Starting with Zero because Ive recently gotten into shanking stuff from the shadows in games (Most likely cus of fun times with the assassin in MNC), will likely stick w ith him for a full playthrough and then give axton a spin, as I do love dem turrets, followed by salvador cus dual wielding midget meh.

Siren will likely gather dust, though I don't know a great deal about her talent trees and abilities so I could be pleasantly suprised.

This is all a moot point once the mechromancer comes out of course. No going back after that.

Sounds like you never used Radiance and Phoenix. You're right about the Phasewalk being an "oh shit" button, but it was a lot more than that. There were boss fights where I didn't even need to shoot anything.
Eh, with the 69 eventual skill points you can get you tend to try everything. There's a point where you pick up the not-so-great skills just because there's nothing else to get. So yeah I tried Radiance; it's not that impressive. You do more damage just by shooting stuff. Even with the AoE side of it, there's no way you'll out damage a Combustion Hellfire, Pestilent Defiler or plain Double Anarchy. If using it is going to be lowering your overall damage output, then you might as well be saving it for that oh-shit button. Phoenix is a bit better but... that's not a Phasewalk skill.

Inner Glow was the really OP bit. That and the base nature of Phasewalk. You regen health while remaining completely invulnerable (and having chance to reposition to your advantage, even starting the fight again without aggro) and by the time you reappear you'll have given your shields enough time to regen too.

Axton, Roland was right up my alley in B1, beeing support and all.
I'm not the most awesome FPS player, that's why i liked Borderlands,
it was more than just "point and shoot military super soldier'ism" like most FPS's.
Stylish too.

But i might switch to the Siren, if one of my mates wants the Soldier class.

I spent a majority of my time playing as Lilith and Mordecai in the first game.

So I will be avoiding Maya and Zer0 this time around, to try something completely new.

I wanted to pick Axton because Roland was my least played class in the first game. But I am favoring Salvador by a wide margin. He's unlike any of the classes I played in BL1, and he's a guntoting dwarf!

He could use a slightly more massive beard, but everything about him seems awesome to me so far. Unless I change my mind for some reason, he will definitely be my primary choice just for the fact that he is a dwarf. My 2nd pick will be Axton.

Axton and Salvador seem like they fit my playstyle the best, with Zer0 finishing a close second and Maya not even appearing on the list. But I will probly do Axton first cause he seems to fit it the most. By that I mean, I like playing as the highly disiplined soldier who will take out his target with accuracy and power.

Zer0 looks like he was custom built for me specifically, so definitely starting with him. Do intend to try them all out at some stage though.

Seeing as Borderlands is a game I don't tend to play with finesse, I'll be going with either Axton or Salvador. The auto-turret action skill was a lifesaver in Borderlands, which immediately makes me willing to forgive Axton for his apparent blandness. As for Salvador? Guns guns guns! >:)

That said, I'll at least give the other lot a go...at some point.

Probably either Axton (for the heavy ordinance), or Salvador (for the DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA!).

Whichever one gives me the emphasis on shotguns that I crave like shooty maple bacon.

Okay, so with Borderlands 2 just over the horizon, I thought I'd ask which character class you guys are liking the look of and which you'll probably play as first.

Me?

Siren all the way, baby! :D

Love her look and her skill set is looking damn sexy too.

My fiancée, who I'll be playing splitscreen coop with, loved Brick in the last game and she squealed like a little girl when she saw the Gunzerker in action, so that's sorted :D

Least interested? Axton. He just looks like another run of the mill soldier, nothing about him shouts out to me, so I'll probably leave him well alone.

So, how about yoy guys? Hyped about the game?
Derailing thread: Will Borderlands 2 actually have a story? or will it be just as trivial as the first game? That said I like the big guy with the dual weilds. I'd probably pick him 1st. I just hope the story side of the game will have a bit more punch, looting is fun, but it gets tedious...

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Ill probably be playing 0 since Axton looks so generic and boring this time around.

I adore how people are calling Salvador "the big guy" when he is the shortest of the entire group. That's what steroids will do to you, kids!

I'm really torn between which one I want to play. My friend and I are playing through the first one at the moment, and I chose to play as Lilith. Beforehand, when I played the game for the first time, I had played as Roland. Needless to say, I'm enjoying Lilith far more than I ever did Roland. I think his turret really made things too easy. That being said, Maya doesn't really look to be the same playstyle as Lilith.

At all.

If I had to choose, I'd go with Salvador. The dual-wielding mechanic looks awesome.

Salvador all the way.Two guns at the same time? Who wouldn't love that. Although i played all of the first cast of characters in the first game, i'd still go with him.

I'm definitely going with Axton. I loved Roland from the first game because of his ammo and health regenerating skills and incredibly powerful turret. Axton's turret looks 200% better than the last turret, with dual machine guns and rocket launchers.

Salvador. I'm going to have him running around in a tight pink muscle shirt flinging grenades and going mental with a pair of SMG's. >;-D

All of them, at some point down the road.
I had at least two of every class in the last game, this will likely be the same.

First character I'm grabbing though is Salvador.

I'm still deciding between Maya, Zer0 and Axton for first playthrough. My brother is probably going to choose Zer0, so I'm gonna choose either Maya or Axton. Axton reminds me of Roland which for me is both a good and bad aspect, while Maya, being a Siren, probably plays with an SMG, which I loathe. Sure I could change the weapon, but it just wouldn't be the same.
