I think it should contain side missions including Soviet-Afghan War and the Falklands War where you play as a Gurkha or something, that would be cool. As long as their is a big black bloke, a Rambo-type character, a nerd, an ex-POW, a future parapeligic and a lunatic then I'm fine with the story. The killstreaks should be stuff like Vulcan Cannon'd Chopper Gunner, Dogs, Napalm Strike, Heavy Artillery, Agent Orange etc. The maps should be things like Napalm'd Field, Village, Swamp, River, POW Camp, City, Phnom pehn etc. That would be my dream Vietnam game anyway and I hope COD 7 is like that. F*** you if you don;t like it!

Sound like it could be pretty cool. Throw a little Jimi Hendrix in there and i think we might have a good game on our hands.

Hopefully it wont turn out too much like WaW, though...

I like the idea, never played a Vietnam FPS... But the problem is this: 7... Call of duty... 7. If you ask me Four should have been the end of the series, most people I've talked to about CoD 5 said the main selling point was the Nazi Zombies mod. A MOD. So that put me off, and 6 well I bought it and didn't like it, my personal opinions here. Should have stopped at 4. Though, sounds fun.

Final note: That's my honest opinion. Did I mention that?

They'd never do it. Nor do I think they should, particularly. There's more than little distinction between that and the airport level in MW2.

OT: Don't care anymore anyway. If IW having told my kind to fuck off, then Treyarch certainly will as well (assuming they played a role in the stupid decisions made, as well as Activision).

It'd certainly be interesting to see an American company recreate a war that they lost though. I know there's been a 'Nam game before but I think it was pretty shit, and subsequently ignored.
There were a bunch of them, actually :p
Really? Fair play ;)

Any of them generate much controversy?

Oh, come on, they aren't bad video game developers.
Actually, they are pretty bad. The only marginally good game they made was Ultimate Spider-Man.

Their work on the Call of Duty series was an absolute mess and I really don't understand what was going through Activisions mind putting Treyarch in charge of 2 games in the franchise.

Call of Duty 3 was shit and World at War was just a rehash of levels from Modern Warfare 1. The multiplayer wasn't better either with overpowered guns and a pretty unbalanced multiplayer. The only "redeeming" factor of World at Wars multiplayer is the Nazi Zombie thingy but hell, if you enjoy killing zombies that much you might as well just get Left 4 Dead.
Well CoD4 was just a rehash of levels from Call of Duty 1 & 2.
I don't remember Call of Duty 4 having any similarities to Call of Duty 2 but I could be wrong; my memory of playing Call of Duty 2 is hazy.

It could be pretty good. It's a newish idea and at least they aren't doing the Medal Of Honour thing by only replaying WWII. Shooting virtual Nazis has lost its appeal for me, although i did enjoy World At War.

BF: Vietnam. Already done, nothing to see here, move along.

Buut, CoD should be able to handle it with better graphics and an actual story mode. Bring on the Agent Orange!

OT: Az long as Vietnamese Zombies are there, I'm in.
But people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between zombies and real Vietnamese people!

OT: I suppose there's not many wars that are left to do...

Woot! If this is true, my checklist is coming to completion. Still left on it: World war 1, Winter war, the two Afghanistan conflicts, Chechnya and a World war 2 shooter where you HAVE a nazi campaign. Of course, i demand full playability for all atrocities and disastrous failures.

Nah, they've all been pretty terrible up till now... one that does stand out in my mind was called "Shellshock", I believe.

The 1st game was awful, and shortly after the Nazi Zombie thing was announced... well, probly best to go look it up for yourself...

It's been rumoured to be Vietnam since CoD: WaW. Hell every CoD is rumoured to be 'Nam.

I wonder if you can play as a VC. It would be interesting to play as both sides.

LZ X-Ray [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LZ_X-ray] should deffinatley be a level.
It's the only way they could one up IW. Perhaps a civvie who dunks some grenades into a parked copter, or maybe your family is killed in the Mai Lai massacre, and you're one of the only survivors, fairly pissed off and thirsty for blood.

Hell they could start it off like No Russian, then pull that out of their ass halfway through. Then you have a Fahrenheit scenario where you're controlling two characters, one is the hunter and the other is the hunted. Think it could work?

Thats rather cruel you know? (Not as in "The Airport scene might be a little offending" but as in rectal-chainsaw-insertion cruel)

Besides, for the love of god, no old war stuff (dont we have 4 out of 6 cod's for that?), make a decent Cod4 sequel, so we can forget about waht was supposed to be Mw2's storyline.

It would be a very interesting setting but i find it hard to see it work out completely well.

While the fall of Sigon (spelling?) would probably be a generaly easy level to make the jungle levels would be hard to make fair.

For example.

Walking down dark path, find a fork in the road, go left. *Slip*, you hit a booby trap and your foot falls in the ground, then a piece of sharpened bamboo gets shoved in your chest (thats a real scenario btw).

*respawn*

*go right*

*ambush*

*dead*

You see what i mean, it would be har dto make without you being some god of some sort.

AT the moment it is being rumored that Call Of Duty 7 will be in Vietnam, or any wars within that time period (60's - 80's).

REMEMBER this is not FACT its rumored because Treyarch (unfortunately) is licensing Music from the Vietnam wars time frame.

I think Vietnam would be a VERY interesting setting... I'm skeptical about buying the game if it is made though, just because Treyarch is creating it.

What are your thoughts on it?

They have already confirmed it's set in the "Cold War Era" which could be Bay of Pigs, Korea, Nam, or even the Cuban Missle Crisis.
