I've never played a Call of Cthulhu game before, and I'm willing to try most things once, so I'm in. Bear in mind that I know very little about the Cthulhu rules. Just tell me what to roll and I've got the dice at hand.

If there's still room (although I really doubt it) I'd quite like to try this out. I know some of the basic background of Cthulhu, but I have never played the game...if its anything like DnD though I'll be fine, just tell me which dice and when and I'll be fine.

I'd like to sign up Rain, can I stat my own character? I'm quite well-versed in Cthulu etiquette.

Edition 5 rules : 20xEdu%,10xInt%, No Mythos to start?

BTW, I would recommend Byakhee [http://www.geocities.com/siliconvalley/haven/4173/byakhee.html] for your character sheets. Nice Windows type interface.
Which and how many of these links am I meant to get? There's everything from rulebooks to that modern-day version they did, and I still want to get this just to see what the actual game is like.

All you really need is Byakhee 3.1. I'm assuming Purp will let us know if anything's changed. 308K for all you need to know. :)

Hopefully not too late I would like to add that I too am interested in this RP. What could be a better setting than the Lovecraftian world and all it's mythos? Though I've never played the Cthulhu version, I've gotta pretty good grasp of D20 mechanics. Looking forward to reading this regardless of whether I get in or not.

Aww, I was gonna (looks slightly to the left).

I'm going to leave this for perhaps one more day before we get started on the character creation.

So far we have:
Teafo
7dollarbill
The_Toe_Bighter98
Fire Daemon
Blayze
Necromancist
The_root_of_all_evil
ThePoodonkis
Tsurugi
Larenxis
Zemalac
Qayin
bluedoom
Shadefyre
Reasonable Doubt
and Raikone

The less you actually know of the Cthulhu Mythos and monsters the better it is. So if you want most of the mystery, perhaps you shouldn't swash up on your Cthulhu monsters. I will try and give you all basic rules before you start your characters and I will give you all the sheets I'd like you to use so, Qayin, you don't have to freak out over the many different sets of rules.

Root, I'll get my hands on the 6th ed of the rules. If I can't steal it off a friend we may be stuck with pitiful 4. I should be able to though.

Alright, well I've olny ever played DnD but a handful of times and it's been a few years. So if I turn out to be a burden on the game just whack my character.

CoC and DnD are quite seperate. While in DnD you take on trolls and nasties, CoC you would be lucky to survive some. Magic isn't cast like DnD "I want to cast Magic Missile, I succeed." It's more about culty stuff. You might have to sacrifice something, or chant a spell in a certain way or it may require ingrediants.

The rules are more simplistic however. You have skills such as swim, sport hidden, rifles, etc. And they all are out of 100. So you might have 55 points on Tracking for example. Now you roll 1D100 (a D10 and a D10 with those exta zeros on it) to see if you make it.

Ie: You see foot prints leading off into the woods. You try to find what kind of animal lead this. You roll for a Zoology cheak. You, being a vet, have 76 points. You roll a 8 and a 40=48. You pass. You lear that the tracks are from a wolf of some form. You decide to track the animal to see where it went. Having 55 in this skill, after a roll of 3 and 70 (73) you loose the footprints half way through the woods.

I hope that helped as a quick explination. As to what skills there are, they're on the Cha sheet that I will post up, hopefully, tomorrow.

This sounds like it could be really fun and I have always wanted to try CoC. I have the dice and have played DnD a few times before so would you mind if I join this late?

If it gets too hard for you Pie, I promise to bravely push you over, so that I may make my escape unnoticed while your torn to pieces by monsters unknown. =)

I don't have to outrun the slowest of you. I have to make sure I'm in the middle of the group as it flees, to maximise my chances of not being the first to die to whatever abomination decides to wipe the floor with us, regardless of the direction it comes from.

That is, unless it attacks from above or below (Or from *within* the group itself). Then we're pretty much screwed.

What if the enemy is the very ground we're running on?

I must devise a way of running on the heads of my allies!

Then it's attacking from below, in whatever way it chooses to. As long as the enemy's not the air we're breathing...

...I'd stop trying to give out potential ideas for ways in which we can die horribly, but where's the fun in that?

Edit: Then again, if the enemy is time (Whether in general or localised in a specific area), our bodies, minds and souls could be torn apart. Imagine having half your body pulled towards four minutes ago and the other half pulled towards next Thursday.
