Equalisers...Chickenooble said:Mr F. said:If the cops over here dont need them I dont see why I would need one. That's your reason, imo. Despite you or the police not wanting to carry a firearm, other people will (legally or not) and they might be willing to turn that firearm on you. I like to think of everyone carrying firearms as 'equalizers'...Mr F. said:Being someone who has had firearms pointed at me on multiple occasions
Edit: Clarity
I've shot a Sig p226 and absolutely hated it. The trigger just felt awful, much too soft and floaty with too long a pull. Not sure if it was just the one I fired being poorly maintained by the range, or if all of them are like that, but I absolutely don't want a Sig.NinjaDeathSlap said:If it's definitely a 9mm you want, I'd say that the Sig-Sauer P226 is best. If not, then the FN Five-Seven.
Basically, if you want a gun, of any sort, your probably best going to the Belgians.
than get one from you local shady guy with hoodie. OT i actuelly liked the Sig. but did you ever try a glock? one of my favorites next to the taurus and FNDirty Hipsters said:I've shot a Sig p226 and absolutely hated it. I haven't tried the FN Five-Seven, though I have heard good things. I don't have any of them at any local gun store, and ordering firearms online is a huge pain in the ass where I live, so I prefer not to.
I've tried quite a few glocks actually, the 17, the 20, the 22, and the 34. They're alright guns. They point well and I like their grips, but they aren't what I'm looking for. They feel too light for me, and I don't like the way they eject casings.exessmirror said:than get one from you local shady guy with hoodie. from the choices that you have i would choose the m9 (never shot one) over the CZ, my friend owns one and it tends to jam a lot, but maybe it is just his.Dirty Hipsters said:I've tried quite a few glocks actually, the 17, the 20, the 22, and the 34. ignoring the politics of your comment, most ranges don't rent guns for insurance and cost/benefit reasons.Elementary - Dear Watson said:If you want to go to a range, they have guns... and if you want to go hunting, or game shooting, why the fuck are you buying a pistol?
This. I don't want to be the guy who starts the requisite guns debate, but I just don't get how owning a piece means you'll get better at handling it, versus setting yourself a decent rental schedule at the shooting range.Elementary - Dear Watson said:![]()

Because they are all the guns a person needs at home...

I'm guessing you live in a city, because in rural Canada there is a pretty high rate of firearm ownership and a very prevalent culture surrounding the shooting sports/hunting. I would say that handguns, while not nearly as common as rifles or shotguns, are far from being considered a rare possession. Perhaps it varies from province to province, idk..IamLEAM1983 said:Go Maliwan. I mean, shit. They SHOOT FIRE AND ACID AND ELECTRICITY AND SHIT.

I really can't afford to judge anyone, though. Where I'm from, we tend to have a very "Gunz? LOLWHUT? These are for cops!" policy, which guarantees that your average Joe knows jack shit about them pew-pews and boom-booms.
If you really feel you need one for your personal protection then, jeeze, allow me to be impressed and possibly dismayed, seeing as this seems to imply your neighbourhood is very dodgy. I'm probably wrong, but hey. Sheltered Canadian white dude speaking, here.
If you're just a casual shootist, well... Have fun? I guess?
