The Youth Counselor said:
This idea is a shameless cash grab of a real death. It will surely incite controversy.
However unlike Six Days in Fallujah, there are some things which will make it more palatable to the audience and concerned mothers.
In this mission, no Americans were killed or injured. And the only reported non-combatant death was a woman that an Al-Qaeda operative used as a human shield.
The Battle of Fallujah on the other hand was the bloodiest battle of the Iraq War for both Americans and civilians.
Our reasons for going into Iraq is morally questionable and the results even worse. The opposition was not too hated. Bin Laden on the other hand is a figure who has caused death and pain throughout the world and is condemned and hated across the globe. Our reasons for attacking Bin Laden is justified.
This is why I was, and still am, in support of
Six Days in Fallujah. People need to see the war from the soldier's side. Two quotes from
Black Hawk Down express my sentiments perfectly.
"Y'know what I think? Don't really matter what I think. Once that first bullet goes past your head, politics and all that shit just goes right out the window."- Hoot
"When I go home, people ask me, "Hey Hoot, why do you do it, man? Why? You some kind of war junkie?" I won't say a goddamn word. Why? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it. They won't understand it's about the men next to you... and that's it. That's all it is."-Hoot
OT- I've been imagining Bin Laden's face on every OPFOR I have killed in a game since 2001. A game with his actual face in it will not make much of a difference to me.
