Can you really consider someone in a powersuit badass?

If you are badass when you do something without the assistance of enhancement items, that means that every adventure game character is the ultimate badass. Just look at Guybrush who has literally nothing going for him beyond being sneaky, resourceful and having no moral code.

no no no, its the dependency on a certain item excluding weapons... unless they have a large variety of weapons and they choose only one then it counts. like playing halo using only the rocket launcher because you cant kill with any other weapon.

So I made the "Most Badass Video Game Character" thread and many people claimed Master Chief Samus etc.. but I honestly put them at the bottom of my list. Why? They are in a power suit that enhances their abilities to make them so invulnerable/'badass'. Someone like Big Boss/Solid Snake, Batman, Auron, Kratos (debatable) are badass because they do their thing with nothing but their own badassery (<----- made that word up) to completely own all that oppose them. to be fair they do have their weapons and such but they are usually facing a much stronger opponent. Ex. Snake vs tank, Batman vs Killer Croc/Bane, Auron (doesn't matter...), Kratos vs Legions of eemies and every God on Olympus + titans.....shirtless.

Do you agree? If not why?

I don't consider Characters like the Chief Badass Just because of Armour...

He's Badass because Spartans in general are just Badass, their attitude, the way they kill their enemies.

Yes because celeberated war vets like Simo Hayha who got over 700 kills aren't badasses because they wore armour, let's see those pussies take on the other armies with nothing but a loin cloth and a couple guns. A lot of the game characters considered badass are still human and can die, powersuits just decrease that chance, someone who doesnt wear armour and can do everything they do is just a bigger badass.

Just because someone has a powersuit/armour that enhances their natural abilities doesn't make them any less badass it makes them a super powered badass aka badass squared.

Out of his suit, Tony Stark is an undeniable bad ass. He's a great scientist, he's popular with the ladies, he's rich and charismatic and all kinds of awesome.

In his suit, he can take a tank shell to the face, he's a freaking superhero.

Does Iron Man become less or more bad ass when he puts the suit on? The answer is more; thus the answer to the topic is an empathetic "Yes".

wait wait wait... you cant take iorn man, a well written character and pit him against the others in a talent show. thats unfair, look i think how the suit is used, mixed with accomplishments is the ticket.

for instance, would iron man still be bad ass if he lost every fight? no... because the suit isent in play on that subject... its the fact that he made the suit with the idea of being bad ass in it.

A badass uses the tools at their disposal to get the job done. All of the characters you mentioned have their own tools they need to get the job done. Such as Solid's chameleon suit, Kratos' divine assistance, or Batman's...everything. Strip them of these things and they're no better off than the "bottom tier" badasses you mentioned. Also, in regards to Halo, if you try putting on that armor without being sufficiently badass it'll kill you.

If they stole the suit under the highest security- Badass
Man who can use powersuit to the fullest because of innate techniques (Suzaku and Lancelot from Code Geass)- Badass

1. Do not take credit for a word I made up. You owe me a quarter. Don't try to take credit for Awesomegasm either.
2. People like Batman yes, people like Kratos, no. It's easy to be badass when you're divine. That's less badass than being a normal who through a tin can becomes incredibly badass.
People like Snake cannot be badass as they are entirely reliant on stealth which is the opposite of badass.

I think someone who can sneak through 7 armies that have tech high enough to spot a mouse stealing some cheese from Pluto should be considered badass. Why should only fighters be considered badasses?
