I base my personal body image around my masculenity.

I know that sounds odd and maybe cyclical but bear with me. For some reason, I think that having an idealized body image is an iffeminent characteristic. For centuries women have been battling these social ideals and I think it is sad that now men are succumbing to them as well.

I would call it the "feminization of man" but that's sexist and unfair because women aren't the cause and all women are not fixated with socialized or idealized body images. I just use the term to convey the concept.

Personally, I want to go bald as i get old... i should have hair on my body.. and i shouldn't be chiseled ripped like a gay porn star. I'm a man... and by man, I don't mean a stereotypical oaf.. i mean i am my own man. I drink beer, i'm hairy, i'm decisive, i say what i think, i have integrity, and i respect intelligence.

Basically, I look at Maxim, Redbook, Stuff magazine, The Hills, and G4 and see a bunch of weak impressionable sad people. (Not implying that anybody here is sad, just saying.)

No, no, I'm pretty *****-like in nature. I just happen to enjoy violence as well, which evens things out.

the reason models are so skinny is the idea is that they are walking manniquins (sp?). the plan is to show what they look like on a body with no features. that's why you will never see a plus size model, as they are too distinctive

Body image really does matter as the instant we see somebody, consciously or subconsciously, we all decide certain things about them just from the way they look, like certain personality traits or even what job they have or if they're married.

Also perfect body, see Lucy Pinder for women and I agree with Ares about Bruce Lee for men. The man was a like a finely tuned machine.
I would do Ville Valo before Bruce Lee any day.

Something about Bruce's body just doesn't sit right with me.
Was it the fact that every single muscle in his body was as tone as physically possible; seriously the man would just sit down and work muscles most people don't even know they have until it was the best he could get it, we're talking about muscles that make a certain part of your hand twitch a little bit

I actually do have some serious concerns about my weight, but interestingly not because I'm fat. Quite the opposite, I'm almost ridiculously skinny. Which is sort of embarrassing, atleast people here are used to fat people. And the worst part is that I have no fat insulation, so I get cold really easily, which I don't like. And when I hit into something it hurts more because there's no fat to cushion my bones. And I'm skinny. :(

Edit: Ares Tyr, if that is true. SWEET ZOMBIE JESUS! That is dedication that should be commended!
Indeed. Gerard Butler and the whole cast deserve some sort of award for what they did in preparation, but I guess they're satisfied with the mountains of pussy I'm sure each of them got in return.
Ares you a fucking legend for that sentence alone lol
I do say "lol" alot, i seem to use them as mini full stops lol with an air of amicability rather than boring ol' punctuation

Ville Valo is a bell-end and about as attractive as blendered frog - to my eyes
Women see him differently - i do not understand this at all

Kim Kardashian is Soooooooo hot lol look up Gemma Atkinson everybody she = physical perfection

ElephantGuts - there's always advice on the internet and at your local GP if you're genuinely worried about your weight, both putting it on and losing it are covered in self-help packs and shit
Personally i recommend a diet of chicken and pasta and a comfortable daily exercise regime

I do think looks matter, yes. Mostly because being out of shape is a sign of being unhealthy, lazy, and low livelihood to me. Don't get me wrong, I like some meat on the bones of my ladies, but I like the meat to be muscular, in shape, tight.

For myself, my ideal body image is Bruce Lee.

He's easily the most in-shape person I've ever seen to exist. He wasn't a mass of ugly, thick muscle either. He was streamlined speed, agility, and strength. If I could have anyone's body, it'd be his.

But I would definetly settle on George St. Pierre.

What he said. I used to have a serious problem with my body and hated it but now I've done something about it and almost have a six pack and muscles o.0
The only thing to do with your body that prevents you from being lean genetically is your parents being lazy slobs and you picking up their habits. Everyone, with some work and elbow grease can be lean, it's just in the society that we live in now where we want a quick fix to weight loss and equally enough a quick fix for food(hence fast food)because we don't have time to cook a proper healthy meal means that we become obese and fat. It's the persons incentive and attitude that dictates whether they become lean or not, if someone thinks it's genetics purely and give up doing exercise etc because genetics won't allow him/her to be lean then they won't get anywhere, it's a lifestyle change you have to make, I've made it, there's no reason why anyone else can't.

Bruce Lee wasn't as healthy as you may think.

Because he was so lean he didn't have enough body fat to metabolise poisons properly. As a result, taking a headache tablet & smoking a bit of cannabis to relieve stress after a hard day in the movie business causeed a fatal cerebral edema.

Fat is an essential part of a healthy body & Lee's 0.1% body fat wasn't enough to metabolise those foreign chemicals & sadly he died.

Personally I'm ok with my body image. I could probably do with dropping a few stone but that would happen naturally if I exercised.

I've accepted that genetics play a bigger part in your body shape than working out. I've always been averagely overweight, but also genetically very heavily muscled & strong, which is why I don't work out a lot, since when I do work out & get toned up I start to look like a gorilla, which I don't really like. It intimidates people (especially females) & has causes me trouble with fights from idiots wanting to prove themselves by taking down King Kong.

I keep myself relatively fit, I walk a lot, but I don't really work out any more. I'm still fit & strong enough to run if I have to, I can lift my own bodyweight & lift up anything or anyone I need to, so it's all cool.

I'm really comfortable with my body shape. I'm quite healthy, so the only changes I want to make are just so I can be more athletic. I'm not in any hurry about it though; my limits are still far beyond the activities I participate in. Sometimes I feel like I should have a bit more fat, but I don't really know how to*, so I just ignore it.

*while still being healthy, obviously.

I look like this:

Frankly, I think I'm ugly as hell, and I'm borderline anorexic, but I also generally don't care. I learned a long time ago that the world judged people almost entirely on first impressions and appearances, and I'd rather avoid falling into that trap.

I quite like the body I'm in now. I just wish it had less pot belly and was stronger. Not more muscly, stronger. I care not for looks, I want results.

Well, I'm cool with me. I'm healthy. I could do with being a bit more fit and probably a bit more weight. I'm kinda skinny, but no matter how many pizzas, chocolates, burgers I cram down my throat, it goes straight through me.

My ideal body image would probably be that of myself, except with more muscle and a fully-grown beard. Think of a generic brown-haired, grizzled FPS protagonist, except more slim and tanned.

I find the ideal male body image far different to what most people do. I'm close enough to my ideal body, semi-muscular without much muscle definition but still stronger than you look. and only having a slight amount of body fat equating to an overall streamlined body shape and naturally near hairless[which is somewhat strange for a white person] body.

all I gotta do is a bit more athletic excercise to lose the hamhock legs and slight muffin-top I've acquired over winter :/

You can have some of mine. Actualy, no, screw that, you can have all of it.

I actualy have very powerfull legs. My calves are massive and don't have any fat on them at all, and they're rock-hard when I stand up. Other than that, though, I can't stand my physical appearance. What's really annoying is I'm actualy very strong, my body just decided, like a twat, to hide all the muscle under mounds of fat. Bastard!

Anywho, my ideal physique would be like George St.Pierre up there, except maybe a little more slim. I like the idea of having an athletic physique idealy suited to parkour.

I'm a goddamn twig, and I'm perfectly happy with it. I do want to work out more, but just to feel healthier, not to look more muscular. Right now, I look like the dude that I feel like I am; if I had muscles all over the place, I wouldn't, and since I'm pretty happy with the dude that I feel like I am, I guess my current position is pretty much perfect. I'd replace my skin, though; I have eczema that's pretty hard to get rid of and I bleed way too easily. These are more practical concerns than body image issues, though.

As for the ladies, I'm not really picky in terms of bodies. As long as she has a pretty face and isn't of an unhealthy weight I'm happy.

I know that this isn't what you're looking for, but I hope you realize that you are only a haircut and a wardrobe change from being a highly eye-pleasing dude. (If that's your choice, that's okay too.)

I am definitely not cutting my hair. My fashion sense is terrible, and I really don't know anything about it at all; I think most clothing people think looks nice on other people looks pretty stupid and awful on me. Besides, I'd rather be a little different rather than another stupid Hollister clone.
