To me the Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher would be good with Liam Neeson as Gaius Sextus would be a great movie.
Exactly what I was thinking when I saw this thread (minus the Neeson bit).

Also The Lies Of Locke Lamora would be good, though it'd have to be long to fit in the detail. There be a lot of detail.

Either the Southern Victory series or World War series by Harry Turtledove they're interesting alternative timeline novels. Plus there are times in them where nukes are going off left and right. I would love to see some of that stuff on the big screen.

Dinotopoia is about a Kid and his farther who get wrecked on an island populated dinosaurs and by shipwrecked people. Its a kids story so as long as you get the whole these Dinosaurs are intelligent and have built a society idea you couldn't screw it up.
I think a mini-series of the Dinotopia series already. But a full on movie might be pretty interesting.

Books should not be made into movies. It seems that no director wants to admit that the story of the book is better than his idea for the movie. Eragon was a good example. If someone could actually make the movies better resemble the books it would be worth it.

Neuromancer... Reputdely, one is in the works, but it will most likely suck, rumors have it that it will be directed by Joseph Khan, and feature Hayden Christensen. : <

Snow Crash, because it's cool, and Neal Stephenson's a great author.

And how about a remake of Dune while we're at it?

Peter F Hamilton, either his Commonwealth Saga universe or the Nights Dawn Trilogy one. Iain M Banks' Culture universe would be good too (one is actually being made). Asimov's Foundation universe, again one is being made.
So yeah, it seems like Hollywood is listening to me, although they got my 2nd and 3rd choice damn them.
I love me an epic space opera, if you couldn't tell.

The only book series ive read where i immediatley thought converting it into a movie would be great was the Black Magician Trilogy by Trudi Canavan.
The only other books ive read that i could see as movies are the Skulduggery Pleasant series.

I love the Foundation series by Asimov, but I don't think those would translate well to the big screen. However, as a mini-series it'd be awesome!

Another series by Asimov I love is the robot detective trilogy: "Caves of Steel", "Naked Sun", and "Robots of Dawn". I wonder how well those would work as movies?

I enjoyed the book Sabriel. It was very interesting.

If no one knows what I'm talking about, here's a pic of the cover art.

The Wheel of Time series.

Chances are the films would be out before the last book at this rate....

Don Quixote
They keep trying to do that, but leads keep dying and production money keeps running dry. "Man of La Mancha" worked fairly well overall in 1972. Also "I, Don Quixote" ended up hitting the screen (and stage when musicals fell out of favour). "Lost in La Mancha" is sort of the most famous failures because Johnny Depp was a part of the production.

Otherwise, I'd love to see "American Gods" (Neil Gaiman) on screen, or "Good Omens" (Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman). Possibly the Death series of Pratchett's Discworld-- specifically "Hogfather" and "Thief of Time" or "Soul Music."

Books: The Halo Books. If you morons can get a script off the ground, adapt Ghosts of Onyx or First Strike.

Comic Books: The 2 (soon to be 3) Firefly Comic Mini-Series.
I'd prefer the first book, Fall of Reach. It give the Spartans depth and personality. The first book is my favorite of all the Halo books and I've read them all.
