That's a poultry display of fire power. I hope there wasn't anyone egging him on in this fowl attack on his liberties. He might have deserved a bit of bird but this seems really chicky. I hope this plucky farmer was able to egg-stricate himself.
...Excuse me while I dry my tears and try to pick myself off the floo-*reads the post again, and collapses into laughter a second time*

Well played sir, well played.

Did anyone get hurt? Did they fire the gun? Or was it just a big show? I honestly don't see a problem with it, especially if Steven Segal's show was flipping the bill.

Are you nitwits really believing that (poorly photoshopped) self-propelled artillery piece was used in a SWAT operation?

Did you watch the linked-to video? Did the OP?

Excessive force, sure; armored SWAT vehicles -which have next to nothing in common with howitzers- are still overkill in this situation.
But the use of them in police actions as such is nothing special.

Oh, and Seagal is a desperate has-been who has apparently made some nitwitted Sheriff believe he can ride his has-been fame all the way to the next election.
Shock. Horror.

EDIT: After consulting the all-knowing internet for a moment, it seems like this Sheriff could indeed think up something like this. Still not sure about that picture, though; looks fishy to me. And using a howitzer for a bust-in is not just overkill, but outright silly.
Seems like there's a lot to hang this guy up on without having to resort to 'shops of "police tanks".
That is infact the real tank that they used in the raid, if you notice the video said that most of the police were gone by then so its likely that the tank was gone as well. Heres a quote from the Sheriff's own web site
"Well, actually it's a self propelled "Howitzer" emblazoned with anti-drug messages and a new tool to educate our children of the dangers of drug abuse. The Howitzer was donated by the Department of Defense and we are proud to have the ultimate weapon on the war on drugs in our arsenal."

They aren't, they were just along for the ride.

You know, even though I know this is a waste of tax payer money. It is just so awesome that I don't care. I'm not even mad, I'm impressed.

The best part is this guy is really close with the Tea Party who claim to be all about fiscal responsibility, I don't know about you but I don't think a tank is very fiscally responsible

You make the tank fiscally responsible, duh. That is why they brought it along to bust a guy only suspected of cock fighting. They bought it, now they have to use it.

Excuse me while I go celebrate the fact that I live in Europe.
You go ahead and celebrate that. I'm going to celebrate the fact that I live in a country badass enough to use a tank to scare the shit out of this asshole.[footnote]Just joking around. I love England.[/footnote].

Seriously, this is one of the best things I've read in a long time. Just the absurdity of it. And Steven Segall operating it is just the icing on the cake. I need to share this with more people.

It's in Arpaio's style to do this. I remember watching a documentary on the war on drugs that showed his tent camp and underwear policy. He's all about sending a message to criminals and humiliating them.

As for the actual use of a tank, I'm fairly sure we've done worse. If foreigners think this is bad, they should know about that time we were minutes away from sending an Apache helicopter and firing a Hellfire missile at a rural Colorado town, because some guy was destroying the place in a homemade tank. That was the closest we've come to launching an airstrike on our own soil - over a fed up welder who spent a year and a half building a Panzer tank out of an earth mover and some concrete.

Look at it this way. What else are we gonna use the tanks for?
