I don't know if I count because I don't hate Steam. I just won't use it.
I guess my peeves would be:
It's a draconian form of DRM. Even if you buy the disc, you have to install Steam.
If it ends, so does my access to the games that I bought. Yes, I know Gabe Newell said that, if Steam ever goes under, that they will release a patch that will free the games that you purchased. To date, this claim has not been proven. Being former IT, I can guarantee that people will be too busy looking for jobs to bother writing that patch.
It forces updates. The game that I bought a physical copy of was Sin: Episodes. I liked it well enough but a number of people who couldn't grasp "don't run straight at the people with miniguns" bawwed about how difficult that section was. Steam released a patch to remove the teeth out of that encounter. Sometimes I don't like later updates to a game and I would prefer to patch to a level that does not create issues. GalCiv1 and UT2K4 come to mind. (Yes, not patching to the highest level creates the tradeoff of not being able to play online. I'm willing to make that tradeoff for certain games.)
That would about cover the major issues. To date, I have only bought two games which require Steam: Sin Episodes and Portal. Other than that, I've avoided it like the plague. Sometimes, that's a problem such as Supreme Commander 2 but I'm willing to make that sacrifice to avoid Steam.
So it isn't so much a "hate" so much as I just won't use it.
