Frank followed the group, not falling too far behind. He was scared, he tryed to hide it but the cold sweat and constant jittering gave it away. He walked into the office and looked around. After seeing the bizzare symbol on the table to done a quick sketch of it in his notebook.

"Geez I dont like this.. This is not right mates.. not right at all"

Opening it up is a cashe of weapons. 2 12-gauge shotguns (Two shots per round. Dam=4D6 at 10 yards. 2D6 at 20 yards and 1D6 at 10.) 4 .32 revolver's (3 shots at 1D8 for 15 yards) and one .30-06 bolt action rifle (1/2 shots per round, 2D6+3 firing up to 100 yards).

There is also the map to Memnon and enough money for everyone on the boat.

"Holy-!" Travis exclaims in dumb founded surprise. Motionlessly, Travis taps Jack on the shoulder and shows him the weapons cach. Unloading the contents of the safe, several of the weapons now lay on the Professors desk. Looking back into the safe, Travis also finds a large store of money and a map, with the location "Memnon" clearly outlined with its route shown. With hand on his chin, Travis stares at the assembled mass of guns before picking up a .32 revolver and pocketing it.

Travis sticks the pistol into his pocket and slips his crow bar into his belt, however doesnt pocket the money nor map as he decides that it wouldnt make sense for him to carry it all. "I'll go alert the others to our find Jack, so you stay here and see if you can dig anything else up." Travis says before leaving. With his confidence regained, thanks to the array of goodies Travis has found, he manages to forget for the moment the horrible surprise still in the basement. The group watches Travis as he descends, and he stops at the foot of the stairway. Taking a deep breath, Travis begins to tell all what has been discovered.

"I have some grim news to tell you all." Travis starts with a nervous voice. "In the basement, we have found two dead bodies, one which I presume is the dead Professor who has gone missing.". The group were stunned at this revelation, and listened intently as Travis continues. "Upstairs, we have also made some significant discoveries. In total, I have discovered a book that needs to be decyphered, preferrably by someone who understands the Modern Egyptian language well. In the Professors Office, several guns and notes were found inside his safe, and some sort of cultist symbol.".

Travis finishes with "Now, what do we do?".

Jack looks over the weapons and turns to Frank. "Do you know how to work any of these, if you do take one and some ammunition but not too much, we need to share. I'm going to see if there is anything else in this room. Jack puts his ear to the wall and starts looking.

Do I have the revolver I gave my character at the start or should I take one from the safe, Also I rolled a 26 for spot hidden, do I find anything?

His ascent cut short by Travis descending the same flight of stairs, Tony backed up into the main hall, as Travis started to fill them in on what happened. While the others might be more concerned with the book or the symbol or even the guns, one detail stood out in Tony's mind.

"Wait a minute. These corpses... you 'presume' one of them is Spencer? Surely you could tell just by looking."

Frank, feeling better about the contents sitting the desk takes a deep breath. After a few moments thinking about the situation he looks at the weapons

With a stern voice he says "I think I would feel safer if I held on to one of these.. If its all the same to you"

You have 2 actually. The revolver at the start and the auto from the guard. Looking around the room very carefully with your investigator hawk eyes, you spot a matchbox on Spenser's desk. Knowing full well he doesn't smoke (well, he didn't) you take a look at it. 'The Uptown Beat'

Don't fret that he was out huntin' for the big one. Guns are common on dig sites mostly to ward off grave robbers, or hunt animals. Plus you need a little armourment.

On the note, I'm off for the night. A few questions curculating I know, but sleep is advised for myself. Keep pondering on what you've seen and found.

Wordlessly, Travis draws out the set of keys. He then explains that when searching the burnt body, he found this set of keys in one of the charred pockets, and shows the metal ingravings of the key notes. Travis explains "I said I only presumed, it just may not even be the Professors body. But with his absence, we have to asume for now that his dead because we have no valid places to search for him.". Travis pauses, then states "That is, if he hasnt already left for Memnon... Maybe whoever killed these people took the Professor to the Dig Site?".

OOC: Now, its time for sleep. Feel free to use my character, as long as it isnt anything too drastic (NOTE, feel free to attempt to decrypt the book I'm carrying).

Jack picks up a small object from the desk. "The Up Town Beat huh. Sounds like a club." He looks over at the weapons and then at Frank who has a puzzled look on his face.

"I found this Matchbox, strange seeing as how Doctor never smoked. It says Up Town Beat, maybe if we find out about this place we might learn what happened to the Doctor. I also have the address to our friend Saheed and a list of some of the Doctors recent finds, some old book and a couple of knives. And I don't mind if you take one of those guns as long as you know how to point it in the right direction, I'd recommend a handgun, easier to use".

OOC:I too must go to bed.

with the private spoiler tags - I take it I'm not actually supposed to read them; I haven't yet, but couldnt tell why you just didn't PM them if it was for their eyes only, as it makes things very confusing for those who haven't been here...I don't envy Root who will have to catch up on even more it seems.

Jacob rose to a sitting position, taking a glance at the clangs and chinks as bottles of various forms of alcohol fell off his bed. It would seem instead of a blunt intstrument he had settled for a blunt beverage to aid his sleep, a slight pain in the front of his head foreshadowing the possible consequences for this. As he carefully avoided stepping on anything made of glass, he warily noticed a slight movement in his vision as the room failed to stay still when he did, but after washing and dressing this dizzy feeling began to pass.

He found no one in the embassy save for the Receptionist, who kindly told him that his party had once again visited the Musuem across the road. He contemplated asking where Spencer was, but the pain in his head became a sharp pang when he tried to speak full sentences, and therefore he settled for using his other information-gathering abilites, namely looking and seeing, and after retrieving a flask of water from the Dining Room, he set off for the Museum.

By the time he had entered the Museum Jacob had drained his flask and was feeling almost well again, but his recovered state of mind was slightly broken by the ominous sounds his own footsteps made - the place seemed entirely empty; a set of footsteps echoed down a staircase near him, but other than that he could hear nothing and see no one near him.

The only sign of life coming from the stairs, he begins to ascend but is cut short when many other people come down the other way. A man named Travis explains the situation, but Jacob feels that the man, in his haste, may have left something out;

"You say you found some notes? What was on them? And did any of you note down the symbol? And, forgive my criticism, but when dead bodies turn up a couple guns and an egyptian book do not sound like significant leaps in the direction of answers - are you sure there was nothing else you noticed? As for the book I'm afraid I cannot help if it is Egyptian - for the record though, I'm not half bad with Latin or Sanskrit though, and I've spent a lot of my life researching the occult, so if it was really a cult symbol I may be able to help."

Guys, you need to slow it down for people like Root who will have many pages to catch up on even if they don't read the spoiler tags they aren't supposed to. You also need to make it clear what you've found - I haven't read those tags, so I have no idea what Toe means, for example, when he says notes or symbols. It is okay to develop character etc. but significant discoveres like that do need to be told openly at some point, for the sake of those that won't be back for a while like Root.

Frank smiles, the first time in a while. He snatches up one of the handguns and walks back into the main hallway

He overhears a convosation

"...afraid I cannot help if it is Egyptian - for the record though, I'm not half bad with Latin or Sanskrit though, and I've spent a lot of my life researching the occult, so if it was really a cult symbol I may be able to help..."

"I might be able to help mates.. I've done a bitta Egyptian in me time.."

Other Language - Egypt = 61%
My roll = 67

Blast

"Mmm.. Sorry mate.. I cant seem to pick any of it up.."

I agree.. Its getting a tad hard to manage with the spoiler tags. If you lable who is alowed to read it then perhaps that will help. Anyhoo im off to sleep.

Max left the exhibit and came into the main hall just in time to hear Travis' announcement. The words didn't register for a moment or two, and then the shock hit him. He fell onto a nearby bench with a solid thump and sat there, head in his hands, while the others discussed what had happened.

The professor...dead? Max couldn't believe it. The old guy had introduced Max to the wonders of history, and even helped him get his first article published. They hadn't even had a chance to talk yet.

Max heard Travis talking, and lifted his head. Maybe the professor was still alive. He'd have to cling to that hope.

"Damn I slept in" Charles says out loud as he halls himself out of bed and gets dressed. After running down the stairs and quickly asking the receptionist where everyone had gone Charles crosses the street to the Museum. He enters the Museum to find some of the Professors friends standing around with worried looks on there faces. He asks what is happening and is shocked as a man named Travis fills him in.

"This can't be happening. Has anyone attempted to contact the police? And has the entire building been searched? Whoever did this could still be in the building.

I know accents are fun but in the same way you don't have a 'shrimp on the barbie' every day, we don't say mate in every sentence, and we didn't in the 1920's either. It's funny and it is pretty good but tone it down a bit, try to only have one sodding, bloody, or mate per post, we're eccentric but we aren't obsessive :D Oh, actually, you can have twat as much as you like, twat is used very commonly...twat.

Try not to keep asking Travis questions, Zemalac's post is a perfect example of what you should be doing in this time - character opinion and development, but if we keep asking Travis the same questions it will just end up as spam. If you have a unique question (i.e. one I or Raikone hasn't asked yet) then go for it, but let's not have spam

OOC:Damn you, I've only just got back.

The doors burst open and Laetitia stumbled in, hastily trying to get her hair to stay straight.

"Hola, I am sorry for un pedacito tarde."

But then she stopped, something was wrong. Something she perhaps should have looked into last night.

Something bad, she knew it.

"What has happened?"

Im basing my accent on soundclips i've heard from WWI. I heard a lot of mates in there... And for the record I, and people I know and work with, say mate more than once =P

But if its getting in the way I shall tone down.

Selena had eaten airline food and paid the price. Feeling fatigued and feverish, she had apologized to the group and gone immediately to the embassy to rest. She was a doctor, and she knew what she ought to do. Surely Dr. Spencer could wait until the morning.

As dawn crawled through the blinds of her room, casting stripes on her tangled sheets, Selena groaned and took a sip of the water on her bedside table. She put a bookmark into the tome on her chest and flung her legs off the bed and onto the warm wooden floor. Flexing her toes and stretching her neck she took another sip of water and was happy to discover she felt much better.

Dressed and all made up, Selena walked over to the museum to catch up on the plan. Entering the eery space, she suddenly got goose bumps, but chose to ignore them and put on a smile. "Hello everyone!" she said cheerfully. Nobody paid her much attention, as they were already deep in discussion. Selena could scarcely believe what she was hearing, and drooped herself into a chair. "I just- I can't- Oh, Hubert..." she sighed, and she closed her eyes for a moment in prayer. She took another breath and stood up, making her way into the clump of people. "So what are we going to do next? Should we tell the police?"

This is what happens when there's this many people. Oi vey!

Martin came out of his room and walked towards where everyone was and he heard many a conversation going but paid it little mind until he heard that one phrase he stopped dead in his tracks. "How?" He said quietly as he sat onto a chair his eyes wide with shock. He looked at the ceiling and prayed for the professors soul.

Jesus Christ, I was gone for one day and could not get near a computer and this happens well at least this is popular.

Already going out of sync with the previous posts, so Toe or Daemon will have to answer in order I guess

Jacob turned to the newcomers and attempted to explain;

"So far; two bodies, seemingly unimportant discoveries, and I'd like to remind everyone that the crispy fried bodies may have been dead prior to their cremation, and there is no way of telling if one of them is Spencer - I'd like to also point out that we are across the street from a building occupied by armed forces, who it would seem saw nothing, as if they would the culprit would be riddled with bullet holes by now. Also, the building itself still remains, and I take it no one saw flames during the night? These bodies could have been killed and burned prior to being here, then dumped here. Hell, Travis mentioned a symbol - these could be two cult nuts who burned themselves alive in worship of some obscure demon deity; wouldn't be the first time it has happened. So Selena need not mourn over a friend who may not be dead, and as for calling the police?" Jacob paused for air before continuing,

"What do we tell them? 'Hello, I'd like to report two vicious murders at the Museum - yes, that's right, the one across from the Embassy with all those armed-guards, yes we are the only witnesses, and a few of us happened to break into Dr Spencer's office too if you're interested. Why yes we are armed with several guns, and half of us are most likely mad!' - no thank you, I'll stick with the option that does not involve me being sectioned; we find out ourselves, if we can, before we start getting the police involved. I probably don't need to point out that the bodies may have been left for us - we could be next. Forgive me for not sounding too sympathetic for the former and deceased, but I haven't seen the apparently horrific bodies, so I don't have to deal with the imagery, and the fact that we may be next for the funeral pyre is more pressing a concern at the moment. "
