I'm so delighted that millions of people continue to pay this guy money.
I think your hitting the nail on the head.

In the end I think he does this because he can, it's a power trip. I'd also imagine the fact that he continuses to do things like this while produce some of the most successful games out there and make tons of cash, gives him an image of invincibility to people he asks for money from (when it happens). Being able to make a fortune while acting like this makes it clear that your not some flavor of the week, staying afloat on the fickle whims of fandom and current popularity.

What's more his continued operation shows that gamers, or enough of us, are very similar to junkies. Notice that none of what he has said or done has remotely hurt him financially. Even on these forums people will talk about how they mightg hate him, but they will still support his products with their money. Only engaging in a "boycott" when it's something they wouldn't have bought anyway which is entirely meaningless.

By the same token, what he said about them (indirectly) in his statements is going to be irrelevent if he ever approaches some of these other companies if he needs somethign from them someday, and drops millions on their lap. He knows this, so why should he care?

Oh Bungie, the people who make the same game year after year? The people who fail miserably when they try to deviate from something more complex than ALIAN BLASTAN (Halo Wars)? The people who created a three hour game with Halo 3s multiplayer and charged full price?

Ugh!

Saddens my that some of my friends actually asked me if I'll be pre ordering Black Ops too. It's the people who don't frequent gaming sites, and don't know of how evil Kotic is, that will support their products... and sadly, that's a LOT of people.
You shouldn't hate the games just because the developers are owned by assholes. That's like hating soldiers because they're drafted into a war; or hating the cook at a restraunt because the manager called you a douche. i.e. you can like black ops as still hate kotick without being a hypocrite, or an ignorant ass.
Not sure how the fuck that would constitute being a hypocrite or ignorant. Your analogies are completely wrong. More like hating going to a restaurant because a manager is a dick wad. That's pretty damn reasonable. There's tons of other restaurants with management that is nice and friendly and worth supporting. The soldier analogy is a little out there. More like hating the war because the President who declared the war was completley misleading and had far different motives "than advertised".

Regardless, not sure why you're getting so damn trigger happy on the insults (*sniff sniff* Do I smell a fanboy?). Not supporting a product due to not liking those who stand to profit from it is completely legitimate. The programmers and artists are still getting their wages, aren't they? It's not like Activision is going bankrupt.

As for the game itself, I shouldn't even need to mention it. It's yet another CoD. It's still modern warfare, there's still going to be pretty much the same multiplayer. They just add a few new toys, tweak a few of the options. That isn't quite enough of a change to legitimize itself in my eyes as being a "must buy". More like a money grabbing scheme - oh, wait, you think that the developers could be behind that?

Sure, I'll probably rent the game for the single player. But there's no fucking way I'll shell out $60 on it. I've enjoyed far better fps games lately than any CoD I've played, as far as single player goes. If you're truely into playing one game, online, all the time then so be it you pretty much need the "newest version" but if you're like most gamers out there who like to play different games, this one just isn't worth the price of admission. I spent maybe... 30 hours online in MW2. I have absolutely no need to play more. It was fun for a while, sure, but I have other shit to do.

Oh Bobby, you silly *****. I hope they're gonna have a bit of trouble finding a new partner when Bungie's contract is up.

Honestly, it makes me worry mostly about Acti's PR department. Clearly they must not know what they're doing, if they allow him to constantly spout off stuff like this.

Saying things that might or might not actually be true, but in a way guaranteed regardless to drive people away - that's pretty much what PR departments exist to prevent. Why they're not keeping Kotick's public pronouncements on a tighter leash. They have to be smarter than this.

When Bungie's next title comes out, I'm only buying it Because i like Bungie (Unless it is acctualy an MMO) And the only reason I'm getting Black Ops is because Treyarch have their part with it, and i like them for what they seem to have done with Black Ops. Both seem really good with their fans just like Valve. I really hope Valve take Activison games off Steam just to get back at him. (Although that would mean Black Ops and Bungie's new game...God Damnit!)

I'd acctualy laugh if Bungie broke away from them because of this :') although their contract probably stops it.

Bungie...Next time don't pick twat's to work with.

This guy is nothing more than a professional troll. Such bottomless stupidity cannot be real.

If this guy genuinely thinks that Bungie of all people is the last high quality indie studio then he can go shove a ball gag is in mouth and sit the corner with Portal, TF2 and Left 4 Dead.

(Clear Valve fanboy)

Mind you, the implication that Bungie<All other "indie" studios is frankly insulting, since I can't name a single good game out of Bungie's library.

1: I didn't call anyone any insults. Those we're examples of what some people might imply.
2: Of course the game is a money scheme. ALL BUSINESS IS A MONEY SCHEME.
3: I don't buy the newest games either bro. I'm just saying there's no need to get upset.
4: That war advertised comment? The president can't declare the war without congress consent, which can't consent without the citizen's ok.
5: Not liking a product because of those who profit is indeed completely legitimate, that doesn't mean it's what you should do.
6: The artists and programmers only keep the jobs they get paid for if the game does any good.
7: You friends "actually asked you" because they like playing with you, regardless whether or not they know about kotick. They might not have the same opinion as you even if they did.

To be fair that sounds like it was from a business meeting and it was meant to sell Bungie to the investors.

Not that I like the guy, he's a total wanker.

"Meanwhile, Kotick has expressed a wish to sell repackaged in-game cutscenes to gamers as $30 movies."

Wait. Hold on. Someone. Please. Explain. HOW he thinks this will actually work.
