Provided he doesn't freeze you with his ice breath and disintegrate you with his lazer-eyes before you even get 100 yards close to him, I'd say you could.

no, the force is technically biological and not magic so it's impotent and a lightsaber would just bounce off his chest.
The Force really has nothing to do with just swinging the damn thing like a club. And once again, remove his powers with gold kryptonite, and you can cut through him like a hot knife through butter.

no you can't. Superman is vulnerable to krytonite and magic (that's why captain marvel can kick his ass)

Yes/no irrelavent...

Without the Force to speed yourself up with precognition against natural Superman's speed, you would never have an ability to make contact with him and an ignited blade. I never understood logistically why Superman would just stand there and let people fire guns at him. The ricochets alone carries enough kinetic energy to hurt a bystander. Yet alone the criminal firing on Superman. Before someone says that is ironic kharma for the criminal; in the Superman mythos, Superman goes out of his way to protect and save even his most greatest adveraries if he can.

I believe Sumerman would realise it is something different in your hands and endevor to relieve you of it with his speed rather than assume this different can't hurt him allowing an impact with it from the yielder.

If it was a Krypto crystal. Sure, maybe as a regular mortal with no Jedi powers. But it depends on if you surprise him or not at very close range. If you do an old west type stand off at twenty paces and ignite that blade, he may have enough fall off distance to speed a way before the Krypto fully weakens him after he starts to feel the effect. He recovers at distance while traking you with his supersight. Then heat beams the weapon out of your hand at distance. You run, he nabs you.

It really depends on if Force powers are present and how much element of suprise there is.
You put a terrifying amount of thought into this apparently. Do you want to whack Supes by any chance?
That being said, I agree with you, you herocidal maniac.

Yeah, Superman has the BIGGEST Achilles heel ever conceived.

You know what I want to see Superman taken down by?

Kryptonite spitballs
actually, the bigger achilles heel is from Green Lantern. You could beat Alan Scott (classic Green lantern) with a piece of wood

A: if it didnt kill him, it would still cut him up into pieces.
B: with a krypton crystal=gg, he gets near, he falls down all dizzy like, then u just chop him to itty bitty pieces.
but still would need surprise in order to take him down, otherwise he just throws a car at u and heat rays you to death.

Ok, big nerd time (For the record, I do not know this because I'm a big comic book fan. I found a compilation of superhero lore in the library my mom works at while helping her shelve books, and spent three days reading the whole thing). Superman's invulnerability is not due to the toughness of his skin, rather, his cells generate an energy field which expands just beyond his body. The field deflects any high energy object that comes into contact with it, whether it be a bullet, a fist, or plasma from the sun, a ray gun, or a light saber.

As a sidenote: The field is only slightly above his exposed body, meaning that it wouldn't protect any clothing that wasn't skin tight or any item that he is holding. Hence, Superman's tights.

Edit: In conclusion, Lightsaber can not be used to kill Superman, because it can not touch Superman.

2ed Edit: Kryptonite power crystal in the lightsaber could work.

Well Doomsday killed Superman by just beating him to death, so... can't see why a light saber wouldn't be able to as well.
We aren't certain what Doomsday is made from, they might both be impervious to lightsabers.

I'd say yes, otherwise wtf would happen? He's got to have some feasible weaknesses for gods sake.
His weakness is his stupidity. He is a really dumb superhero. "Don't worry I'll take the bullet!" Of course it's going to be a Kryptonite bullet you fool! You've been fighting these villains for long enough to know what to expect.

No, he's superman.

He can fly into the sun.
Who was killed by Doomsday, who simply beat the fucker to death.

That being said though, no. Not unless the force crystal is Kryptonite. You'll need more than that, like The Flash.

EDIT: This seems like the kind of thing that would be interesting in The Escapist Battledome.

Bwuh? isn't he human anyways so that plank of wood would be effective anyways?

Mein point is that as OPd as Superman is, he can be taken down because of a grain of sand's worth of a mineral that seems to litter every corner of the freaking planet (especially Smallville, where I swear they use kryptonite as bodywash in that series)

Is this pre or post-Crisis Superman. Pre-crisis he could put out a sun with his friggin' breath, sooo probably not. Post-Crisis it might be possible, but your not likely to find someone who'd be willing and able with enough skill to wield one. And they exist in different universes, yada yada yada etc. etc.

He also came back to life... so Fission Mailed.

That whole series was incredibly dumb and they just wanted to change his persona, so they killed him and had him come back all dark and myterious with long hair... and a gun. Superman using guns is like Wolverine using a steak knfe or Spiderman carrying around rope.

Reatarded.

I guess it's similar to the question; What happens when an unstoppable object meets and immovable object
fixed to how i saw it in a thread with that question a few months back

The Unstoppable object either pierces the immovable object (since no-one said Unbreakable)
OR
The Unstoppable object Ricochets off the immovable object and continues on its merry way

EDIT: saw another thread with a similar question, 3RD VARIABLE: Conceptually they could not exist in the same universe

Oh, and just because it pertains to this thread:

this is basically what would happen 90 percent of the time.

also isnt the force basically a form of magic? meaning it could effect superman?

If the writers want it to, then yes.

If you are a Jedi or Sith in a story with a serious atmosphere, then it will have some effect. It won't kill him outright, just do some damage. However, if Superman is useing his speed more, it is entirely possible that 1 hit will kill him, he is just too fast to get hit, but this is more unlikely. If this is some sort of silly crossover which obviously is trying to express how cool Star Wars is, then the light saber will cut Superman in half. If it's an alternate universe in a comic book setting, it is useless on Superman. Given a long enough timeline, or Lex Luthor, there will be a kryptonite lightsaber. In the hands of a novice who happens to have a lightsaber, Superman will win because it isn't dramatically appropriate. A decently smart bad guy will find a way to use the light saber on Superman while he relys on his invulnerability, but if a forceless bad guy does this, it won't work, even if in other hands a lightsaber would cut him in half. Because of...power...of experience...or some bullshit.

Basically, a light saber does exactly as much damage as is required to make the story interesting.

Can a lightsaber cut through steel? Yes. There you go.
I see what you did there.:)

OT:Yes if the crystal is kryptonite.
you do realize that the superman of Kingdom Come cannot be affected by Kryptonite. It is said by Lex Luthor himself
