No. I agree 100%. That's exactly what I meant by a little silly. The fact that it's mandatory and, thus, a little shallow.jamail77 said:Sorry, people shouldn't dwell on it, but it most definitely is a good point for criticism then. That is exactly the shallow one button context sensitive thing I was talking about. You could easily make that into an automatic cutscene. You have to do it to proceed anyway, right? Why bother with the button prompt then? You yourself say it's silly. There is no depth to it, it isn't optional, and you HAVE to do it.Creator002 said:There's a funeral being held in honour of one of your squad mates (who committed suicide by explosion (his arm was stuck) to destroy an enemy vehicle). At the end of the scene (which is about 20 seconds), you need to hold X to turn and place your hand on the coffin (the prompt is "Hold X to Pay Respects"). You then turn and walk away. Some stuff happens then which isn't relevant.
It feels a little silly, but it's nothing to really dwell on.
Arkham City didn't need to make its thing automatic because it's not as shallow, it's optional, and it's easy to miss.
...
it's not worth dwellling on it, but I would argue it's a legit criticism. Just don't make it your main point of criticism and you're fine.
I saw TB's video and I thought... damn. I might actually buy my first CoD game. I won't buy it until they have dedicated servers though.Izanagi009 said:While I have no real stake in this, I will put this for people to refer to
for those who didn't watch the full video, it's pretty much a glowing review and I remind you that it comes from the guy who made this:
As for my own personal opinion, I played Titanfall and while this is focused more on dashes than parkor, I'm a bit tuckered out on exo-suit shooters (is this becoming a thing, it needs to be)
That said, it does look cool and I enjoyed Titanfall for the time I played it. As a sucker for sci-fi tech, this could be fun or it could blow up in my face.
Going by Jim's review, you're paying respect at a funeral "for a guy [you] don't care about, who sacrificed himself to save a guy [you] don't care about". It seems like something gratuitous to throw in just because. Whereas the whole Batman mythos is founded on the murder of his parents, and every game - and film - alludes to this one way or another. There is a purpose to the scene and everything from the music to the camerawork to Strange's voiceover to the exact placement of the scene in the overall narrative of the game adds up.Kingjackl said:I haven't played it, but I will say people are being unfair about the whole 'press X to pay respects' thing. Nobody was complaining when Arkham City did it, and it's still not as bad as 'press X to Jason'.
Yup. Double jump looks like it has more oomph than in Unreal Tournament, but otherwise the movement system feels like a step down from that. I'm not a UT fan either, so not even that feeling of "it's sorta like something I like" can sway mex EvilErmine x said:I think he's referring to Unreal Tournaments style of movement.Johnny Novgorod said:Don't they all look amazing on trailer anyway?

I didn't mind MW1, but I miss the respect shown to the conflicts depicted in the series. Where the original had moments of reflection, the current titles just seem to throw more Bay-esque setpieces in to fill the gaps between the shooting and explosions. Personal moments of tragedy have been replaced by shock value cutscenes. I kinda wish they'd go back to dealing with actual wars and events, and maybe garner some interest in history/current happeningsSonOfVoorhees said:For me the Cod games havnt been worth playing since their change from WW2 to MW. Whoops. Sorry. I thought I was responding to Kingjackl. I didn't realized you joined the conversation. That's why I responded the way I did, so sorry about that.Creator002 said:No. I agree 100%. I just don't think it should be dwelled on because, based on recent history, it's likey to become the talking point for the games industry for the next 6 months.
Yes, it's fine to be debated and criticised, and it should be when critiquing the game as a whole, like you said, but remember what series this game is a part of. Call of Duty is not known for it's depth and excellent story telling.[footnote]This last paragraph is not aimed at you specifically. It's in general to whomever reads this.[/footnote]
Then they should shut the fuck up and piss off. If you are not a fan of a game series then why would you be reading and posting in threads about said game series? While I did not like skyrim I do not go around posting in every skyrim thread that it is a complete piece of shit and people who like it should kill themselves. They only reason to do so would be to try and start a fight. For some idiotic reason its acceptable for CoD because hey CoD is popular and its fun to hate popular things.Vigormortis said:True, but not all detractors are contrarians. Some people just genuinely don't like the series., and whenever something is popular and trendy, people are going to hate on it, it's practically a law.
Ha ha. No worries. Looking back through the posts, I can see exactly how you missed that it was a different person.jamail77 said:Whoops. Sorry. I thought I was responding to Kingjackl. I didn't realized you joined the conversation. That's why I responded the way I did, so sorry about that.

Never mind that it's DLC, why the fuck have Sledgehammer done Zombies? Unless Activision really is that desperate for sales that they'll try gutting Treyarch's next game to sustain this one.Xannieros said:Considering I just read that you need to buy a DLC to play with zombies... Nope. This one looked somewhat new and interesting, but it looks like another cashgrab. When it seems like they cut content to make it DLC I won't give the game a chance.

Are you honestly asking why a developer added in a game mode that lots of people enjoy? One that a ton of people were complaining was not in every game?Evonisia said:Never mind that it's DLC, why the fuck have Sledgehammer done Zombies? If you were a member of the console master race you could just go out and rent the thing. The Goat Tsar said:I want to try it but I'm not sure if I'd like it. So I'd have to wait for it to go on sale. But with Call of Duty's release schedule, a lot of the time when it goes on sale, a new one will already be out leaving the multiplayer for the one I want mostly dead. That's always annoyed me about the Call of Duty franchise.
The only thing that annoys me more are the Internet hipsters who go around hating on every major release without looking at the individual merits of each title.
