IW takes their CoD games very seriously. Look at the campaigns. They are very intense, very serious. I think tossing in flying ships and laser rifles would be a terrible idea. The whole way that Iw carries out a CoD game would be a joke if they gave marines chrome body armor and a laser rifle. The game would just come across as a joke. At least to me it would.

why not try WWI
Because Trench Warfare doesn't make for a good game.
if done right it could be amazing, the trick is actually doing it right.
Please explain how it could be amazing.
see, that's the tricky part. i don't know the first thing about making video games, they need somebody innovative enough to figure out how to make it amazing, because it hasn't really been done before. i'm not the right person to ask about, i simply think they should at least try. IW could pry do it if they set their minds to it.

Lol, they should get Treyarch to stop making COD games by convincing them that a cold war game would be good.

Then you only get the quality games from infinity ward
Treyarch make Quality Titles, stop being a baby.
I only started playing COD games at COD 4 so maybe 1 and 3 were good titles, but I didn't experience them for myself. COD: WAW was a big flop in my opinion in comparison to the hype it was given!

No, absoulutely not, all of my friends say they like the WW2 better than Modern Warfare, so that means it sells more. And the whole thing would ruin CoD. Its not Star Wars or Mass Effect.
Really?! The mere success of MW and MW2 over World at War shows that there is not a need for World War 2. I mean do you look at sales? World War 2 has been so over used its just irritating. I hope they continue with MW2 and stay in "the present".

I read about the idea of having COD6 set in the future before World at War came out. I remember discussing it with the guys who work in Game.

TBH I would prefer if they stuck with the Modern Warfare scene instead of going into the future.

My friend speculated the sequel should simply be: Soap and Prices Most Excellent Adventure, where they tour the new angry world knifing and shooting up hordes of protesters and terrorists.

Before they make Future Warfare, I expect Modern Warfare 3: Solid Soap!

I think a COD game set in the future would be really cool. I know IW can pull it off, as long as it's not in the distant future. Just so much in the future that everyone uses a new generation of guns.

I think a WWI game could work. It would just be a very different game than the usual pacing of call of duty games. Good opportunities for some dramatic scenes as well as WWI was still very much about massed manpower. Going over the top at night with explosions everywhere could be cool. Gas attaccks would be interesting too

Also as someone pointed out

Not all WW1 was trench warfare ya know
It would be very much a rifle oriented game, so running and gunning would be fairly difficult. They were just starting to experiement with smg's at the time though, so they might make an appearance.

I wouldnt mind seeing an 1800's cod with cannons and musket lines. But that would be an even slower game than WWI :p
