I think the other story was even more vicious, the boy who sledge hammered his Dad to death for taking away his keyboard.
What is in these people's heads that makes them think these things are okay?
I want all of you to look at these stories. They are not commited over something that might justify, or even explain murder. They are over possessions like keyboards and PS3's for crying out loud. Are these people so possesive that they will actully kill family over them. The fact that you have them is a priviledge, no a right, and in no way do you ever have a right to kill them over it.

I wonder how the parents might feel.

It hasn't really been brought up, but when you think about it, imagine what this must be doing to the parents. Imagine having your oldest son die, and then to find out it was your only other son that did it. Then imagine having to be asked all of these questions and having to reacall that experience for the police. Then, the only son you have left you see being sent to jail. Grant it, that boy is a murderer, but they are realy all you have left and now you have to see them condemed for their acts. Also, all this probably happened in their house hold, maybe even under their watch. I can not even begin to realize their feelings.

I think this is something we really need to realize, and I just don't know what we could do for them, but maybe send them some sort of thought or prayer. They pretty much lost everything, and I can only feel sorry for them and hope that in some way things might get better for them.

Edit: I actually just looked back and noticed that the two were actually under the care of an adoptive mother. Still, even if you are not the biological mother, there still had to be some sort of a bond between her and the two brothers. I cannot see how anyone involved could not be shaken by this.

This kid doesn't need jail, he needs psychiatrical help. After his sentence, he'll have at least 50 years of living with himself in front of him (if things don't get awry), I'd say that's punishment enough without making him a full-fledged criminal or drug addict in prison on top of that.

5 years for fratricide?! Come ten years the PS3 will be obsolete, but his brother will still be dead.

I don't know all the facts, but it seems he killed the only person that didn't run out on him over a piece of plastic and circuitry.

Considering the kid's history, I have to wonder if this was just the one thing that made him snap, as stupid as it was. He's likely not mentally stable, not that it makes it a good thing, I just think that there is more to what we're only seeing on the surface here.

Are you sure thats the right combination? I mean if he really is messed in the head don't you think he should maybe get put in an asylum before jail. I mean I think that if he's actually got something wrong he should be put in a hospital.

But if he just killed the guy out of spite and is only psychopathic...to jail he goes.

With about 10 billion people on the planet, statistically, that means there will be a large number of people who are fucking crazy.

I don't read anything into it, and really don't have time to sympathize with all the murders happening constantly.

I have no idea what being abadoned and a ward of the state for a decade can do to you, but I can see how something like that might effect a persons mental state. Then, as you mentioned, there probably was more to the story about the relationship of the two brothers. I think there might have been some sort of harrassment or abuse goinging on between the two. Even if it was just small things, they still build over time. Have that, mixed in what was probably a difficult past, and I think the younger of the two probably just reached his breaking point.

I think the reason why the sentence would be so low is the fact that he is probably a minor, which is usually under 18, though some times younger people have been charged as adults due to the severity of the act.

It is a debated issue on whether or not you should try minors as adults. Some people so no because as a kid you may not realize the full consequence of the action. Still, I think if you can decide to pick up a knife and you stabbed a person in response to something they did, I pretty sure you were aware of what you were doing.

I agree with you guys that he should probably have a longer sentence. If he had this outburst of violence that resulted in a death once, it probably would happen again in five years. Better to keep him away from people he could hurt. I am unsure of my thoughts on where he should go though. Do you think he should go to prision, or some sort of asylum.
Might actually be better in a Mental Health Hospital if there are deep rooted problems, but I can only speculate.

just imagine what he'd do if you spilled his pint!
