I almost want to say that MMO's dont count, because they are designed to suck your life (and money) away.
but then again so are most games.

Why is it the more i hear of Dragon Age the more i want it! Its not fair!
I KNOW!!!!
at first i wasn't really excited about the game but now i keep seeing and hearing more about it, i just ... I WANT TO PLAY IT SO BAD!!
Gentlemen, I cannot say that I am not included in your circle. I had heard of Dragon Age, but it wasn't until the day it came out that I suddenly became very, VERY interested in it.

No More Heroes kept me entertained for three weeks. I'm hoping the sequel will do the same.

More recently I was significantly enjoying Saints Row 2 but that kinda fizzled out on one of the last story missions which is nearly impossible on easy. Damn Ultor...

Eh, I was very into the story in FF7. I played through a bit of it and just couldn't stop. And when I did, I became an anti-social sitting in the corner thinking of how badly I wanted to continue. Odd choice, but a good one.

There's also:
Oblivion (with all it's flaws, it's still DANG amazing)
Half-Life Series (so much fun to play through)
Zelda (any of 'em)
Starcraft (Do I need to explain?)
UT04 (I needed to practice because I was like, 12 and had crappy aim on the PC)
Quake 2 (It's a classic LAN game and I used to play it at school all the time)
Star Wars: Jedi Outcast/Academy (When I was younger I played around with a lot of mods for a long time)
Skies of Arcadia (same situation as FF7)
Tales of Symphonia (1st playthrough same as FF7. 2nd,3rd,and 4th were for Charcter interactions)
KotOR (I've played through it like, 7 times now)

There's some odd/old games in there, but I play any game that's awesome. There are a lot of old games that no one seems to play anymore that are amazing and can take your life away like these did for me.

Borderlands, since it came out on the 26th.

I have... *Checks* 3 days, 13 hours, and 50 minutes.
Seems like it would be more.
i just finished it for a second time, too.

Pokemon Platinum. And since it was on the DS I could take it with me to the bathroom. I didn't even have to stop playing!

Civilization IV, with no victory conditions on the hardest settings, with world builder disabled. I just find it fun.

That, and pretty much any game that either:
A. Makes me feel invincible (without ACTUALLY being invincible in game) or
B. Has many different choices

Interestingly enough, playing World of Warcraft (My "fallback" game) for a 10-30 minute period will instantly kill any compulsive game playing impulse (sometimes termed "Addiction") for about 36 hours. (In essence, a small amount of time playing WOW satisfies my urge to play games for an entire day and a half) I don't understand how people get addicted to WOW. It's like a protein bar, tastes nice (not good, but nice) and gives you a fix that normally requires a large meal.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this one but I'm going with Rock Band 2.

When it comes to playing it at home, with a few friends and all the parties I go to no-one touches the drums because that's my domain. There's just do many good songs and DLC too!

I just keep playing it until I can get really good on my favorite songs... And they're metal songs!

I LOVE Dragon Age! Solid combat system, fantastic story, deep characters! My next play through I'm gonna be a female elf warrior from the city who hates magic. I wonder if I can make it through the game with no magic users in my party.... I'm playing a mage right now and I'm half way through the game and trust me.... Mana Clash is a must have spell. The real threats in the game are always magic users and Mana Clash screws them over BIG time. I'll be gobling up any and all DLC that comes out for it.

Morrowind. Oh god that game took up so much of my time.

Also Guild Wars back when it first came out and was still decent.
