How has a pony thread gone two pages without a link to the user group?

I'm sorry, I was distracted by the desire to finish reading the Mistborn trilogy, and then I had a final exam to take, and then I was up for another five hours finishing Mistborn (I regret nothing), then an hour and a half of sleep, then another final, and finally I am here.

I think it's time to redefine brony. 'Male fans of MLP' is too broad.
No, it's not broad enough. The term applies to any fan outside the age demographic, male or female.

How are teen boys liking a little girl's show more expected than middle-aged women reading erotic novels? I saw #1 and though "ok, what else is new?"

Except "brony" is derived from "brother" which excluded girls outright. There is no special name for female fans of the show, because girls liking a girl show isn't considered weird.

I don't understand all the hate for MLP.

I mean, sure, it's not for everypony, but someponies like it, and there's no reason for others to put them down for it. Although I do agree that some ponies take it too far. XD
talking like that is the reason, now go sit in the corner till your ready to join the real world.
I see that the irony was either missed or ignored. It's a sad thing, really. You see, the "Although I do agree that some ponies take it too far." bit was supposed to be ironic because I was speaking like they do in the show, which most fans of the show don't do unless speaking amongst ourselves, because we realize that other people won't get it or be annoyed by it. I'm explaining this to you because you either purposely ignored it to be an ass, or just couldn't bother to think about what I wrote before being an ass.

That being said, you can keep your "real world," I want as little to do with it as possible, especially if it's filled with people like you.

*reads history books*

Yep, it is. Wow, people suck. I'll stick with the ponies. XD

I'm a bronie.

Watching the show push me off of a depression I had ( I lost my company and girlfriend around the same time, I went into withdrawal, and started spending too much time in /b/ ), I became more loving, more positive and around a better person.

I was from the first bronies form 4chan, and I focused in using the show to improve yourself as a person, I made challenges in ponychan, around 70 people participated in making their lives better (exercising, taking new classes and such).

I started dating I girl that i wasn't too sure about but I gave her a chance because she kind of looks like pinkie pie (in personality). I started my master degree in engineering, with a full scholarship (and they pay me to study). The girl turned out to be working as a model (I honestly don't see her as beautiful to be working in that, but heck, what I know about the fashion industry) and has a fairly amount of cash, but more importantly she adores me and I adore her; at the end of the year we're going to start living together.

I'm as happy as I can be, with a bright future ahead, I haven't interacted a lot with the bronies because a fast-paced life, but I sometimes see the chapters with my girlfriend.

So, yeah. People can hate and fear and mock bronies, a lot can call me liar telling me nothing is true (And they would be in their right to do so, it's pretty easy to brag about imaginary things in the internet), the lesson that all the bronies get is that it doesn't matter what people thinks of you if you're happy, and you are working the be better.

I hate bronies. Not the show, not the people who like the show, the idiots who are so obsessed with shoehorning it into everything else that they had to give themselves a special name. They're exactly like the Sonic and Final Fantasy fans (who I hate just as much).
Please don't generalize. I'm a huge Sonic fan, as well as a huge Final Fantasy fan, so I kind of take offense to your comment. The term you're looking for is probably fanboy, meaning the ones that take their liking of a certain thing to the extreme and force it on other people. And I do agree that those types of people really do ruin the franchises that they support.

But seriously, generalizations upon a fandom really don't make the accuser any better than the supposed attributes of the accused.

Can't go on ANY forum without stupid gifs and pictures plastered around like gaudy fucking wallpaper.....
To be fair, that wouldn't have been posted in a quote to you if you hadn't have been such a hater on it. Most of us are fine with people not liking it, we understand that it's not for everyone. It's the people that go into a blind rage, or just plain hate on it for shits and giggles that annoy us. Most of us actually keep the pics to ourselves, some, like me, don't have pics at all.
to be fair, a great amount of us are tired of seeing such stupid cartoons (that were created for little girls) on this site over and over again when it has nothing to do with video games. MianusIzBleeding wouldn't have posted a reply if there wasn't another thread about pony's even though you guys have your own group where you can post such things.

Lightweight.
You obviously weren't around for the days of AYB.

And this is back when most of the Internet was still on dial-up.

As for the fad, I still don't care.

But this is a thread ABOUT bronies. You couldn't possibly come in here and NOT expect at least one image of them to pop up.

That, and it's Off-Topic Discussion, so while yes, it is a site abou videogames, it also caters to movies (MovieBob) shows (in case you don't recall the Game of Thrones articles, and MLP is covered under shows), and general culture (also MovieBob, who has had references in his videos to MLP).

Also, not every fan of the show is part of that group. If they were we'de have more than 1,234 members. And no, I'm not making that number up. XD

EDIT: Also, Faust said that she created the show to be entertaining to both the children and their parents, as in, and older and opposite gendered demographic. I can respect your opinion, but please don't insult me and those like me who can appreciate the show for the light hearted humor that it is.

I came to this thread to vent my annoyance with the subject of MLP because there is a group dedicated to this subject. I also generally hate the topic and condemn it when ever I see it.

I don't begrudge them their fun, and if they just talked about the show in proper places (like dedicated threads on forums about cartoons or TV or geek culture or whatever) I would not mind or even notice them. I hate them because they keep barging in to forums and discussion boards I frequent, which are about classic literature, or giant robots, or studying foreign languages, or comic books from more than 30 years ago, or other things that have fuck all to do with ponies, and completely derail perfectly good conversations by showing up and spamming images of ponies until normal communication becomes impossible. That is the face the bronies are presenting to the outside world, so I say: "Fuck them".

Now that that's out of the way, the description in the article seems like a reasonably good fit for the reasonable, sane people I know who happen to like My Little Pony, and who I believe represent the majority of it's actual fan-base (the internet tends to skew perceptions in favor of extremely vocal crazy people). You will note that none of them feel the need to group together under a silly name.
Well in this site at least bronies keep to the MLP fan group and pony threads like this. If it's avatars that you're talking about then you'll have to deal with it. If I can tolerate an avatar that brings back memories of watching my own brother in pain, then you can tolerate something that is just there because they like the show. Think about it this way, if everyone had avatars about Obscure Anime No.234 then nobody would be complaining, mainly because most animes are for males.

OT: Thank god they didn't bash on it too much. I'd rather let the trolling be done by some random internet guy than a proffesional writer. I applaud this article, they actually did their research and they approached the manner in a way that doesnt make you sound like a 12 year old. Also guys, using insults like "ponyfags" is not gonna make us hate the show like you, we like the show and you will just have to deal with it.

Off-topic Discussion new!
Music, movies and drink recipes - non-game talk.

Yes there is a user group but I'm sure not everyone checks the group everyday like the forums. It's not as if pony threads are that common anymore, maybe one a week if that, reminding again the most of the pony threads here were either by haters or people not knowing it was about, basically bait for bronies. Also take note that pony threads always have a substantial amount of discussion in them compared to general polls and questions like the 'What would you do in a Zombie apocalypse?' days of yore.

Why would you waste the time and energy to go out of your way to be a pain to a group of people who are relatively harmless? I mean, seriously, why do it? XD

I'm sure you could be doing something more productive with your life than trying to cause problems by condemning something that you've probably never seen.

There are also user groups for Fallout, the Elder Scrolls, Bioware, Blizzard, pretty much every popular gaming thing, actually. Do you also complain when people choose to talk about any of those?

Maybe we shouldn't bother with the forum at all and just move all discussion into user groups. The horrible, inconvenient user groups.

Yep, actually not my idea though. I asked for a character derping and someone showed me this (I'll find out who in a sec). Thanks to the MLP user group for showing me it, and TimeLord for resizing it.

Seriously guys, the MLP user group is one of the friendliest i've been in, maybe it will lighten up your day!

I have a similar story to this, actually. I'm a college student who lives at home because I've pretty much always lived in the town the college I attend is.

Last December, my mom was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in March. I spent damn near every waking moment I had with her while she was sick, and when she passed, I fell into a depression. I'm not teribly close to my dad, but we've gotten closer since mom got sick, and while I didn't understand the MLP thing when mom was sick, I saw it around, and decided to try it for myself. It looked fun and lighthearted, and I needed something to pick me up.

I watched the whole season over the course of a week, and not only did it help me come to terms with what happened, it's also given me a new perspective on life. I'd like to think that the show has inspired me to be a nicer person, and I generally enjoy life more now, even the smaller things.
