I only feel ashamed if I did something morally wrong. You know, something that affects someone else in a significantly negative way. Those who freak out everytime they see a pony avatar just need to grow up. There will always be those who like something that you don't like. Rage solves nothing, and neither does shame.

But I suppose it's human nature to want crush opposing viewpoints. In my humble opinion, I think that's the animal side of human behavior coming out. Intelligence and maturity must override it, otherwise, you'll wind up on reality television.

I used to do this. Used the exact same clip as well. While I'm not ashamed of watching my little pony, I am ashamed of ramming it down people's throats occasionally. While my conversion rate was phenominal, I did burn bridges with this show, and I also created something of a monoculture among my friends. Suddenly, nearly everyone worth hanging out with was interested in ponies, and those who expressed a lack of desire to watch the show were often ostracized by all of my other friends.

It put a new perspective on life for me, and made me realize both the effects a single charismatic persuader can have on people, and also how horrific the effects of assimilation are.

Welcome to the Borg Collective, my friend.

Seriously, there's nothing wrong with Bronies or anyone who's into cartoons past a certain age. I think it only denotes a certain youthfulness of character - so long as it isn't one of the components of someone's Peter Pan Syndrome.

I'm sometimes tempted to get worked up about cloppers or those who actually get off of pony-themed Rule 34 material, but honestly? We live in a day and age where there's porn of EVERYTHING available for free consumption. Some of it might not be legal, but it's there. There's also a growing worry that the sheer fuckton of porn that's on offer is killing the collective male sex drive.

I mean, so long as you get yourself a boyfriend or girlfriend for your social life's sake, do go ahead and occasionally get jiggy with Big Macintosh, for all I care. I'm not the one to beat the "Survival of the Species" drum, not when there's seven freaking billion of us.

I wasn't ashamed of it when I watched the cartoon and chatted with people about it. I still think some of those people are cool, not many, but I think I saw too much of how some bronies could be like. I would be more ashamed of being associated with some bronies, than liking the cartoon.

I'm glad that gw2 pulled me out of it.

Do I feel ashamed for watching a show I enjoy? Nay, good sir, I do not. I enjoy watching My Little Pony every now and again, the show is lighthearted and fun. I have no guilty pleasures, as I don't feel guilty about things that bring a smile to my face. I wouldn't feel ashamed about wearing my MLP shirts out in public either, I have a "My Little Turret" one which looks cool. My parents and friends know that I watch the show too, but they aren't really bothered. I'm not that big a part of the fandom, I just watch the show and enjoy it as it is, I feel no shame for it!

Sometimes the feeling of solidarity outweighs any possible feeling of shame. I'm not a brony per se, but I watched the series to find out what the big deal was and sort of liked it. My ex-girlfriend thought it was stupid to like the show, but then I pointed out all her Powerpuff Girls merchandise and told her it was about appreciating quality, not watching a kids show. Then there was the irony that the same people made them.

I am so ashamed of this show that I've converted two other people to watching it.

(Derpy is best pony.)

I don't flaunt my brony-fandom, but I don't deny that I like the show. If people have an issue with it, then that's their problem; it's not like I'm forcing them to "join the herd" or anything, I just like watching purple unicorns sing about friendship sometimes, you know?

No, I am not. Mostly because of the fact that being a brony got me a girlfriend. After that, we found out we have more things in common and now we will hopefully cross the next barrier and take our relationship to the next level.

But seriously, congratulations.

If you really want to be alienated by your peers and ostracized to no end, try admitting that you're ashamed of liking MLP on the escapist.

At least I imagine this is true. By saying you're ashamed to like MLP you're essentially dissing the show, which many members here seem to devoutly worship, and you're making yourself seem like a hypocrite as well. If any escapists actually are ashamed that they like MLP, I doubt they'd ever say so on this thread.

Personally I couldn't care less about the show or whether anyone likes it, is ashamed to like it, or whatever. I watched an episode to see what all the fuss was about, I think maybe two episodes actually, it seems like a pretty standard cartoon, not as good as some others I watched when I was younger but not shame-worthy either.

I think you really should actually care less than you do, currently you care too much imo

Love and tolerate the shit out of everyone.
LOVE AND F*CKING TOLERATE.

And yeah, it seems to be a mediocre, yet pretty and colorful cartoon which does nothing for me, since the plots are always rehashes of standard kids-cartoon-plots and the jokes do not tickle my fancy either. I respect that some of my peers enjoy said show to an extent which can border on obsession and especially like that the creators put in some jokes for adults to enjoy as well, but as I said, it does nothing for me.
But if you like it, enjoy.

I'd like to say that I'm not ashamed, but I am
I wear my futurama t-shirts in public and my gaming ones, but not my pony ones.
My girlfriend will never discover that I watch ponies, and neither will my friends.
It's not that I'm ashamed, really, I'ts that I'm really not bothered to explain my like for it.

So my question to you, Brony chums, is whether you feel ashamed of your hobby or whether you revel in it? Do you discuss it openly with family and friends or do you restrict your pony-loving to forums or other forms of online interaction? Would you walk down the street in a Pinkie Pie t-shirt (I admit, I had to look the name up) or do you keep your preference a secret? Whichever way you answer, I'd like to ask why - if you feel safe publicaly admitting your tastes, do you ever face harassment for it? If you keep it as a dirty little secret, why? Do you think other people would look down on you?
Nope, not at all. At hearing about the new MLP, I at first was hesitant to even watch it, for I remember the painful memories of that of the first generation. I judge the show for the previous generations rather than for what it was at first. But once I started watching the show, I was hooked and proud to become a brony.

I openly discuss it with my friends and family, but obviously if they didn't want to hear anything about it, I'd drop the issue and continued on with other topics we may want to share. And I would wear a Pinkie Pie shirt, though obviously I'd rather have Rainbow Dash on it instead {Heh he, RD best pony}. I don't mind people knowing what I like and love, but the people that I get annoyed or frustrated with are the people who take shots at us for liking a show.

I rarely ever find harassment from liking something that is considered a kid show, though it's fairly believed that girls are allowed to like shows that are meant for little kids. But there were people who were completely against bronies due to misled information, and are still good friends of mine who are even considering to watch it, if only to see what the hay was it all about, when once they wanted to set bronies and their ponies on fire.

Love and tolerance, love and tolerance. That's my motto.

I've never been ashamed of enjoying myself. Whether is masturbating, playing with toys, or this newest entry: watching a show thought to be intended for little girls. If I enjoy myself, and it's not causing any harm to anyone, then I have no reason to feel ashamed of myself. Because you know why? It effects no one.

if i am ashamed to watch a show intended for little girls which consists of colorful friendship and gui wui lovey dowy scenes (entertainment genera i despise) and little talking horses (the only animal i both fear and hate at the same time) with tramp stamps (flank stamps, he he he). YES I AM! What gave it away.
i am ashamed that i love this cartoon but i will admit it is probably up there next to freekazoid and animaniacs on my list of best cartoons ever. i love friendship is magic. it is just fun. pure and untinted fun. it's funny, it's charming and it makes me laugh, which is something no other new cartoon manage to do. but i don't see it as more then a show. i won't buy the merchandise. i won't go to any bronycon (unless you can give me some one on one time with Tara and the rest of the voice actors that made my childhood awesome), i won't go all out for it. i enjoy it. that's it. it's like with. well you mentioned dr who and borderlands. to change the premise of either of these you will f*** them up.
Dr who the video game
borderlands the animated series
see how horrible these ideas sound. as i see it. stick to what you know, so in MLP's case. stick to making me giggle like a maniac every time i tune in to the hub

I am only 13 but my older brony friend showed me an episode one time and got me hooked on the show.
later at school I accidentally let slip that i was a brony to all my friends. I alienated on of my best mates,
who now thinks im gay, but I also found that one of my other friends is a brony too.

all in all I am kind of ashamed about liking a show meant for little girls but I also love it, the fanbase and community, all the fanworks and the resistance against trolls. Its a great thing, Im just not sure of myself yet.

Nope, but I do, as it were 'hide my powerlevel'. Which really just entails shutting up about MLP unless someone brings it up.
