Well depends on players but ?.50-?.70 per slot per month is the usually. I was bring up as to point out that Activision has gone so greedy they won't want to spend that money on you. So not sure on exchange rate but yes that would probably get you a decent sized CoD server but not really for a game like Battlefield.Antari said:Ya about $6/month from an honest business... thats why it was a BIG might. But I'll still be sticking with my origional plan. I have about 30 games right now where I can jump into nearly any situation and shoot at someone or have them shooting at me. There's nothing this game has to offer me really.Glademaster said:Do you know how expensive a decent sized dedicated server is per month?Antari said:No I wouldn't pay for it, mainly because its based on subscription. If it automatically included my own dedicated server with the service, I MIGHT consider it. But at this point the fact that they are doing it will cause me to look at competing games when its released.
OT: They haven't really added anything new or innovative with this at all as far as I can see. Just a glorified social network. If they want to add dedicated servers or something similar they should run a couple of their own at launch and let other people start/rent their own.
The only thing this is really benefiting social side wise is console gamers for easier management of clans as we already have xfire and steam on PC why would we need this too?
No you have just completely missed the point as I am not saying people won't get the subscription. Most people who continue to play CoD as is probably will. I was saying that Activision will not stick their hand down into their deep pockets to buy each subscriber a dedicated server or if they it is probably going to be a cold day in hell.Arontala said:Do you know how much money Activision makes off of CoD? There are a lot of people who will pay a monthly fee, and there are even more pople who will just buy the game. Money is not an issue.Glademaster said:Do you know how expensive a decent sized dedicated server is per month?Antari said:No I wouldn't pay for it, mainly because its based on subscription. OT: No. I might have considered it if they were adding new things in, but it's just old things that they've taken away.
A persistent world (PW) is a virtual world that continues to exist even after a user exits the world and that user-made changes to its state are, to some extent, permanent.[1][2] The term is frequently used in the definition of the massively multiplayer online video games and can be considered synonymous with that class of games,[3] including other narrative forms of a media franchise. If that is how you choose to see what a persistent world is in your own personaly view/definition that is fine but what I have taken is what most people consider to be a persistent world. Guild Wars isn't even considered a MMO by some because they don't have a 100% persistent non instanced world. That's for another day however.Keava said:I meant the whole idea of levels, prestige and perks that are present in CoD. Persistent world doesn't mean seamless open world, but some degree of continuity of player character between the games.Glademaster said:No it doesn't. All FPS games are instanced and on separate servers or hosts. As far as I know there is no persistent FPS game in existence. Maybe a MMOFPS but no FPS.
