wow, murder and cannibalism is only a 15 year sentence in Russia? This makes me wonder how frequently it's done! but yeah, whatever, it's stupid but it's only a few months out of an already pretty short sentence

My first complete thought on all of this, is that this guy is going to have one hell of a story to tell his prison mates when he gets in.

I say my first complete thought because this has me a bit thrown for a loop. The judge heard this guy say "spent my money on booze and gambling... so I had to eat my mother," just nodded politely and said, "Well, shit! That happens to me all the time!" Thereafter, reducing his sentence.

I am boggled.

That's a bit bizarre.

Hang on... Where did he get the Pasta from if he was "starving"?
Valid question.

Maybe... he lied to the judge and... (shooting in the dark here) the judge is an idiot?

Now, personally, I wouldn't go so far as to kill my mother, but even if I did, I would think stealing food would be a more logical step than EATING YOUR OWN DEAD MOTHER.
Another interesting point.

He has established that he is willing to murder, robbery, and commit cannibalism. Why is he above petty theft?

At the risk of being put on probation, I agree. The guy should die. I'm guessing Russia doesn't have the death penalty, unfortunately?
I think not. Because we're oh so civilised in the EU. To be fair mate I don't think it would be fair to be put on probation for our opinions anyway.
Russia isn't part of the EU.
Yet they can still compete in Eurovision... funny that...

OT - Yes, lets give the psychopathic murdering cannibal a low sentence because "he was hungry."

Perfectly logical series of event. Man kills mother. Man spends mothers money on booze. Man finds he has no food. Man decides to eat mother.

Now, personally, I wouldn't go so far as to kill my mother, but even if I did, I would think stealing food would be a more logical step than EATING YOUR OWN DEAD MOTHER.

But thats just me.

Well, everyone needs to eat, right?
And he shouldn't be harassed because of the diet choices he has made.

Hm, I've learnt something new. Half of it then.

Everyone dies eventually.

All you need do is wait him out.
This is true.

Are we going with a hunting thread perspective?

Is it ok, so long as he uses every part of his mother?

Russia.

It's a nice country but the legal justice system is arguably the worst in the entire fucking universe, with the possible exceptions of North-Korea and the UK (see other thread about the guy who got arrested for HANDING IN a shotgun).

I have met a few.

Kill someone? Maybe. (That is pretty far off.)

EAT THEM??? Definitely not.

This happened over months. I am thinking, 'emotionally disturbed' not alcoholism, on this one.

(In the empire, you do not hand in shotguns, shotguns hand in you.)

In soviet russia, mothers do not feed their children, children feed on their mothers.

Well, it was probably easier to just dispose of the body like that than risk getting caught stealing food. I'm just wondering if he fed guests with the meat...

"So Dragomir, what are we eating at the dinner party tonight?"

"Just some meat and pasta."

"MEAT?! Where did that bastard get meat?"

"He killed his own mother for gambling and booze money, and now he's living off the body"

"The sly dog. Wish I'd thought of that before my mother died. Actually... she only died a few months ago... Who wants soup?"

What the hell do people think of in Russia, if literally eating your own mother is a reasonable solution in a tight spot, so much so that you only get 15 years for murder, robbery and cannibalism.

Hang on, that fraudster who scammed billions... He got 150 years for his crimes. He will die long before his sentence is due to end. This guy stole money you have to remember.

How in the name of Christ can this guy get one tenth of his sentence for murdering his mother and eating her?

At the risk of sounding like a smug little history-fucking prick (which I AM, but that's beside the point), I'm compelled to point out that it's no longer "sovjet-"Russia.
Just plain old everyday Russia, thanks to Gorbatchov.

Nine months? maybe they counted the time he spent in his mother's belly as time served. Ironic, isn't it?

Yes, you do sound a little smug, but that is ok. I like the socially idiosyncratic, yet confident, mindset.

What you have not accounted for is the internet meme format involved. It is, specifically, "Soviet" Russia.

Or all of my maps are from the 1980s.

I hope the link helps clarify the matter.
