Father told me not to go looking for fights, start fights or take part in them. The next breath he told me that if someone forces a fight however, I'm free to defend myself and as long as that rule of self-defence is unbroken, I'll never catch any flak from him regarding fights.
And this, in my opinion, is the best attitude towards bullies. Bullying is a form of abuse, and often ignoring won't make it go away. So the best choice is to stand up for yourself.

I've seen my brother getting hit a couple of times, and I always made sure to give the kids hitting him a hard time.

I go to a pretty small school (about 400 people in my school and it a has a high school and middle school) and the people I've gone to school with I've been going with since I was in preschool. Bullying isn't really supposed to be a big deal at my school. The town next to ours had a girl kill herself because of the cyber bullying. When we talked about it at our school people were incredibly callous and one of them told me that they didn't like someone they would go out of their way to make the other person feel like shit instead of you know, ignoring them. I've gotten pretty minimal bits of bullying happen to me, never physical, and usually assholes. Worst thing I can remember happening is having a new kid pushed into a surrounded harassed to the point he started crying and then a bunch of guys crowded around him and started laughing at him. I wasn't there but if I was I would have killed those mother fuckers. Ooh also a kid broke the front door of our school and snuck up behind and beat the shit out of my friend. Broke his nose.

I'm fine! I'm telling you!

I haven't killed anyone, and I don't plan to. This guy was being an unbelievable bastard to me, and I was basically driving myself insane, so I didn't really know what I was doing.

Don't worry, I don't try and kill people regularly.
No, no, no, no, no, no-no, no, no, nooooooo. No.

...No.

I don't blame you for doing what you did, I admire you for it actually, It just so happens to scare the shit out of me.

Bullies made my time in school very depressing. Do I wish anything bad on them? No, I do not.

I know they suffer from the disease called moronic dumbness and well it doesn't get any sadder than that.

I've never been bullied to my face. Myself and all my classmates are too wimpy to actually say anything to anyone's face, so you never know if you've been bullied at my school.

Actually, there was this one kid who constantly tried to piss off a almost 6foot kid on field trips. The tall guy ended up hitting the shorter one with a chair. Don't know if that was bullying or not, but it was entertaining.

My sister had to get homeschooled because of bullying. The day before she left, she punched out the "ringleader".
It was awesome.

As I am not the most attractive person, I get that weird fake interest from girls (oh man, look at that stuuuuuuddddd!!1! Heeeeeeeeey Toooooom!) Along, with the typical, "ha! look at the nerd!" comments.

It sickens me when people can't even think of an insult beyond "hur hur, He look funny!!!".

EDIT: Does making fun of bullies count as bullying? 'Cos me and my friends do that alot.

Yeah i had bullies once. Except the dumb shits where all smaller than me. Idiots.
Then i joined the local Football team. Its amazing how once you do sports nobody picks on you anymore. And im not the only one to notice that. My mum is a teacher and at her school they get allot of immigrants who don't speak much English and would be ripe pickings for bullies, which her school also has an abundance off. So what they do is they encourage them to play sports, which they usually are quite good at. And the ones that do don't get bullied.

Funny, we say "Stand up to bullying" but we are punished for responding to the crap the bullies themselve pull and the teachers punishments are joke. Teachers are too lenient and tend to punish both the bully and the victem. I even got in trouble for telling a bully who was bugging me for 3 days straight "Go to hell you stupid *****", principal didn't even punish her for crying out loud!

I have no problem with people standing up against bullies and stuff liek that. The problem is many schools (atleast the few I have attended) have a policy of punishing both parties. If kid gets picked on, kid tells bully to fuck off, bully punches him in face, fight breaks out, both the kid and the bully will receive equal punnishment, even though the kid was just defending himself.

What the fuck?

I've never really experience bulling that much in my life, but when I do, eugh, it hurts. It's nothing physical but I still feel like shit. It's the worst when you get bullied by your "friends". I had one kid try to convert me to Christianity since I was Jewish. Thankfully the other kids were cool to me and stood up for me then.

Then I had this one asshole taunt me for a month for calling me gay and for being Jewish. [small](See a pattern here? :p)[/small] Never went there again. I still have violent images of throwing a chair on him and even gutting him alive.
... Yes, I too think I'm crazy. :p

Heh, I was bullied between the age of 5 and 11 for being Chinese. Teachers gave me special treatment, allowing me to stay inside the classroom during lunch breaks to avoid the bullies, but that made them bully me even more. I moved to a private school when my parents had enough money, and the bullying pretty much stopped.

I've learnt that telling teachers doesn't work. You tell the police, and ask them to contact the school. THEN SHIT STARTS HAPPENING!

I never really got bullied in school. I guess i got lucky and made friends with more of the assholes in grade one. That and i have a large "dont care" attitude, so its not so interesting to bug me. But my other friends on the other hand. Man I feel bad... One girl I think I saved from suicide on more than one occasion, and another friend (thankfully oblivious to most of this) was disliked by most of the school. It ended up as most of my friends not liking my other friends. So i may not have been bullied, but being forced to choose sides was quite taxing

At my high school fighting back made you a more likely target, cause the bullies knew they'd get a reaction and likely still beat the crap out of you.

My advice, stick it out till university, bullying seems to be much rarer at that stage of the education system.

I'm undecided.

On one side it's just evolution running its course, and if you can't stand that then it shouldn't be the problem of others. On the other hand are the bullies usually not the brightest types themselves, making it hard for me to judge what's fair and what isn't.

I've been bullied my whole life. It got so bad that I've been in homeschooling for 4 years now. Which isn't much better in my opinion. I'm lonely and isolated and made my anxiety way worse because I haven't been exposed to anything for all those years. I'd be surprised if I don't commit murder when the bullying starts all over again when I go back.

So I hate bullying. Very very much.
