^ I can't say I've used Games For Windows, what makes it so unusable?
But I agree, no one should have to pay for the additional content, but I can't see that changing any time soon.

It's made by Microsoft. They decided that by clicking on the FAQ that asks where to get Microsoft points to, to give you a pop-up window, with a link that brings up another popup window, sending you back to the place you were originally at...yeah. Real user-friendly. Come back, Steam, all is forgiven!

Sounds like something Microsoft would do :p
I have Steam downloaded, but I don't use it much, if worst came to worst I could never game on my laptop!

Forgive me, but isn't Broken Steel their way of saying "Oops! Just kidding! It didn't really have that shitty ending!"?

Yes because extending the gameplay beyond the ending and in fact having to severly retool the ending to add a whole extra quest to it costs the developers nothing and therefore they don't need to be reimbursed. It's not enough they admitted they dropped the ball, no apparently they must pay further for it. Hell why don't you sue them to get a free download code for Broken Steel if it pisses you off that badly?

Or you could just admit that you're blowing this out of proportion.
If I'm not mistaken, the guy was asking for the game to continue on after it ended. And again, if my facts are right, MODDERS have bodged the game to let you keep playing after the main quest ends within the first couple of months after FA3's release. And that's for free. Why couldn't Bethesda release a quick patch which meant the game didn't 'end' per se, and put the Broken Steel content out as a separate release?

Even if it is, I'm looking forward to it :p
I would have preferred one longer, continuation of the story DLC oppose to 3, two of which not really adding to the story.

The last of the three Fallout3 DLC's is just a couple weeks from release.
in this new donwload able part of the game you fight alongside with the Brotherhood of steel against the remaining Enclave soliders in the capitol wasteland. yes boys and girls this DLC takes place after the mainquest has ended! the represenative from bethesa said they might alter the main quest line. I find that perfect becouse frankly, the last quest ruined the whole bloody game. anyway what expectations do you guys have for this final DLC for the capiol wasteland? will it be good? will it suck? did you like The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage? are you going to buy it? will the altering of the Main questline be an improvment?
god lets hope so!
give your opinion, and if you have som valid information I forgot writing then please help yourself :D
Where are you getting your information from? I have checked everywhere and cannot find anything that resembles an official release date.
http://talkingaboutgames.com/news/interviews/3671-we-ask-bethesda-our-burning-questions-about-the-pitt-dlc in the end of that interview he says it will be realesed late april or early may :D
I hope so since I have the Pitt untouched since I am waiting for the new level cap before I play it. I am not going to hold my breath though since after they gave the same type of interview and said the same things then the Pitt got delayed by a month which delayed Broken Steel.

They should have released BS first!

I've had no problems with the Pitt thus far, but I haven't finished it yet (I have almost no time to play games these day, sadly) but I also didn't finish the main story yet b/c of all the DLC I knew was coming down the pipe, and I've grown rather attached to my character, so much so that when the system didn't give me the achievement "Scientific Progress" for some unknown reason (I finished the quest, but no points for me) I didn't want to start all over to get it... maybe I should try to find that save game, I almost always make a new one... anyway, whatever, the point is... I want to get me some higher xp level, yeah... I don't know, I lost it there, sorry

Well, I'm going to get Broken Steel for sure. I'm also going to get the other 2 DLCs along with it for one massively epic playthrough.
Be prepared for something not Fallout with Operation Anchorage, it really tries to be more of a FPS, like Call of Duty, which is just plain isn't.

They should change the story line so that when you go to get the G.E.C.K and activate it, the game ends and you save the world by destroying the Super Mutant lab and turning the wasteland into a verdant paradise, just like the GECK is meant to

Hell yeah. I want to see what they came up with to fix the crappy ending.

I didn't like O:A, but the Pitt was much better.

I hope they release an actual expansion pack after the DLCs though. Something with at least 20 hours of gameplay or something.

You can actually ask Fawkes to go into the chamber and do it, but then he says something like "We all have our destiny in life, and I would not rob you of yours." Still doesn't really make sense, I agree.

So does anybody have a definite release date for Broken Steel yet?? I can't wait! To be honest more because they will raise the level cap than for the actual new content, I want more perks and skill points! I still have plenty of places to explore in the regular game.
Response to the above spoilered section:

Interesting. I suppose they didn't offer a "OK Fawkes, but it's not really my destiny in life to die from radiation poisoning, now get in that chamber!". Maybe I'll try and send Charon in when I get to that point. Though I can't imagine anything different happening there.
All the followers have different ways of saying no. There are three radiation proof followers in fallout vanilla; Fawkes, Charon and RL3. RL3 says something along the lines of "Soldier, you aught' to be ashamed of yourself, this is your daddy's fight and you should be the one to finish it!" Charon says "Haven't I saved your butt enough times by now?" All in all it is very stupid.

You know, all I really hope for in Broken Steel is that they will open Vault 101 and see them build a 'town' out of it. Damnit, Amata was one of my favorite characters, not to mention I want to see some Mass Effect-esque romance going on.

Don't judge me.

If they somehow revive James, I will have to create a new character. There's nothing worse than hearing the dreaded 'We need to talk' line uttered by a parent.

The G.E.C.K. instantaneously disintegrates all matter around it within a certain radius, so whoever activated it would die anyway. They also can't change the storyline that drastically: there'd be no point in Project Purity.

Actually, they're going to show the effects of the decision you make at the end, not sure how though.

Makes me wonder though, if you just let the chamber explode at the end instead, nothing will actually change right?

There would would probably need to be quite a bit of restructuring to be done if that was to happen. It may not be so easy to fit Vault 101 back into the game, especially if you have completed the Trouble on the Homefront quest.

There's also Clover, who has an explosive collar on which you have the detonator for.

Quite frankly, if you're playing evil (and you can't get Clover if you aren't) you should at least be able to pop her head for refusing.
