You seem to be under the impression that the "gangsta'" mentally disabled. He wasn't,the guy he was harassing WAS.

Closer to the the topic,I don't feel this act was justified.I myself have been psychologically picked on\bullied(not too such a great extent as in the aforementioned scenario, but anyway)even so I don't think my assailants deserve capital punishment, however hurt I may feel so.

I can understand the father's sentiments however, as he was mentally challeged(not big on PC words but I sympathize with them unusually more than I would with others) but don't believe either of the two opposing parties deserved to be let off as lightly as they did.

I don't feel an existence should be extinguished for an uneducated mistake you made in a fit of youthful arrogance.Do not talk of the dead so lackadaisically.Man has but a single life...Or that's what most people except for Buddhists,Jains and Hindus(?) believe. And it's safe to assume there's no heaven.

I didn't mean to get so preachy but there you have it,all neatly typed out.Shame to delete it.

I hate bullies and these guys got what was coming to them. I would not kill anyone if I was in his place though. Killing him doesn't make the father better than the brats. I do not understand why he had to chase him down and shooting him dead. He shot his arm. That usually does the trick. He is kinda justified though. His family was threatened and harassed. Excessively. So I am with the father on this one but I am not up for executing someone.

Ok, there might be reason for shooting the teens in the first place, but walking up and killing the one he'd already shot. thats cold, it wasn't self defence by that point, it was vengeance, and not permissible

Whatever the father did, regardless of whether it was Over the Top, is immediatly forgiven when I imagine the look on that terrified "leader" of the gang fleeing for his life behind a bush

The cowering, whimpering little scumbag...it makes me smile

The man suffered from a mental condition, had his family and himself threatened and harassed over a long term period, sounds like he snapped and those shits got what was coming to them, they knew what they did every day for kicks. That kind of view on their own life and the people around them is unbelievable. And what do you think the odds were of the kid straightening out and becoming a nice guy anyway?
Those kids sounded like the guys that piss you off daily and you never just throw that fist straight at em, you know the types, i can completely sympathise with that guy, he deserved to get off at any rate.

The fuck? I can understand the first move but then he went all Rambo and fucking destroyed the kid.

Depends if he was under stress or something, if he was cool, calm and collected then I would give him the big NO. Sure teenagers can become scum of the earth but killing them is a bit over the top for me.

Under 18 or not, the little shits deserved to get shot. Maybe not killed, but definitely shot a lot.

Yes. Although taking life is not a good thing I think that defending your family from those guys would have come first. But as you said he did have some mental conditions so even though he killed he did the right thing.

That father had ADHD and tourettes, the first shot is excusable, but the resulting guilt and, more likely, fear would have sent him into overdrive.

this sin't exactly bullying this is more liikke.... raiding the house

I tend to put the limits to as high as the enemy and at first not killing them but just
"disabling" and then if they dont stop continue as far as the offender would.

Not trying to cause offence here but has anybody noticed the trend of under 18's being pricks and aggressive has risen since Children were given more rights?
I remember it when I was a kid, my friends would be a little shit then shout out at the person they were abusing.
"You can't do SHIT I got RIGHTS!"
they used it as an excuse to be little "Badassess"

EDIT:

Shooting one of them in actual defense could be justified. But hunting one of them down after he has taken off and finishing him off in cold blood? It's not right. However, I understand the hate he must have had for these kids, and to be honest, I am not sure what I would've done put in his shoes. I think it's very wrong, though.

It is right that the man should be distressed and ashamed of shooting anybody to death, for any reason, particularly when the already-wounded individual was fleeing, eliminating the danger.

I believe he did the best he could in trying circumstances, the hoods shouldn't have been at the guys house with such a black intent, much less at all.

How far CAN you go is the nutshell of it, whatever you do you'll be judged differently by different people and different cultures, trying to guess what side of a shifting amorphous line the majority will come down on isn't gonna be forefront of your mind when you're staring down a barrel from any end. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say...

from what I gathered, the punks were on his property. he should have shot more, and gotten away with less.
The problem is it's not America. In Poland, for example this would pass as a double murder on a minor and a father of a family would go to prison, possibly for the rest of his life. Generally in Poland you are allowed to only use the same kind of weapon as the attacker. If 2 guys will jump me on the street and I'll cut one with a knife, if I will be cought by the police, I will be the one who will most likely end up in jail.

Generally what Americans don't apreciate enough is the amount of freedom when it comes to property and guns. I Europe noone have guns, exept for criminals.

Still I'm glad that this guy was living in a civilized country where the used his condition as a way to free him.

To add to the topic, we've had a similar thing in Poland. A mad man was terorizing a village, threatening people with knifes that he will kill them. Finally some man gathered and killed this guy. They were found guilty but sentence was hmmm... I don't know the word, when you are sentenced to, lets say, 2 years but you are set free under the condition that you will not commit any other crime for a given period of time.
This caused quite a stir as people were asking about how far can a defence go. Police did nothing and guys basically lynched this psycho to defend themselves.

The father acted correctly. If you threaten a family, youd better be ready for the consquences.
