HA! "Tommy, this lady will do anything you want, just dont take that rubber thing off." Wow.
Safety first, kiddies!

Oh and:

Cartman: What's to understand? You get a boner, slap her titties around some and then stick it inside her and pee.

Kyle: Stick it inside her and pee?

Cartman: Well, okay, fine. Unless you don't want to get her pregnant, then you pull it out and pee on her leg.

That might be one of the worst articles i've ever read. I probably won't be that up-front about sex with my children at the age of 8, but...

a) There are exactly zero studies by reputable organizations which have proven conclusively that pornography is itself "harmful material." Nixon actually funded studies deliberately trying to prove it, and was unsuccessful. They made laws against it anyway.

b) Quoting the man's ex-wife as a legitimate source of information is probably the dumbest thing anyone has ever done in the history of writing.

c) Since we've already determined that the writer of the article is a biased sensationalist, I'd be very interested to find out what this guy actually showed his kids. A video depicting two people having sex where you can tell that vaginal penetration has occurred doesn't necessarily equal hardcore pornography.

c) The writer of this article seems upset about the fact that the the man can't be retroactively prosecuted if the law is repealed, which I think makes the writer of this article a Fascist and a horrible person.

So thanks, OP, for bring to our attention what a Nazi Joseph Brenner is. Maybe we should all deny that sex exists like Sarah Palin does, then our daughters can get knocked up before they make it out of high school.

I heard this story a while back from the local news network. Worst part is that he got away with it. Apparently under Texas Law you're allowed to teach your kids about sex through hardcore pornography. The System sucks somtimes...
True. In fact, some states have made it illegal to have sex in any other position than missioonary. Tell me that dosnt show lawmaker stupidity.
its actually illegal in many states to have anything other than regular sex, no oral, etc etc. this is what happens when we give up freedom for the illusion of safety.
so dude what your saying is that in some states if you do any of those thing a cop will burst in your door and yell "your underarrest for having a realy freken good time!" i remember learning about sex by just loooking it up while my parents were sleeping.

Porn doesn't really teach you anything about real sex.

Things porn lied to me about.

1. Foreplay is when you make the girl choke on your penis.

2. Those awesome sex positions are actually pretty uncomfortable and impractical in real life.

3. Don't bother about her enjoyment, just concentrate on yours.

4. The girl loves having you ejaculate on her face.

I watched porn from a young age but I actually learnt how to please a woman from all those late night sex documentaries they used to show in the UK.
See I learnt a lot about sex from a combination of my dad's porn that I found hidden around the house when I was ten, but surprisingly even more in magazines targeted at females. look through them and you'd be surprised how many have a section called something like "25 ways to have great sex" "The nine must try sexual positions" "The twenty things every woman should know about her own body" or whatnot. These magazines are an absolute goldmine when it comes to knowing how to touch and enjoy a woman. Reading these taught me things like the sensitive areas of a woman, how to bring them to climax, and what good foreplay technique actually is. Never once had a complaint because of it.

Just don't get caught reading them in public. It's harder to explain why you're reading a copy of Cosmopolitan than it is to explain why you're looking at regular porn.

That and newspaper advice columns teach you more about sex than any sex-ed class, and allow you to avoid the embarrassing mistakes and common misconceptions everyone seems to have about sex. Combine that with genuine honesty about sex, admissions of what is a known turn on/turn off, and an experimental attitude, and nigh on everyone can be fantastic in bed regardless of whether there hung like a horse or a horse-fly.

I don't see it as all that different as from those lame ass health-class books. Just more intersting.

We should be encouraging parents to talk to their kids about sex before they go trying to figure out for themselves.

As long as the dad wasn't making them PERFORM any of these acts, I see no major issues here.
What did they learn from watching the porno besides what sex looks like? How is that helpful? Lets be honest here; before we had sex ed (either in class or with parents), most of us knew what sex looks like. I think you're focusing more on the fact that people don't want to show their kids the ugly truth of sex...and while I wholeheartedly agree that parents should be much more forward with their kids about sex, porn is not a very useful way to do it.
I decided to give the man the benefit of the doubt. I assume that he was indeed teaching his kids what sex looks like. He may indeed have shown them condom use and perhaps all the different parts. (because without going out and buying a sex book, and without molesting your children it is pretty hard to convey what you are saying. Especially if you suck at drawing)

Why is he teaching his kid about sex, again?

Honestly, what happened to kids teaching themselves?
And...no.
Not like that.

But if I want to know something, I find out about it.
If I don't, I don't.
I taught myself. Who needs parents when you have TV and Internet?

This guy has some pretty weird teaching methods. I mean, couldn't he just explain?

I wonder if he had a ruler and would pause the video to point things out
What if he used a projector and laser pointer?

OT: I was never taught the basics of sex personally. It just kind sort of came (hehe) to me during those thrity magical minutes.
30 minutes!?!? damn girl, tell that guy he sucks[/joke]

well... i dont see what the problem is, sex is not a theme to be ashamed of, and if he wanted to teach his kids how it "looked" is a good way of doing it, i was thought by my parents the basics, but for "pleasure spots", "positions", "foreplay" and such things i found out trough porn, now i am a fairly good sexual partner, i dont think he was wrong at what he did.

This is quite funny. I think the kids were a little young, but using pornography to teach about sex is a pretty good idea. After all, why fumble your way through it with your personal biases and restrictions getting in the way when you can have a professional do it? After all, it's how we teach just about everything else (yes, I did just liken porn stars to teachers). However, it would be best not to use the hardcore stuff to teach the basic mechanics (although we never actually learn what the blogger's definition of 'hardcore' is, so how bad it actually was is anyone's guess).

Depending on where he got the porn, that could be incredibly awkward...did you see the South Park episode with the porno tape?
*shudders*
And I thought my parental sex talk was hellish...
My parents have never mentioned the subject, except to make sure I use protection. They just assumed I had found out for myself.

Sometimes there are advantages to your parents thinking "badly" of you.

This would make a great South Park episode:

"Son, it's time I talk to you about what sex is."

*clicks a little and plays video, then hears moaning from computer, unzips his pants...*
