A lot of stuff has happened since I was last one. It was just idle chatter and then BAM we went through every room while I wasn't here :(. Anyways i didn't read every post (don't have time) so tell me if this conflicts with anything and I will edit it.

Tsurugi is stunned by the news that his old Professor is dead. He had liked the old man and they both had the same interest in Egypt. He had looked forward to discussing artifacts and ancient Egyptians with him but now he wouldn't get the chance. With a sad look on his face he steps towards the others. "Someone said they needed a book deciphered. I am quite fluent in modern Egyptian, here hand it to me." He is handed the book and then scans the pages trying to understand what is inside.

Modern Egyptian: 75%
My Roll: 20
So what do I find in this book of knowledge?

Travis stared in Jacob with some annoyance. "I think that if you really need to see these bodies, then take a look. Be warned though, only one of the bodies was burnt, the other... the other body is hanging of the ground, impaled with a giant bronze sword.". He turned to Selena, explaining "We have to contact the police eventually, but not yet. I think we dont have to worry about being accused the murderers, as... the bodies were killed before we arrived.". Travis frowned, deep in thought. "... Maybe I can find out the time these people were killed? I'll go downstairs to check the bodies again, so if you need me you can find me there.". Travis then proceeded to walk to the basement.

Downstairs, the bodies remained. Holding his nose against the phantom smell, Travis approached the bodies and began to perform a chemistry test on them...

Chemistry: 70%

Roll: 20

What do I find?

EDIT: Along the way, one of the group approached him and requested for the book. "Sure, maybe you can make sense out of it Travis said and he handed him the book.

"Hmm. Looking for more clues, eh? Well, if there's any doors or anything else that you need - ah - 'unlocking', just give me a shout. I don't have most of my tools on me, but I can make do in a pinch."

"Hold on, something is not right here and nobody should go anywhere alone!" Charles shouts as he runs after Travis.

Arriving at the bodies Charles is disturbed by what he sees, the charred body, the impaled man and... a mangled cat. "What the hell happened here?" Charles asks as Travis begins to inspect one of the bodies. "Well no point in crying over this, everyone goes some time. I better get you off the wall." Charles says as he begins to pull the sword from the body.

I think i should do a sanity check. My roll 56, my sanity 60 whew just passed. Are we playing where even if we pass we still lose one?

"It's not that I don't believe your account of events" Jacob told Travis as he made his way for the basement, "It's just that I need to see for myself - I'll try not to come running out squealing"

SAN=69, roll on 1D100 is 31, so pass for now. I'm kinda counting on Root or Rain to call me out when I screw up a roll though. For details I'm using what Rain gave Zen.

The smell hit him as soon as he tried to enter, and he had to fight back the urge to turn tail and run, mentally pushing himself down into the basement. The two bodies were a fair bit worse then he imagined, but he once again contained himself and took a look around the room. After noticing something, Jacob shouted back up the stairs;

"You didn't tell me someone took something! There's an open box here, looks like someone took a crowbar to it!"

Staying away from the bodies for the time being, Jacob attempted to look for anything else in the room.

Skill is 50, I rolled a 72, so FAIL!...that's if there was anythign to see anyways

Charles entered the basement and went straight to the corpse, grasping the sword in his hands;

"What are you doing? Respect for the dead is all well and good but this is a crime scene! Don't disturb the bodies, it is bad enough people took things from their pockets - if Travis is indeed eventually going to inform the police we don't need to incriminate ourselves more than we may already have...in fact, forget it, but I don't want any part in wrenching swords out of bodies."

Jacob left the basement behind, walking up the stairs in the main hall, passing through the library and entering Spencer's office. He immediately spotted the symbol on the wall in crimson, and attempted to identify it.

Skill is 80, roll is 11 - depending on what the symbol is I guess that means I may be able to realise what it is...if it is needed I did an idea roll - rolled 59 with a skill of 75...so as long as this isn't some obscure, previously unknown symbol then I may get it

then the body in the basement is NOT confirmed as Spencer - a charred body, with a key to his office does not make it him - the cat could make it likely but it would not be hard to recplicate this - Doctor Spencer may have done this himself; Rain did like to make lots of BWAHAHAHAHAHA comments.

As for the box;

PurpleRain said:
A boz has been torn open and a crowbar left on the floor.
Z is right next to X on the keyboard - so I'm assuming Rain done a wee typo there - I don't know what a boz is and a box can be torn open with a crowbar, so I think my reasoning for that is fine.

If I'm coming off as a complete prick - GOOD, it isn't anything personal, I just thought it would be fun to play the cock for a while...yeah, that shows how little it relates to me - I'm afraid of offending people on the internet where we aren't even playing as ourselves...

Andy heard a racket downstairs. He walked to the main hall to find the grisly scene before him. He couldn't think of anything but to take pictures. When the smell of the charred corpse finally got to him, he left the room to try and find the others.
Not to offend but 2 things, the gruesome sight requires a SAN roll and the door was locked by Toe and Fire at the time. So let's just make out that didn't happen.

It's an old book describing many Egyptian philosopheis, gods, ancient cults and generally relgious beliefs. You gain 2%to your knowledge and 10% to your occult

This body wasn't lit up by any petrol, gases or flamable chemicals. Also the burn marks on the clthing (what's left) look to have been scortched from the inside.

You recognise the shape of the outlying symbol. It is an eye pattern, very common amoung many cults. Some that claim to worship gods other then the Christian or most common religious beliefs. The symbol in the middle is a shape you have never seen before.

With SAN witnessing different things can leave you coping more for larger things even if you pass. You this sight, no. You're shaken but not stirred. - I hate me a little more now.

Well Byakhee won't let me change my Know so I am just going to have to remember that I have 2 more in it.

"Wow this book is really interesting, all of this stuff on Egyptian culture. I have never seen anything like it." Tsurugi mutters to himself. Turning back to the others he explains what the book contains, "Where did you find this? Was it one of the artifacts in a display?." Thinking the book might be useful later he stuffs it in his pack.

After having listened to the other's recollection of the basement scene, Raphael was feeling rather unnerved by the strangeness of the whole thing. Why would somebody kill the cat as well, for instance? Although, from what he knew of ancient Egyptian culture cats were a sort of sacred symbol, and combined with the semi-unidentifiable symbol on the wall this was more than likely the work of some obscure Egyptian cult or some such. The matchbox was an interesting find as well. Slipping one of the .34's into his back pocket, he turns to group and asks, "Who wants to go and check out the place where these matches are from? And somebody should probably stay here as well to make sure nobody messes with the scene. So who's going to do what?"

"Fine I'll just leave him on the wall then" Charles replies angerly to Jacob. "So Travis have you learned anything from the other body?"

Sorry again for taking so long to get Sam moving, but I don't currently have a reliable internet connection and have to go to the nearby college campus to uh... borrow their's

Samuel awakes late in the morning, last night after meeting the professor, he decided to take a look at the stars and compare them to his texts. Unsure if the skies over Egypt were similar to the ones back home, he had thought ahead and brought one good text on the stars all around the world.

As he awoke, he was excited to talk to Dr. Spencer, wanting to compare notes with him, maybe start working out some starcharts over the dig site. If it really was as occult as he alleged, and was this large of a find, any number of things could have stirred in the heavens.

Unfortunately, his excitement quickly turned to despair as he heard the explanations from the others on the main floor of the museum. "We all know that something is truly wrong here. So many things could be the cause of this, but we can't really say anything for certain yet. You said you got the keys to the front door here? Well, my vote is, we lock this whole place down, get to the dig site, and see if we can't find the Doctor there. If he's still alive, like I know I'm hoping, and most of you as well, then he should be able to shed some light on our predicament."

With that, Samuel started pacing the main floor of the museum and looking carefully over each of the exhibits again. I wish I would have made notes on these items, maybe I'd be able to tell if anything had changed from last night

Just to be safe, I'm gonna go ahead and make an astronomy roll to see if the text matches the stars from the night we stayed in the embassy as well as a spot hidden roll for the displays in the museum.

Astronomy = 80
Roll = 87
If anything has changed, I don't see it, maybe with a telescope...

Spot hidden = 75
Roll = 50
Yay success, let me know what I find =)

Ok guys, I'm out again, I'll try to be on again tomorrow evening, if I can't be, I will the next day. Just have me tag along for now if I'm not back to respond.

Sorry. I'm new to this dice thing and the story is moving too fast for my schedule. I think it would be best to make like Andy Dufragne never existed (or is next to be killed).

It's ok. There's always a learning curve. You're fine at the moment, just sometimes you have to state what you want to do. CoC is different in that way to others.

Jack took a long look at the diagram before leaving the office. He went down the stairs into the Main Hall and could see people busily talking to themselves and some people investigating the basement in the distance.

OOC:I rolled a sneak roll of 39 and would like to sneak past these people, go outside and visit Saheed's house. Is that OK?

Sure.

Saheed's house is quite a wealth two story building with an iron fence surrounding it. There is a garden leading to the front door.

Do you need a map of the house or are you just wanting to talk to Saheed.

Jack leaves the taxi and walks up to the large house, amazed that such a wealthy house can exist in the middle of poverty stricked Cairo. He walks through the garden and up to the door. He knocks...

OOC: I would like to investigate the house if he is away, if he is home than I will just talk to him in the living room and find out what he knows.

Travis finished his investigation and stood, his hand cupping his chin in a thinking grip. "This... this is very odd. It seems as if this burnt body never had a drop of flammable substance touch it, which suggests that a fire consumed the victim wholly without any sort of fuel. Except of course for the mans clothing...". Frowing in bewilderment, Travis steps past Charles, who now seems to be in a state of disbelief at the revelation.

Approaching the wall, Travis examines the scorched marks with care. He said in great surprise "Why, even these hold some bewildering secret! These scorch marks were cause by a flame coming out of the wall, which I have never heard to happen...". 'Maybe,' he thought, 'just maybe, the scene of the crime holds more answers than anticipated...'.

Travis turns to finally answer Jacob, who was still waiting for a reply. "I'm sory, but seeing this scene of... ghastly murder, I must have completely forgot. We hadnt checked the box, to my knowing, as finding those keys seemed like a big enough find on its own.". Travis scanned the scene with a suspicious twinkle in his eyes. Stepping through the wide berth of the room, Travis searched for anything hidden...

Spot Hidden: 25%

Roll: 63, darn

'Well, seems that led to nothing. Who am I trying to be here, a student or some sort of investigator?' Travis thought in some annoyance. "I'll be upstairs" he said suddenly, and he left the basement. Walking, Travis soon found himself in Prof. Spencers office again. Some guns and ammo were already gone, presumably taken by the others. But what remained was the money and map for the trip to Memnon, which Travis pocketed.

Travis was deep into this mess, and he wanted to find out just what happened during the night at the museum...

"So we're going to deal with this all ourselves then," Selena said. "I'm not sure that's right. We should at least talk to Saheed. Maybe Hubert is okay, maybe he's not, but his financier will want to know." She peered around experimentally. "Maybe I should have a look around first..."

Purps: I'd like to go into his office and look around, also looking around on my way there. Rolled a 16 to Spot Hidden. I know Ancient Egyptian as well as a lot of their history.

The front door opens and you are greeted by Saheed.
"Well, hello... Jack is it? We didn't speak for too long yesterday. Come in, make yourself comfortable."
The manor looks quite wealthy with a few paintings and artwork.

Already picked dry. Aside a stash of guns (2 12-gauge shotguns (Two shots per round. Dam=4D6 at 10 yards. 2D6 at 20 yards and 1D6 at 10.) 4 .32 revolver's (3 shots at 1D8 for 15 yards) and one .30-06 bolt action rifle (1/2 shots per round, 2D6+3 firing up to 100 yards).
Travis now standing in there gazing at a large cult symbol on the wall

there is nothing much to check.

Although Travis and Jack took a few guns I think.
