Hang on...

...so Digimon actually had personalities?
I think they had about 6 basic personalities that they plastered onto all of the characters with minor variations. At least that's how I remember the show. Though to be fair I don't remember much about it, other than that some of the Digimon looked really stupid. Like that giant bio-mechanical whale thing.
I don't mean to offend you when I say this, but I think you might have a stick too far up where the sun don't shine. I really don't find any of the reasons you mentioned for being annoyed by the OP's quirks to be legitimate in any way, but then that's just my opinion. In the end, Calumon doesn't lessen Jack's opinion (even though you seem to think so), all it does is add something different to it. Like Jack said, he likes to role play. He's not schizophrenic, and honestly anyone who thinks so should stop being ignorant or making assumptions, and re-read the post...and if it really still bothers you, there's a nifty little feature called "ignore" on the individual's profile, which if you choose to use it, will make it so that you never have to see any person's posts again.

Honestly, there's no rules against it, and if you really have to go that in depth as to why you dislike it then you really chose the wrong medium of socializing.

EDIT: forgot to go on-topic. Jack, I say you and Calumon keep it going strong, I've always found your posts to be quite refreshing on some threads :D

This thread called for my opinion about the whole thing. So I expressed my opinion about it. Don't tell me I have a stick up my ass just because I shared my opinion about the topic at hand. It's not like it annoys me so much that I was demanding he stop before he started making entire threads dedicated to this gimmick. I also never claimed he was schizophrenic (at least, I never remember doing so). Like I've already said, the reason the OP annoys me is because he keeps saying this is anything more than a stupid little gimmick and keeps dedicating entire threads to it. When he's not doing that, I'm not going to say a thing about it. It stills annoys me, but like you said it's not against the rules so I'm not going to bring it up unless it;s the subject of a thread.

And why did you revive this thread just to say that, and then quote me in a post that was about the Digimon TV show rather than the actual thread? Just curious.

I brought it up because I read it yesterday, I didn't realize how old it was (I came across it while trying to find a different thread ironically, and since I've seen the Jack and Calumon bit before I thought it would be interesting to learn the origins). And I quoted that comment because it was the only one on page 6, and I didn't want to sift through the posts to find the most relevant one. I knew you'd know what I meant anyway.

I'm not trying to belittle your opinion. You are right, the thread asked for it and you gave it. My question is, why, if you and others like you dislike the gimmick so much, do you not simply use the ignore feature, and make it so that you never see a post from the OP again? You say it only annoys you because the OP keeps dedicating threads to it; I for one, have only seen this one thread, and it took searching for another thread for me to even notice it. And in the beginning of the post, Jack clearly stated that he was posting this up for those who were curious and wanted an explanation. Obviously a lot of people asked him about it (for the people who said no one cares), and as a lot of other people admitted in this thread, were curious but never asked due to the possibility of a morbid reason behind it.

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is, why not save yourself the sorrow? And if you say it doesn't bother you that much, why let it bother you at all? I just don't see a logical reasoning behind why you let it annoy you. I'm not trying to convince you to like it either, but obviously this is bothering you enough that you had to mention it, is what I'm saying. The question is, why?

You can't just magically choose what annoys you. I can't help it if I'm the type of person who finds pointless role playing on forums that have nothing to do with it to be annoying. I can't just decide to let it not bother me, as you seem to suggest at the end of your post. I honestly have no idea what you're talking about when you said that.

As for why I don't user the ignore feature it's because it don't find this to be so annoying that I think that is necessary. Plus I don't want to use it on the off-chance that he actually says something of value. You seem to be exaggerating how much I dislike this. It's not like I think he is ruining the Escapist with his dumb little gimmick. Most of his posts have no substance so they are easily ignored anyways. It may bug me, but I'm only going to point it out unless the entire thread is dedicated to it.

But that's just my point, you say it doesn't bother you THAT much, but it does bother you (and others, I'm not picking on you or something) enough that you gave an in-depth explanation of how it bothered you. What I'm trying to get at is, why would it bother you that much? And again, I know opinions were asked for in this thread, but most other people just wrote whether or not they enjoyed the little additions, and added what their opinion of what Jack should do. You went out of your way to say you didn't like it, and more or less how much you didn't like it, almost as if you were politely asking Jack to stop. I'm just confused as to why something so small and meant to be silly could push your buttons just enough. I know we all have our pet peeves, but to me it just seemed like a pet peeve, and then some.

That's just my take on it though, I'm not trying to step on any toes or anything.

I didn't give an in depth explanation of why I dislike it because it annoyed me that much. I did that because that's how I prefer to respond to threads. I like to fully express my opinion in detail. It's just how I prefer writing. I didn't view myself writing long responses to this thread as wasting time because I usually give responses like that, or at least prefer to. It has nothing to do with how much it annoys me. You're making an assumption.
