"be aN astronaut"

BRINK looks ok. I liked Edge's time trials and aesthetic, though I disliked the parkour from an FPS perspective. If they can make the rest of the game compelling enough I'll pick it up eventually.

Doesn't look too bad. I don't think the one-button free-running will work though, like Assassins Creed's free-running system, the thing about Mirror's Edge was that it was a spread button system so you weren't giving yourself repetative strain.

This looks like it could be amazing.

I'd have to question putting the SMART system in a multiplayer game though. Parkour strikes me as something of a single player thing, something that is popular because it is "cool" (which it is). Unless good use of movement gives you an advantage over another player then it'll be a gimmick game.

That said, if it pulls it off and the SMART system is very useful in a PvP setting, then this game could quickly become one of my favourites.

My girlfriend tipped me off at this title,
it looks very interesting, and i like the visual style.
And the whole free running and shooting aspect sounds like fun.

Ok it seems as though almost none of you have actually watch the gameplay that is on brink's website. first the gun play is similar to battlefield i nthe way the guns feel (recoil and movement) and this is a FREE RUNNING game not PARKOUR which mirrors edge was, trust me there IS a difference mainly parkour is about effectient movement free running is about get to a place (usually with tricks like backflips along the way).

im sorry are you serious!
first off mirrors edge was initially developed as a guns free game (by that i mean u never used one but was shot at) second ME is not a rip off of assissins creed with is a free running game where mirrors edge is parkour. which is a big difference. and just as an aside how the fuck is assassins creed like spiderman. the only similarity is they both have running elements. ezio and altiar never had any web slinging bullshit.
but i agree with you about bethesda being GOOD not the best but good and i really think they can do this game justice.

After Halo Reach this is the only full sized game im getting this year. plus orange box maybe

I am currently in pant wetting excitement over the game. I think that the free running will work okay because it's more of a tactical thing with maybe some elements of plat-forming but it has a Assassin's Creed 2 style free running button and the game engine does most of it for you.

As long as the emphasis is on multiplayer gameplay and not some horrible campaign mode, that will likely be generic and uninspiring.

Dammit, at the Eurogamer show at the Royal Armouries they were doing a presentation on this game but I didn't anything about it at that time so I didn't go.

Generic, boring, dull, repetitive - someone mentioning these things? Whoever does it has no clue what he's talking about!

Splash Damage have proven that they can create innovative hardcore shooters with Enemy Territory and ET:Quakewars (not the crappy third party console ports). The problem was that these games have too much depth resp. a too steap learning curve for the average gamer (Call of Duty gets boring after 20 hours of playtime, you learn new things even after a 100 hours with those games). It will be interesting to see if they can appeal to the wider mass with Brink.

Needless to say I'm looking forward to it.

I think it looks pretty boring. It's like it's trying to be borderlands and mirrors edge combined with tactical gameplay.
So looking like another game means it will play similar?
AC10 said:
It's just so "ugh" you know? We've seen these trashy, rustic environments. We've seen these "ultra tough commandos" and we've seen free running all before.
Thats not what rustic means, there are no ultra tough commandos in this game as far as I can see and free running has only been done in about... 2 games (that didn't suck).

It looks like another shooter dripping with more testosterone than sense - to me it's already dead.
Have you even seen this game?

I'm not trying to pick a fight with someone over a game that none of us have played, but you have no real justification for any of these statements.

OT: I think it'll probably be at least fun for a while. Splash damage is developing it so the the combat will probably be excellent (though MW2 retards will probably find it too difficult) and the free running could be really cool too. However, story will probably be shite.
Firstly no, looking like another game doesn't mean it will play like one.
However, if you've been following the game at all, we pretty much DO know exactly how it plays and lo and behold, it's mirrors edge and MW2.

Secondly, yeah you're right that's not what rustic means. Though the trashy part is still on the nose. And yes, looking almost identical to borderlands doesn't mean it will play like borderlands, but it means I'm already bored of the environment.

Yes, I've seen this game. In the trailer (i know the trailer isn't gameplay) someone dodges a ROCKET by doing a wall flip - the trailer treats this like it's DEAD. FUCKING. SERIOUS. As Rockets travel at around 295 meters per second this is already laughable.

And lastly, the OP just wanted me to give my opinions of my take on the game and what I thought of it, so I did so. There's no reason you need to get mad at me for simply stating how the game looks to me.

I hated Mirror's Edge, and I don't know why. I just did. To no END.

But I'm looking forward to Brink, mostly so I can either wheel around as a freerunner or suck at that and play as a big, muscle-bound powerhouse who takes pot shots at the freerunners who have mastered their art that I am so jealous of.

I heard there were problems with SMART, however, in that you find yourself running /into/ things you should be running /over/ like short walls, etc.

The game looks like Borderlands (minus the story) meets Asscreed (again, -the story). If you've spent enough time randomly running up walls and getting killed for it when you meant to just run along the ground in Asscreed, you can begin to understand just about how bad free running can be in a shooter.

Since you can't free run while shooting, I really don't see any point in even having the feature. If you wanted to go all Jackie Chan and shoot guys while running up a wall, that might just be a slice of pure awesome. However, I see nothing about being able to free run and shoot at the same time.

I'm guessing this game isn't going to do very well. Any shooter that pimps free running as a primary feature is focused on the wrong thing.

Stupid people just annoy me, sorry.
To clarify, I'm stupid for stating my opinions or I'm stupid because they do not coincide with your own?

I think your opinion is completely valid AC10. Not sure what blue guy or anyone else is talking about.
