Rias

"How are you feeling a bit dizzy perhaps? maybe even nauseous? I mean you did loose quite allot of blood."

"a little woozy, and kinda sick, and kinda tired" Rias said rubbing her eyes a little "should probably find a place i can lay down, and get cleaned up, i don't wanna smell like blood all day" a light smile crossing her face, clearly trying to reassure the companions that cared if she lived or not that she would be fine.

Karen

"well we shouldn't move her very far, or often, if she's as messed up as it sounds." Karen added

"We might have to move her some distance," said Bom, scratching his chin. "All these corpses might, uh, start attracting all sorts."

The group back to the main road and continue following it, apart from the occasional insect bite or insect flying by, it was rather uneventful. Due to the delay by the time they reached the turn off the trent spoke about it was already getting dark. A bush near them had nocturnal flowers starting to plume, they had white petals, with glowing green lines on them.

As Fromanzio listened to what the Ent had told them to do, he sat and thought for a second. He had not been listening at all to what the ent said, but now an idea popped in his head. What if they sided with the guy killing ents? He is obviously powerful and could pose a great ally. The forest was already anything but friendly, so Fromanzio could not think of a better idea.

"Fromanzio has to pose a question. Why are we assuming the person we are tasked to kill is the bad guy? He might just be a jerk, don't get Fromanzio wrong here, but what if he isn't? He is obviously powerful, as he has killed not an ent, but many ents. Maybe it is time for a change of management in this forest? Gaining him as an ally would be a great asset and it is not like the forest is friendly to us at all. No need to commit, but consider Fromanzio's words on this one."

The fact that he had a vendetta against one specific ent was only half swaying his opinion on this one.

Rias

Rias listened to Fromanzio's speech from the back of a horse and sighed "while i highly doubt you'll understand, but here goes" she started, taking a breath in case her retort got long "first, this person has changed the Sophronius into feral monsters, and while you may not have had a chance to socialize with them prior to this little quest of ours, i have. it sickens me to think how they've been reduced, as for the trent. i've met several in the past, even entertained them, i always got the impression of them being firm, but fair. the rules are the rules and they will be followed or you face the consequences"

Rias had gotten some of her color back in the traveling but she was taking it easy regardless "but what do I know right? i've only spent most my life on the road after all"

Karen

'oh goodie, those to are talking to each other again, bet this'll end well' Karen thought, already getting ready tune them out when they started yelling at one another again

"but what do I know right? i've only spent most my life on the road after all"

The first retort. A decent one but... "While his tactics may be immoral, remember his foe. When under certain circumstances, if it were life and death you would do that to Sophronious to survive. These ents are relentless and will turn an entire forest on you if they dislike you. Fromanzio is just saying to come at him with an open mind is all. We need allies, and he could be one. The forest most certainly will not be our ally."

Fromanzio was utterly and starkly serious toned when speaking now. It is almost as if his personality had flipped a 180 from all of the violence. Some demon in him had been satisfied for the time being. Gods only know how long that will last, but for now he is by all purposes sane.

Rias

Rias gave Fromanzio a funny look, but continue regardless "that would depend on this persons motives, which, if we where going to attempt to requite them we should try and discover. but so far, i wanna feed them their own heart. your right about allies though, even with Karen's arrival we're still undermanned for this" she paused and thought a second "lets assume, for a moment we had a realistic chance to sway this person to our side, what exactly could we offer them? we're not exactly traveling with any thing in terms of trade"

"lets assume, for a moment we had a realistic chance to sway this person to our side, what exactly could we offer them? we're not exactly traveling with any thing in terms of trade"

Fromanzio laughed a sober laugh. "No no no, see he needs allies. That is the one thing he lacks and if he is at all reasonable, he would want a few. Simply put, he gets the forest, we get an ally."

Although he was sober, he was still an assassin and only a bit more calculating.

Rias

"No no no, see he needs allies."
Rias pondered this a few moments "the problem there would be 'can we trust them'. they did, after turn one group of Sophronious, that we know of, into mindless beasts, what to keep them from doing the same to us when we turn out backs? after all, the trent made it sound as though this person is Sophronious them selves, and if they're willing to do that to they're own people gotta figure the other races would be fair game" Rias pointed out, she didn't know why Fromanzio was being so reasonable, but it was a nice change and her tone reflected this 'approval'.

Fromanzio sighed. "Perhaps, all I am saying is to keep an open mind on the topic. If he can be reasoned with, then he is worth keeping around."

He had noticed that Rias was more civil, though he was unaware he was acting any differently.

"If he can be reasoned with, then he is worth keeping around."

"agreed ...." Rias blinked and stared at Fromanzio with a look of bewilderment 'we did NOT just have a civil conversation ..... how the hell did that happen ....' she thought, more surprised then anything else.

Bom was listening in on the discussion. Side with the Shaman? Would it stop the attacks? If so, the mission will be completed, one way or another...

Not wanting to trigger another agrument, he kept his opinions to himself. Instead, he tried a different subject.

"Karen, what do you do, exactly? I mean, we all know each other well enough; where each of us comes from, what we're good at, and so on. For instance - though don't go telling everyone this - I am, shall we say, something of a celebrity, back home. You may have even heard of me."

He paused, so as to let such an impressive revelation sink in. "I am, I confess, something of a rogue. A thief! But don't let that concern you. I assure you that though I may have a fearsome reputation, I am one of the, uh, the most, uh, nice ones."

Bom gave a self-satisfied smile. It was a pretty good introduction, one he had rehearsed many times, back in his old bunkhouse.

"Oh, but enough about me. Tell me about yourself!"

Rias

Rias turned toward Mr Bom as he asked about Karen, her conversation seeming to have concluded, and she wanted to know more about they're new Allie

Karen

"i beat the crap out of, or kill people" she said, then looked around gathering that wasn't going to be enough of an explanation "basically, i like to fight and given my 'powers' are 'thicker skin and sharp claws', I'm good for little else, so i go around, picking fight with who ever seems to be the strongest, or where ever the biggest battles or toughest battles are. Karen sighed and shrugged "sadly the army saw fit to waste my time with pointless drills rather then just shipping me to the front line, you know, where the party is, saying 'in have an attitude problem' or ' don't respect the chain of command', meh, who cares about all that, i wanted to hit people" her tone was mocking as she quoted her former COs "as i ... might have mentioned earlier, i think, don't take orders from weaklings, or people unwilling to prove they have the right to tell me what to do. rank means nothing, only strength matters"

William had been listing to the conversation between Fromanzio and Rias, he had decided to remain quiet. Trying to keep them apart hadn't worked much so he just let them fight. He did listen and he noted that Fromaznio really hated that trent, if he needed to tell such lies to try and make them side against the trent. He then walked closer to Karen and Bom trying to listen in on their conversation. After Karen had given an answer to the question, William found it safe to assume that she was precisely what he had expected. And they could use a person like her so he wasn't disappointed.

William smiled as he kept walking, he was lost in thought thinking about what had happend today. He thought today had been a very good day, because he had made peace with Claire and their numbers had grown. William could have gone up to Karen and said that the chain of command was there for an reason, but he had just made peace and he wasn't about to start another war. He did walk close to the group hoping to hear some more of the conversation, trying to learn new things about the group.

Claire listened closely to Fromanzio and Rias's words. Fromanzio did make a good point - they really didn't know what the Ent's intention was. Just because he was old, did not mean his goals were aligned with theirs. This shaman they were hunting was accused of influencing the forest, but he was not necessarily guilty of it; the Ent could be causing it himself to make the group remove the threat. Claire decided Fromanzio's approach seemed best - to stay on guard, but to try diplomacy first.

Not that this was any real grand revelation; she preferred diplomacy.

Bom noticed the darkening skies.

"It's already sun down, shouldn't we stop to set up camp? I think we could all do with a rest after today's events."

They'd been walking for several days now, and Bom's feet were feeling the pinch. A lack of footwear and wetlands does that to you. Bom leant against his mule and massaged his webbed toes. I know it's a forest, but why couldn't we have gone by river instead?

"yeah, i'd like to get some real rest, and cleaned up would be good to ..."

Karen

Karen shrugged, she could go on, but wasn't opposed to setting up camp

It's already sun down, shouldn't we stop to set up camp? Bom said looking at the darkening skies. "yeah, i'd like to get some real rest, and cleaned up would be good to ..." William nodded he agreed most of them could do with some rest. "Alright lets set up camp there." William pointed to an good spot about 50 meters away, William walked over there with his pony.

William made his pony stop, and he then fed his pony. Normally he would set up his tent next but not today, today he ahd to help someone first. His shoulder still hurt a bit, still the wound was nothing compared to the wound of Rias so he ignored it. William walked over to Rias who looked tired. "Want me to set up your tent? I mean it will be a real chore with your wound, and I am happy to be able to help you." William smiled at her. He hoped she would take his offer, in her condition it was very dumb to try and set up her own tent.

Bom put up his canvas by the others and dug a fire pit. The memory of the trent still lingered in his mind, so he spent a little longer than was necessary to prepare the campfire. Once it was lit, a healthy glow filled the clearing.

He sat down and helped himself to some more smoked fish. Remembering his manners, he offered a little to the others.

Rias

"Want me to set up your tent?"

"that would be appreciated William, thank you" Rias replied, her tone as tired as the rest of her, as she climbed down from her borrowed mount and helped William set her tent. though mostly as a supervisor.

afterward she thanked William again and crawled into her tent, she was tied, mostly from the blood loss and was more inclined to just go to sleep rather then stay up
Karen

Karen's first task was to set her tent, after that she helped Bom by finding rocks for the fire pit, then after the was finished, she sat down to enjoy the fire, the light of which reflected slightly on her scales
