You have to always be on-line for SC2 I believe, and it is pretty obvious blizzard games are gonna be like this from now on. Deal with it.
If we do "Deal with it" then yes, Blizzard games will be like this from now on but if we complain and refuse to buy Blizzard games, they may change it. If enough sales are lost they will be forced to change it.

So, I think I'll disregard your advice.
Here is the thing...people ARE going to buy the game.
I have seen this argument alot in this thread. It's not much of an argument since you don't know that yet.

We also heard this argument about the 3DS because Nintendo handhelds always sell.
well its the truth since people will buy this game how many is a different story

well they won't lose enough to make they care at all so keep dreaming.
Is it really "dreaming" when Blizzard has backed out of some of the things they intended when fan reaction was bad enough? Link [http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20010198-1.html]

Meanwhile, I'm playing Torchlight 2 when it comes out.

I'll probably end up getting it since I like to try and play games like this with my friends back home. But I will also regret my purchase if this decision about always online stays seeing as how I spent most of the day fucking around trying to get my internet to work, which doesn't happen too often thankfully but when it does and I can't play a lot of my games (since they go through steam and it refuses to let me just open it offline) and I get rather pissed

Ill be with you brother bring on Diablo3 woooohooooo.
I remember all the shit I got for Saying Dragon Age 2 was the worst game ever and all the blind fanboys came crawling out of the woodworks saying its amazing.
Well I am going to use some of the great lines they used on me..
HATERS GONNA HATE.
THIS ISN'T DIABLO 2 ANYMORE THIS IS THE EVOLUTION OF GAMING.
STREAMLINING IS A WONDERFUL THING.
The torchlight 2 people make me laugh the most like torchlight 2 can even compete on ANY level with the greatness of Diablo 3.
I can go play with a ball and string as well if I want but sorry I am going to take the more ENTERTAINING option.
I am happy Blizzard are weeding out the offline users, the its my way or the highway approach should be used by alot more companies to start getting their consumer base to comply with the way they envision their games.
If you dont like it? Dont play it there will be plenty of dirty companies fighting for the scraps beneath the table at the banquet that will be served for Diablo 3.
Blizzard cater to the hardcore gamer and I dont know about anyone else here but I will be playing HARDCORE MODE. Where you cant buy items from other people with real money but you have to use gold farmed in the game.
Wont region lock effect " chinese gold farmers". If a player is trying to play through an IP from another region wont Blizzard know about it?
hmm to be honest i'm not sure if your with me or trying to go a roundabout way of insulting me for wanting to play diablo 3

Way to keep an ear on the industry. *clap*
Its the same issues we saw with the removal of Lan and in the end I doubt it will affect the games sales in a negative way.
Wait how will it not affect game sales in a negative way? Some people only buy games to play offline, I think it will have a huge impact on game sales.

It will be HARDCORE for me also!
When I die, I'll just get myself drunk, and beat someone. And then Lvl 1 again.

They'll have to use proxies, which I dunno if Blizz can weed out. Most likely not.
But they'll sure as hell have hefty ping. I am not scared of Chinese at all tbh.

my my, didn't we just go through this? Whats the point of making it an "evolution" if it trims people clean off a corporations product out of disgust and plain old fashioned inability. Aren't corporations entire purpose to make money? you would think that since diablo is going to pruint money anyway, they would have it print even MORE money. using "D3's" offline single player to suit the people like me as they once did, and STILL maintaining there beloved RMAH on only online terms. WHAT do they stand to lose? WoW got hacked, so it leads me to believe this will be as well.

Depending on how linked the "Hardcore" mode will be to the entire AH, you WILL feel the repercussions of the RMAH and undercutting by gold farmers. I assure you, not all of them live in China as people would have you believe. But hey, I bet you'll take it as a challenge all the more. Fact is Gold sellers, and honestly just plain other players will do whatever it takes to get auctions sold. toying with them in mmo's over the years I've seen prices drop 50% in no time at all because someone got hasty, and they ruined a prime item for quite a few people as a consequence. If the RMT have a foot in it, SANCTIONED no less, then I would expect to be NPCing everything like the old days. At least Blizzard makes a small cut.

I had to add this in an edit to a prior post, but if anyone's still reading this far, it doesn't hurt to link http://broadbandmap.gov/technology from http://www.broadband.gov/ . the first link is a map detailed all the areas that have broadband across the US (which is in blue), and there are a few options to mix and match. the intention of maintaining it is so we can measure the growth of broadband in the US as the government gets around to make ALL of the US broadband. since someone dear to me lives just in one of these no-broadband zones, I find this always-online mess to be foolish when writ mild.

I won't be at the banquet with you, Calibretto, but that stated these days I don't eat the scraps. I hope the game is what everyone expected if you still purchase, and do tell if it is.

I am not going to lie, when I started playing online, I never went back to single player ever again in Diablo 2.

Please people, stop it already. It is not like it will be the end of the world to have a constant internet connection. Hell, I have lost connection many times, but it never really destroyed my experience. There have been several times also when I have lost connection in starcraft 2 ranked matches, but I never really cared.

Just take this with a grain of salt, and wait to see how the product ends up in the end. I sure as hell never really cared about being all the time online to play Starcraft 2 campaign.

When I first played D2 .. I played in sp. I got to about lvl 30 before my friends invited me to play online with them. It turned out that my lvl 30 paladin was now completely useless and I would have to start again. Ok so lvl 30 is not that high but I was a noob and I was attached to my character because it was the first time I had played the game.

I remember this being really awkward when this happened and I was wishing I had never started in SP and only started online.

Removing sp entirely from D3 will fix this problem for all newcomers.. whenever a noob picks up a game the first thing they are gonna to is play in sp only to later find out that most of the real content of the game is online and they cant port all their hard work across.

In this light .. it makes sense. And for everyone else .. you can play on your own online and never talk/party/invite anyone to your games and just play privately achieving the same thing.

Theres really NO reason to complain, and it IS a surprise that people are complaining.
