As I said in the earlier thread, the article isn't actually blaming games.

For all we know these kids, aged 11 and nine, were playing Mario Party.

Yeah, so the kid knows where to find and how to use a shotgun, but it's the video game's fault?

Whatever happened to journalistic integrity?
To be fair, the article mention video games only once. I hardly call that blaming, it's just giving context.
I guess it's more the implications of the headline... and what blisteringly retarded people will no doubt take from it.

Give this story a couple of days and I am sure Jack Thompson will be all over it.

It is sad this had to happen. The kid lost to some videogames. That was no reason to go off and grab a shotgun over the ordeal. Now a family loses a son all because of stupidity.

Jack Thompson was killed in a GTA-style driveby.

No, but seriously they revoked his lawyer license.

Teaching a 9 year old how to load and fire a shotgun: idiotic.

Not teaching a 9 year old that losing a game isn't worth getting the shotgun you taught how to load anf fire: "Idiotard"

but his older brother recognizes the familiar sound of a shotgun loading near the area of the weapon spawn point.

Well, they did have an argument about video games. Sure people that are easily influenced will make a link but I find the over protective comments from some of you interesting at least.

These kids need anger control.

the fight was about being beaten IN the video game. It sound like a normal fight gone overly agressive.

Personally, I think EVERY factor played a huge part. Yes, the Dad was plenty stupid enough not only to teach his 9-year old son how to fire a double-barrel 12-gauge, but also to put it and ammunition within his reach.
You can blame the kids for being all around idiots (and the dad for not teaching them better).
Also, you could blame the video game for making the kids familiar with the idea of killing. But I don't think video games make people violent. Competitive? Sure. Violent? No.

That won't stop him. Somehow he will spread a message about this.

The father who raised his kids to fire a gun and kept ammunition and a shotgun lying around the house and was such an innatentive, inept parent that the kids threatend eachother at gun point, should be charged. Standard Open and Shut case Thompson...wait a minute, is that a mario game? CALL FOX

I blame the father for having his gun in a place where the boy could get his hands on it.
Not only that, but he should also be blamed for teaching his 9 year old how to load and fire a shotgun, that is left where the boy can get it.
Agreed. Why even have one in the first place?
Did someone just question Second Amendment rights? I think someone might have.
We good, law abiding citizens keep firearms to defend ourselves from the criminals who also have guns.
And to kill food with.

I'm 100% for gun rights and everything, but who teaches a 9 year old how to use a 12 gauge..

Then proceeds to leave it completely unguarded.

The father and the kids are both to blame, they are all retarded. Both of the survivors should be locked up to not harm themselves or anyone else. Extreme? Not at all, if you are retarded enough to fight over a loaded shotgun, you deserve a good slap on the back... at the edge of steep cliff.
