Just got my hands on an imported copy of this gem, truly awesome game!

Figured making this thread was good idea for any of us who have the game and don't want to play laggy games online with the Japanese folks who are the vast majority of the online population since this game isn't released out of Japan yet so...yeah. If you wanna play a manly Bang speak up! :D

(general chatter about anything blazblue is also welcome)

Here's an update after having practiced a whole lot yesterday!

Relius isn't nearly as hard as Carl to use, I did all 15 of his challenges in about 40 minutes from having never touched him before. There's a big change to the way barrier works now, it runs out faster but it has a much grander pushback so pressure is going to need adjusting otherwise you'll be punching the air and be open to a punish.

Beyond that, you'll be glad to know that you get all the CS/CS2 dlc stuff on disk and you unlock them through gallery like in the portable CS2 games. The CT story is very nicely redone as well, it has new anime scenes too.

(I hope this update brings more hype and prevents the topic from falling on the third page again...>_>)

Have they put Kokonoe into it yet? I think that's the only thing that will tempt me into purchasing this game.

Nope, but she's the first planned DLC character. They're already at work on her.
Relius is in the game though.
I'm told they buffed Taeger.
I approve.

I wish I had that game, we don't get it released in the EU for a few monthes yet.

So those who have played extend, have they made many changes to Hakumen or Valkenhayn?

Do you have a rundown of all of the changes they've made? Or are the ones you've listed it? Might wait for more DLC characters and then buy it so I don't feel like I spent money on just one character, even if some of the mechanics are drastically changed.

Pretty sure a new story mode comes with it.

Wont be playing you then as you are definitely a lot better than me I never finished anyones challenges even Makoto, who is my favourite. I would import this but alas my Japanese isnt good enough to be able to get the full story even though im sure I would be fine on the options and modes etc.

Can someone confirm for me if Makoto has her own story mode now AND if you can play with her in arcade mode. Im almost certain there is a story mode for her but no one mentions anything about Arcade and that is what will decide if I fork out for the game or not in this instance.

I will be importing Persona 4 ultimate in mayonaka arena though as it looks brilliant. Ive always liked arcs games even if I generally suck at them and Makoto just rocks thats the entire reason I bought CS in the first place so the lack of modes you could play her in dissapointed me a bit.

Alright, that kinda justifies the purchase a little more. Just haven't been keeping up with BlazBlue news because of UMvC3. Probably need to start playing CS again in preparation. UMvC3 has probably murdered what little execution I had though.

have they changed the story mode or is it still the same visual novel style?
did Makoto get her own story?
I haven't played any BB since Calamity Trigger how easy is it to pick up?
is Tager still cheating?
did Noel get a buff? I loved her character design and moves but she did piss damage :(
is "Please Teach Me Bobbie Lady" still in?

Pretty sure all the characters added in Continuum Shift have stories now.

Haven't got extend but I do know that every DLC character inclding Makoto has their own story, yes Noel got buffed, yes "Please Teach me Boobie lady" is still in(it was in CS anyway) and yes Tager is still cheating.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong though.(Except about Tager, that's just opinion).

Woot, responses!

*Ahem*

I'll try answering in a speed basis rather than first come first serve, easier to answer stuff goes first.

So, since the yen is strong an import runs about $75 without shipping, shipping ranges from $2-$30, I imported from playasia which I had a coupon from a previous purchase for so it was $5 cheaper.

All chars have arcade and story modes.

There is actually NO confirmed DLC chars as of right now, all there is is logical speculation, if I were to bet I'd do it on Kokonoe being in but there is no concrete evidence on the matter.

Hakumen and Valkenhayn are buffed, both near top tier now, Haku gets meter faster, has better combos and corner carry, you can charge back C like forward C, his forward A has wallbound and his stomp is a low again. Valkenhayn cam combo after his shoulder tackle in the corner now, has greater pressure and can generally do a lot of crazy things he couldn't do before.

Tager is indeed buffed, he gets 50 meter from most of his normal combos now, he actually does damage outside of throws now, he can do his 720 distortion throw from his voltic charge move and he can do the sledge followup off of it too, he can combo after the sledge followup in the corner and he actually doesn't suck in this game, crazy, I know. He's like lower A tier. It's like they took all of Makoto's tiers and gave em to him, since Makoto is quite bad now, her and Tsubaki have been hit the hardest sadly since I like them both.

As for all the system changes beyond what I mentioned, counter assaults destroy one guard primer now, A moves can only be used 3 times back to back even when you whiff them. (so no AAAAA B C D combos any more, you need to hitconfirm noobs! :D) Beyond that, there seems to be a more balanced style in place to help some of the zoners which were overwhelmed by rushdown chars. Chars like Lambda and Rachel have it a bit better now since hits and block causes more pushback in general.

If you have any more questions keep em coming!

Storymode won't ever change, it's BB's "thing". It's a bit more streamlined now so you know which is the canon ending and which is an official fanfic.

It's easy to pick up since there's a really big tutorial and a combo-teaching-mode called "challenge mode".

Tager never cheated and was the worst char in the game until now actually. He just seems like he does cause he has a few easy to do strong moves, Blazblue is not about easy to do strong moves, it's about long combos, if you don't know how to play then sure, he seems cheap but once you develop your skill level then he falls back.

Noel got a buff a game before this one where she was second best, now she's gotten nerfed but she's still pretty great, she can do like 5000 damage combos in the corner easily.

They have the booby teaching thing and also a part like it named "Please help me professor Kokonoe".

I've got BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II.

Would I really miss something if I would decide to skip Blazblue: Continiuum Shift Extend?

Definitely, you won't have kept up with the newest and best balance iteration.

Everyone plays differently now, characters can do new things and can't do some things they could do before, it's like a whole new game you'll be learning and it's really fun to do so. Also, all the people who play online will be on it so if you don't get it you won't have anyone to fight.

Beyond that, there's new storymodes for the DLC chars and Relius and team online battles (they work somewhat like in KoF) so it's with a lot of new content for people who don't play it seriously as well.

As a Tager player, the news of his improvements please me quite a bit. Wonder how many people online will complain about me playing him though. Time to pick up CS again and start practicing so I can at least get a feel for BB again!

Scrubs always complain, all you need to do is beat them harder the next time to show them they wouldn't have a chance anyways! :D

I don't import, so I'm patient and waiting for international release. I've been following the changes on Hakumen and Jin seeing as they are my mains, along with system changes of course. I still wish they'd port it to the PC...oh well I'll get the Vita/Ps3 version anyways.

I do love how Hakumen has steadily gotten better and better each iteration. I remember shedding manly tears when Yukikakze had low/mid/high block instead of just mid/high. And 5D not bounding exactly like 2D made comboing off that much easier and practical. 4C being chargeable is a nice mind game and really fucking good for fatal counters in the corner.

I'm glad his standing throw is special cancelable again....I did miss wall bounding an opponent with 'Gurren' after a throw and fucking their shit up with a simple 6C>Shippu XDAnd his general increase in speed over the version has been helpful.

Probably wont deviate away from my two primaries. I play Ragna casually sometimes, but i can never find motivation to start a new character after all the work put into Hakumen and Jin.
