Oh, and just because it pertains to this thread:

http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/superman-vs.jedi.jpg
this is basically what would happen 90 percent of the time.

also isnt the force basically a form of magic? meaning it could effect superman?
it was a form of "magic" until they gave a biological origin to it on the new trilogy =/

You can't even swing it fast enough to hit him.
If you could hit him, he would survive if only because he's a main character.

A lightsaber is basically a blade of pure energy cutting through things because it's very very hot. Superman is fireproof, so no. Unless the power crystal was made out of Kryptonite, of course.

If Superman Returns taught us anything, it's that you could kill Superman with a piece of kryptonite taped to a stick.
Yeah, Superman has the BIGGEST Achilles heel ever conceived.

You know what I want to see Superman taken down by?

Kryptonite spitballs
Off main topic I know. I read somewhere the krytonite was never part of the original 1940's Supeman mythos. It came about from the Superman radio show. The original radio voice over needed time to take vacations, so to give the audience a reason why his voice was different, they invented kryptonite to explain it as a plot convinience.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kryptonite Found this on wiki. It kind of confirms it.

I agree it is a Big A Heel. I would rather of had the original writer's put in set limits to his various powers rather than a collection of rocks. Reversing time by flying faster than the speed of light in the 1970's movie always bothered me. You need an infinate amount of energy to reach the speed of light. The yellow sun can't provide that.

But I'm being a tech weenie.

On Topic: If it was assumed that a lightsaber could cut SM's flesh. I think a force sensitive (jedi or sith) could do it because of the Force Preconition and Force speed verses SM's inate speed. I think it would even be a good battle.

Probably. Superman isn't invincible afterall, just amazingly hard to damage. Presumably since the sabre can cut through almost anything it could draw blood from the man of steel. A well known axiom states "if it bleeds, it can be killed" and it would seem to apply.

This is the same problem I have with Jedi versus a gun. No matter how good at precognition a Jedi is, a bullet usually travels faster than the speed of sound. The world's fastest human brain can't even recognize that they've been shot at before the bullet has already perforated their grey matter. And even if a Jedi was fast enough to get their lightsaber to block, the bullet would just melt and suddenly there is a piece of lava heading towards them at the speed of sound. Great improvement

That depends. Has DC made him impervious to it yet? If yes, then no. If no, expect it to be in the next comic, "Superman Meets Darth Vader."
Dude! He once flew into the sun, became Super Super Man, and pushed War World into a portal that lead to the big bang! If a lightsaber is as hot as the sun, and Superman has been to the sun, a lightsaber cant hurt him. Unless the crystals were krptonite, any body using a lightsaber against him is essentially screwed.
I think you might have missed my very subtle way of saying that Superman is impervious to everything. And how he gains resilience to everything over time.

Man I hate Superman, its because most people can't accept others could match him power wise. What I'd like to see is rather than anyone with a piece of kryptonite crippling him, him and someone of equal power punching the shit out of each other.

Oh.*clears throat* Forgive me for my trasgression then.
You are forgiven, but you must first deliver this package of gaseous kryptonite to a Mr. C. Kent first. Report back to me once the package is delivered.

Yes, Superman can be killed by a lightsaber because we all know that a lightsaber is magic anyway.

"Ha! You fool! My father lord Darksied will be pleased!" I yelled, taking off my human costume, revealing myself to be Kalaibak. Quickly, I activated a boom tube to Apocalypse, and entered it.
*runs his hand above his head while very loudly making a "SHOOM" sound*

"But I am afraid that you will not get that chance," the Masked Man replied, as he slowly pulled a laptop from his desk. Thin green veins ran across the surface of the laptop, pulsating slightly as the Masked Man opened it. "For you see, I have successfully hacked into the Universe, allowing me to bend reality to my will. Enjoy your time frolicking with the many pink unicorns of the Happy Funtime Valley of Rainbows in Sector 38K-SG."
