I'm a camper, and yes it could be annoying but then again I don't play online that often and I only have played like 3 soohters online anyways, and quake 4 dosen't count because it was virtually impossible to camp there. But you know why I and all the other campers do that, because we suck at playing and camping is the only way to get some fun out of our online experience. And for all those pros out there if you really are that good then a few noob campers shouldn't be any problem to you.

i got called cheap for using a shotgun and solid slugs in bad company 2, pickig off enemies and countersniping.
basically this one guy saw he was killed with a shotgun, and assumed i was nearby where he died... so he circled around his body, his back to me, as i was still 50 yards back.
eventually sent me a message calling me a hacker/cheater.
i guess when he figures out it's an unlock...

It´s not noob campers that are the problem. It is the guys that make it a life sitting and camping, I think.
Noob camping is easier to evade than "pro" campers. (Is there anything like that?)

I'm fine with camping, and most tactics people call "cheap". One tactic that is actually cheap, though, is spawn camping (i.e. going to an enemy spawn and killing people as they respawn), because there is no feasible way to counter it. It takes a few seconds to get your bearings, and by then, the spawn camper has killed you.

people how hate camping would hate playing rush on bfbc:2
I don't find camping too bad there. Although, I have found my fair share of guys camping as a Medic and constantly throwing down Medkits.

Personally camping is my pet hate in games. I know it's legit and all that, but it's still annoying, especially if they're camping in a spot with high traffic.

The complaints about ganking aren't about whether it's a legit tactic or not, they're about how annoying it is to be questing and then get killed by a player several levels higher than you who then camps your corpse. The difference between this and "noob tubes" is that it isn't something you can counter or copy when they start doing it to you.

For MW2, (it always comes up doesnt it)there seems to be debate about having any kind of tactic atall. If you stop, you're camping - death to campers!

If you really are such a twirp that you grab yourself marathon, lightweight and commando and charge around the map knifing people, you are a marathon, lightweight and commando twirp and everyone hates you.

If you even think about attaching a heartbeat sensor to your gun in order to locate campers/lightweight twirps you are heartbeat noob.

Oh and i nearly forgot, if you dare use a grenade launcher to clean out a room of campers in say, Headquarters, well, how dare you kill us you noob tuber, you really must somehow creep up to the room, gradually pick off the room's inhabitants without anyone else noticing you, quickly, so they dont capture the objective.

Oh wait no, sub machine gun/ shotgun noober, quickly killing off a room with a rapid fire weapon.

Oh, by the way no thermal scope on your sniper rifle that's cheating too...

So, that leaves, a very gentlemenly game where everyone lines up with the FAL single shot assault rifle, and fires into the opposing team. No moving, no grenades, no flashbangs, no riot sheild obviously that seems to baffle people who refuse to use grenades only guns. For a game with so many varying tactics and possibilites its surprising everyone really wants a game from the American revolutionary war.

"HADOKEN! HADOKEN! HADOKEN! HADOKEN! HADOKEN! HADOKEN! HADOKEN! HADOKEN! HADO-" "RYU, WILL YOU CUT THAT OUT??"

I generally don't complain about the players much. Generally if a weapon is overpowered, it should be a developer signal to balance it. This is partially why I didn't bother buying MW2; the game has raked in so much money, they have little incentive to balance it with all the ridiculous killstreak perks, and even knife-based classes.

I don't call camping unfair. It's not unfair. I do however call the player a pussy, since that would be true.
And one of two things usually happens.
1. They keep camping and their team loses, but the player has a lot of kills
2. They attempt to prove me wrong, run out of their hide-y hole, and die a couple of times before going back...

I dont mind camping if there are means placed in a game to defend against it. Classic example. BF 2142. Sniper perched in a little space in a wall. Get killed by hit twice. Instead of whining about it I jump in a walker and hunt the ***** down

BF heroes. Sniper hiding on top of a building. Answer. Use a rocket launcher to blow him off the roof.

CoD Noob tubers. Use buildings as much as possible then use a shotgun once you get close enough. Or use their own tactic to deal with them.

There are always over powered weapons in games. Looking at you Killzone 2. Developers will not fix them most of the time so its up to people to find ways around it. Whining isnt going to do anything.

The only time I actually camp is in MW2. Then I only camp for about 30 sec, then I move on.

Camping can be really annoying, but there is always a way around it.

I don't mind Camping, but I hate n00b-tubing. If you play Halo, at SideWinder, alot of people pick up that plasma rod and enter your base through the teleporter and kills everyone.

It's ridiculous. I have yet to find a game with some weapon/strategy that can break it. Camping is quite often a valid strategy. There isn't many games where running and gunning with a sniper rifle is a good idea, and if it is the gun is usually quite broken (Halo, Unreal Tournament). "Noobtubing" is another stupid complaint. Just be careful. I don't have problems with people that use rockets/grenade launchers. I have no difficulties against people who knife in CoD, unless they come up from behind, in which case they could have just killed me anyway. However, it is amusing to hear everyone yelling at one guy, especially when it's me sniping them all off.

All's fair imo.

I was having fun yesterday in BF:BC2, as Assault class in the winter level. There was a bunch of enemies camping a house by a flag right in the middle so I sat in a nearby house, dropped an ammo box, then started launching a stream of grenades. It was great I got a bunch of kills to the point of finally blowing the whole house up and getting 3 Destruction 2.0 kills. Then the ennemies hit up the house next to it so I did the same thing and got another 2 Destruction kills although I also had a TK from that one.

Anyway I've played lots of MW2 and now I'm onto BF:BC2 and I don't really find anything cheap, although I hate when the enemy rushes your spawn point (base) and either camps there for a cheap kill or steals your tanks/helicopter. Don't get me wrong, it's fair enough but it sucks getting killed unexpectedly there, or finding out the other team has both helicopters.

I usually don't mess with games like MW2 due to the rather immature demographic that calls the MP servers home.

The last time I tried to play an MP game of MW2 (at a friend's house - I don't own the game or an X360), I got called a n00b, camper, pussy, etc., and it was all because I managed to unload some buckshot into a guys face - 2 times in a row in fairly rapid succession.

C'mon! A two kill streak is NOTHING, but I still got screamed at.

I agree totally with that one. Spawn camping is probably the only genuinely cheap thing out there. Every other tactic will have weaknesses that can be exploited to counter them.

I get annoyed at people who do complain over their death, but even more so when people confuse actual legit tactics with cheap behaviour. Too many times my little brother complained at the grenade launcher I liked to put on my AK-47 on Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, complaining that I'm using a "noob-tube" to make up for my lack of skill. Yeah, because I like running around corners and getting shot when full aware there's probably someone there.

However, I also get annoyed when people do use unfair tactics. Sure, FPS camping can usually be solved, but corpse camping and people who use the grenade launcher as their primary weapon are just scum.
