I'll admit I despise gingers, but at least I have the good decency not to act on my hatred.

Stupid buggers.
Ah well, at least the response wasn't over the top.

Maybe the unfortunate victim should run up and drop litter in front of them... with a dumptruck.

The incident actually happened in Los Angeles. Though the link is to a Chinese paper, it is a global newspaper, which can cover other countries.

OT: I knew something along these lines would turn up as soon as it mentioned here a few days back. Why do people crush my faith in humanity the moment it takes an upward turn?

As A ginger I am happy this was done for two reasons:
1 The little shits should get their parents into trouble (hopefully)
2 The Ginger revolution is neigh
It is? Aw man, my ginger friends have been saying that the revolution is whinny! Boy will their faces be red! They should really quit horsing around. (ba dum tish!)
as long as they can pony up the cash, there will be many hurdles for them to overcome, but i'm sure they'll canter along.

I didn't think they had kids in China.. Only people that looked like kids.

This has nothing to do with China. This took place in LA.

-Sigh- Once again the media blames a controversial show rather than the parents who obviously had boundary issues. If you've raised you kid to believe South Park can tell them what to do, you can't blame the show.
Kids of around 12/13 have long since stopped turning to their parents for moral guidance on things like this. They saw South Park, said "HUR HUR FUNEEE." That's all there is to this.
While this is true, it's still not the fault of the program, it's the fault of the children and how they were raised. To be so easily affected by a program they must have shown some signs of it previously, but weren't stopped. No one will, out of the blue, decide something on TV is imitable without showing a sign previously that they found something easily imitable.

It's the age old argument between anti and pro gaming factions. If someone is killed and they were found to have played a game, the anti gamers blame the game, whereas the gaming crowd argue that if someone is willing to kill then they had the capacity to do it anyway, and the game was not at fault.

You didn't think or didn't know?

Also, Asians can't be gingers. People in China? Sure. Just because you live in China doesn't mean you or your ancestors were Chinese.

Why all the hate for gingers? What did we ever do to you?
I think ginger dudes are ugly. However, ginger (or just redhead) girls... Mrrraur.
Seconded.

South Park first started to air when I was 12 years old and I wasn't out trying to emulate what was happening in the show.

Besides, it happened in California, ground zero for crazy people.

Three students in Los Angeles have been arrested after a South Park-inspired 'Kick A Ginger Day' prank appeared to get out of hand

Because in no way are South Park episodes labelled to prevent 12/13 year olds from watching them. And I'm sure the parents did everything in their power to make sure the children weren't watching something they shouldn't have been.

We have a similar holiday called "Das Boot Day" where you kick a german.

It's all fun and games 'til someone kicks a neo-nazi.
