Okay, so I just finished reading Watchmen for the 20th fucking time and I realized, I need some new books.

So, what should I do other than turn to my fellow Escapists?

What would you guys recommend for me. I'm heading out to Books A Million within the next few days, so really anything would be appreciated.

I tend to like a lot of graphic novels. I have almost all of Alan Moore's and Frank Miller's work with the exception of The Killing Joke which is on my list to get. I also love horror stories, murder mysteries, suspense, and psychological themed books.

So help me out!!

EDIT: Oh, yeah, this might help. I also like Scifi themes

Well, I can't really help you on the graphic novel front. Book-wise, I'd recommend Choke; it was written by the man who wrote Fight Club and it's a very good read.

Hm... Stuff by Jeffrey Brown or Chris Ware
I recommend Funny Misshapen Body by Jeffrey Brown
It's not in your genres but is good
Black Hole is good
so is Maus.
Scott Pilgrim is one I always recommend.

I also don't read graphic novels, so can't help ya with those.

However, Stranger in a Strange Land, The Fountainhead, The Riverworld Series, and Starship Troopers are all good reads

Muhyo and Roji's Bureau for Supernatural Investigation is a good horror-esque series.

Well, I would definately recommend the series Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. It's a great set of books that take place in modern day Chicago. It has to do with wizardry and mythological creatures, nothing like Harry Potter thankfully. The series is at around 11 books now and each one is very good. Or you could follow other books by him such as the Codex Alera series, which actually will be finishing up soon.

There was a thread on this extremely recently.

Found it. Here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.127132#2691130]. Plenty of ideas there and my suggestion from that thread still stands. Vladmir Nabokov's "Lolita". Go read it if you haven't.

Sci fi books... I can't recommend anything in the graphic novel area (sorry, I tend to stick with manga for the most part), but I can recommend just about anything from Larry Niven really... not like hes an obscure name in the genre or anything... also, if you haven't read all the stuff by Isaac Asimov, you should do yourself a favor and just grab anything he ever wrote...

Black Hawk Down was a fantastic book. Sorry, it doesn't really fit with the genres you mentioned, but it is one of the few books that ever got me emotionally attached to the characters and story. The greatest part about it is that it's a true event, but it reads like any novel, so you can get hooked on the story easily.

Gorky Park is a pretty good murder mystery imo.
When it comes to science fiction I recommend the Clone series by Steven L. Kent.
The Darth Bane books are also pretty good reads.

If you're into Batman graphic novels, I highly recommend "The Long Halloween" and it's sequel, "Dark Victory".

As for novels, you might get a kick out of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." It's exactly what it sounds like, and that's what makes it great.

Either that or more fitting with the Sci-Fi theme; books by John Ringo. A Hyme Before Battle, Gust Front, When the Devil Dances, and Hell's Faire are all very amazing books dealing with an alien invasion taking over the earth and the army fighting back. Very clever plotline with a few twists involved, the series is over now, except for extensions done by other authors however I don't recommend them as highly as Ringo.

the amory wars. once done, go listen to the band coheed and cambria. the author of the book is in the band, and if you listen to the albums in order, it tells the story.

Here are some books I've enjoyed/re-enjoyed recently:
Dune
Grapes of Wrath
Black Hawk Down
The Stand
The Shining
DUNE(!!!!): All the other books
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was okay...
If you're into Mass Effect, the books are cool, otherwise you won't get that much out of them.
A Scanner Darkly
Do Robots Dream of Electric Sheep?
The Foundation Series

I might edit some in later.
