Seems like the extra subscription will be used to

a) Track your statistics (lol... if anything that will encourage me NOT to get it so I won't keep getting K:D OCD)

b) Choose who you play with - could this mean dedicated servers?

c) Get strategy guides and 'exclusive' videos.

Seems like they want to make their own version of the Youtube COD video scene .... which could be doomed to fail as the Youtube COD community already has its established personalities and attitudes towards IW and Activision.

What do you guys think? Something you'd pay for? Me I'm thinking.... no, probably not.

EDIT: Having watched the video, I'm absolutely I won't be paying for this bullshit. Fuck you, Kotick, you make enough money from us and other devs give us this stuff for free.

Tip 1 - Shoot gun

Tip 2 - Keep shooting

Tip 3 - Noob tube them to death.

I just saved someone 8 bucks!

Providing this isn't like Battlefield Heroes it might be alright.

1) already can do that for free on black ops.

2) Why would I want to choose who I play with, there going to be randoms anyway. If I want to play with friends I will invite them.

3) Who uses strat guides any more?

I can watch the same video's of "teh epic qs/no scoping" bollocks on youtube.

I haven't seen a good montage in about 1.5 years.

a) I don't give a hoot in hell about game stats. I'm not exactly getting anything tangible for my performance (like money), so it doesn't matter to me.

b) I already have Steam for playing with friends online, so that doesn't matter either.

c) "Exclusive" videos? You know someone's going to post them on Youtube within a few hours, so what's the point? Also, strategy guides? I thought that's what GameFAQs was for.

To top it all off, the last CoD game I bought was the first Modern Warfare. So no, it doesn't seem enticing to me at all.

No I wouldn't pay for it, mainly because its based on subscription. If it automatically included my own dedicated server with the service, I MIGHT consider it. But at this point the fact that they are doing it will cause me to look at competing games when its released.

This was enough for me to dismiss this as stupid. Strategy for call of duty? Okay:

Tape your finger to the Right Trigger and point it at people with red names.

Not a chance in hell I will. I like myself some CoD, but really, that's just plain greedy. I hope it doesn't mean that dedicated servers are just for the Elite members. That'd be a dick move.

No way in hell I would pay for that.

It's just another attempt to milk more money (as if it were necessary considering BO sales) of the franchise.

They are a company, they're here to make money, but this sound's like greed to me.

No, i dont play nearly enough CoD to bother with a subscription.

Also, isn't Bungie already doing this for free on their halo games?

Ha ha ha.
No.
I bailed out this franchise at Black Ops. Little incentive to come back to it.

Thinking on, may I file a suggestion to Miracle of Sound to relentlessly take the ever loving piss out of this awful idea in one of your songs?

Because a subscription based multiplayer FPS has worked so well in the past...

Remind me, what is the subscription actually for?

Probably so that you can be first in line to buy the DLC. [/cynicism]

You'd better hope people don't pay for this... it's a slippery slope and it brings activision one step closer of having call of duty subscription fees.

Sure I like CoD but why should I pay for something I can already play for free.

1) I feel that statistics and K/D ratios are actually what ruins a lot of online games so I couldn't care less about that.

2) Choose who I play with? I can already do that. It's called inviting a friend.

3) A strategy guide? For Call of Duty? I fail to understand what's so difficult about point, aim, shoot. If you need a strategy guide to tell you how to look at someone and press the fire button then you shouldn't be playing in the first place.

I refuse to pay for extra maps for black-ops, what makes them think I'll pay for useless crap?

I don't know how any of that justifies a subscription. I'd probably still ignore it even if it was free.

Remember when Kotick said he would like to see subscription fees for online CoD? Yeah...guess it wasn't a CoD MMO he was referring to.

The stat tracking features that are already in the CoD games for free, I'm not cool with them suddenly deciding to charge for.

However, the ability to manage clans and I am assuming group with other clan mates via Elite to play the game might be pretty cool, and if they have tournaments and stuff that would be nice, although I'm not sure I would be willing to pay for it.

As for maps, it really depends on how frequently they come out with new maps and the quality. Not only are the current map packs expensive, but the maps are also pretty bad. Half the time, I get more frustrated with the map packs because the crappy maps dilute my chances of getting the good maps even more.

If the service worked out to like 5 bucks a month, with a map every month, and it had some of the other features, like incorporating the clan system into the game itself, then I might consider it. Hell, lets be honest, 5 bucks a month is negligible.

Other than that tho, I probably would never get it except for that above possibility.
