Well, a sith could, but a Jedi with a yellow light saber would only make him stronger. A Jedi with a green light saber would, but only if its generated by the right type of crystal.

well it only says he's immune to bullets, so I guess it's worth a shot.
BOOO! BOOO!

OT: He would just punch the guy holding the light saber and the universe would be saved.

The guy has been shot with all kinds of lasers and didn't have a scratch on him, why the hell would he be hurt by a laser just because the beam's movement is arrested? Unless kryptonite works as a lightsaber crystal, they can't do jack against Superman.

The question depends entirely on which Superman we're talking about. As it would take far too long to detail the exact differences between each incarnation, I'm going to have to refer you to the "What if a nuke went off in Superman's ass?" chart on this one and let you work out the math for yourself.

The spirit is willing but the saber's too weak. Much as the best Star Wars fans put faith in the power of a light saber, it's still only an energy blade. If more massive amounts of energy have not zorched the guy, then the saber of energy powered by a crystal and your own chutzpah won't either.

Unless, of course, Lex forged you a decent Kryptonite filter which would allow for energy particles of the right sort. But if we're talking any case where some saber dude and Superman just sorta' met, no outside preparation? Toasty Jedi/Sith.

A lightsaber is a blade of 100% pure energy, able to cut through anything made up of matter. I think superman is made of delicious matter, no?

No. Superman is too OP to be killed by anything. Lightsabers don't cut through everything as is anyways.

Though I haven't read any superman stuff in a long time, as far as I was aware, as long as he could get light/radiation from a yellow sun, he was impervious to all harm except kryptonite. So if you smack him with a lightsaber in our solar system, no, it probably wouldn't hurt him any more than a cricket bat would.

I'm not a Superman fan, but I'll say no. The cutting power of the lightsaber is attributed to the heat generated by the blade. I don't think even that level of extreme heat is much of a concern to Superman.

Hmm... That's pretty deep. While I want to say that the light saber doesn't have enough kick to "kill" Superman, I can't imagine anything stopping a light saber either. I think it would hurt him the same way that a wooden sword would hurt a mortal.

If Superman Returns taught us anything, it's that you could kill Superman with a piece of kryptonite taped to a stick.
Yeah, Superman has the BIGGEST Achilles heel ever conceived.

You know what I want to see Superman taken down by?

No. Not on its own, at least.

You will need to involve the use of gold kryptonite alongside the use of the sabre. Gold kryptonite removes all powers from a Kryptonian, permanently. When his powers are gone, Superman would be vulnerable to weapons. Thus, you could easily cleave him in half with the sabre.

Of course, this depends on the strain of gold kryptonite, as it's been seen to cause cellular degeneration and accelerated aging in one instance, and when it was used by Metallo, it only removes the powers for around 15 seconds.

Well, a lightsaber can cut through pretty much anything, so yes.

Unless it's Silver Age Superman, in which case he resists with his super-invulnerability.
