Blizzard's New Cataclysm Video Is Shameless Scenery Porn

This final (?) Cataclysm trailer may just be eye candy for WoW junkies, but it really doesn't need to be anything else.

In case you've missed it, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is out next week. Yeah, it's pretty big news. Blizzard has been building up to the big event with a promotion called "Your Fortune Awaits... [http://fortune.worldofwarcraft.com/en_us/home.html]," though I can't really say I've been following it too closely.

At any rate, WoW players hit 100% on the contest, and Blizzard responded with this video you see here to the right: "The World Reborn." It's a glimpse at how the world of Azeroth will look once Cataclysm drops this Tuesday - old zones (already given their cataclysmic revamp [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/interviews/8354-The-End-of-the-World-of-Warcraft-is-Nigh]), shiny new zones, and instanced dungeons alike.

If you do, though, it's pretty fun to watch - and I'm consistently impressed by how Blizzard's stellar art department can make a game that was technologically dated when it came out six years ago still look so good. I mean, that midair city in the clouds (the raid instance of Skywall)? That's eye candy, right there.

I'm super psyched for Cataclysm, even if I'll still have to be working all next week writing news for y'all. Ah well, that's what I get for not requesting time off in advance.

Stock up on Mountain Dew and pop-tarts, folks. We're in for a ride.

That is indeed Chris Metzen, the creative director and voice of Thrall, Deathwing, and like... half of the rest of the cast.

It'S funny how the actual release of the expansion next week doesn't bother me at all.
I really enjoy the revamped old world and am really busy playing alts. I don't see any point in rushing to 85. This being the third expansion I witness, I can take an accurate quess at how things will work out:

- The new instances are going to be hard for a few weeks
- First kills and early progress on an average server will have nothing to do with skill, but with who has the nerve to raid during christmas
- Things will be nerfed by the time of january and all the effort you put in killing the unnerfed stuff will be forgotten by mai, when the next tier hits.

Sure, this works for many people. But since the story line of cata seems to be pretty lame to me, I will probably just take it easy this expansion and stop rading for most of the time.

I'm almost scared to go back to WoW. Maybe because I've never played it with enough dedication to get jaded, I've always hugely admired just how skillfully the world was put together.

I don't know if I want to see the new Azeroth, in case it's somehow not as good.

One thing really bothered me, when will they get a better fucking composer? It seems like they can't do anything besides regurgitating old tunes or just ripping off the damn intro music from the original WoW... Jesus.

They remade the entire world. Whats more fitting than a remade, epic song to go with it?
