Cars 2 could be Pixar's first flop.

Cars is the only Pixar movie that I didn't like, but Toys Story 2 and 3 proved that they can do great sequels so this might be good.

I personally think Cars sucked, but I wasn't the target audience, and I'm still not. I guess it depends how they handle the movie. :p

Cars and Ratatouille were atrocious in my books, personally I wonder what the heads at Pixar were smoking when they came up with the plots.

HEEy Hooww about WE Make TwO FilMs? *drags on a spliff* One Is AbOuT a CaR, but It TAlks anD GoES rEAL fasT! *drawing gleeful giggles* And THE othERR Is ABout A TalKIng RaT, THAt CooKS! *the directors collapse about laughing like wheezy schoolchildren for 46 hours*

The original Cars movie might've been one of the greatest movies I would've seen...when I was ten years old and had my massive collection of model cars, seeing it now over five years after it's release I think it should've been better.

Cars 2 feels really unnecessary, especially with the whole secret agents and going to Tokyo plot. I doubt it would flop since it's Pixar, they've made nine great movies and several shorts and everyone knows that.

I think I'm the only one who believes A Bug's Life is their weakest movie, weaker than Cars.

You thought Toy Story 3 would suck?

I never really saw Cars. I saw some of it. Pixar usually make their movies to appeal to a wide demographic, with Cars it seemed to be focussed just on young boys who play with Matchbox Cars. It didn't really have the same 'alive inanimate object' whimsy as Toy Story, it was just, you know, alive cars. I'm sure it'll still appeal to that market still but yeah, I don't see it as being one of Pixar's good ones. Maybe somone else will have a shot at the Animated Feature Oscar although I doubt it's Dreamworks. With a sequel to a slightly above mediocre movie and the latest Shrek franchise-icide.

By the way, what is it with Dreamworks animated movies and always having a big dance number at the end? It's like watching fucking Bollywood.

Pixar is VERY good at making movies that look like they're gonna suck, and then don't...

Judging by Cars 2's trailers... I really hope they can keep it up :S

I do got to admit when I first saw the first Cars trailer I wasn't excited from the look of it but since they have good track record of successful films, I give it a chance. I end up liking the film for the special effects and the morals to the film.
As for Cars 2 again I admit I won't go to the cinema to watch it but only because I can't afford to watch all of the summer blockbuster films. They did admit however from one of the documtaries that one of these days one of they film will be a flop (I think they call it the Apple effect or something like that). By all means I don't want that to happen any time soon but it will bound to happen.

Yeah at the time I didn't think that they would be able to pull off a sequel to a movie that came out 8 years ago. But after watching the movie I realized that they had a very good reason for having it come out now.

At least it'll still be infinitely better than Shrek 5 or whatever it's called. =D

But Kung Fu Panda 2 still looks cool.
Agreed, there have been four good Pixar-esque 3D animation Dreamworks flicks and those are Shrek (1), Kung Fu Panda, Ice Age (1) and Ants. I do hope they don't kill the Kung Fu Panda franchise like they did Shrek and Ice Age...It could happen, but I'm an optimist.
Actually, Ice Age was done by Blue Sky Studios for 20th Century Fox.

But hey, 2013 is Monsters Inc 2
Don't shit me about, they're not honestly making a sequel are they?
Technically its a prequel called Monsters University. When Mike and Sully met for the first time. A little disappointing, since I would've liked to see how Sully reacted to Boo growing up.

They chose to do a sequel because of the unparalleled levels of merchandising that came from the first Cars.

Hate to burst your bubble buddy, but Mosters Inc 2 is going to be out in 2012 with Brave and the Premise of it doesn't sound good either...

In early 2011, there were claims that Monsters, Inc. 2 was going to be a prequel which focuses on Sulley and Mike's studies at the University of Fear, where they start off as rivals but soon become best friends. On March 29, 2011 it was confirmed that the film will be a prequel and the new title Monsters University was revealed. The feature will be directed by Dan Scanlon. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsters_Inc_2#Prequel]

OT: Cars was a decent film, but it definitely the weakest Pixar Film I ever saw. And then when I saw the trailer for Cars 2... You can imagine how disappointed I was. That looked terrible, and the Upgraded Graphics made Lightening McQueen stand out for some reason. I'll wait for this one to come out to DVD/Blu-Ray.

Go back and read the paragraph immediately before that one. It specifically says that Monsters University has been delayed to June 21st, 2013.

Everyone, this is the real reason why Cars 2 is being made.

I loved the original Cars, its my favourite Pixar film along with Incredibles and number 2 has Michael Caine in it, so no I think its going to rock.

The characters and message were nice but the reasons I liked it were because of the detail in the world around it. The way they theme everything from the cafe/fuel station to the fashion accessory/up grades. Im really into aesthetic design and I love films that inbrace it like Cars did. Its the reason im looking forward to the second one, it seems to be more about the places they visit instead of the characters weve already met.

Still the new characters look awesome, Michael Caine as Mike McMissle, a 60's stlye British spy, AWESOME!!! Yes, grant you, the fact that they intend to turn Lightning McQueen, one of that worlds most famous racers into a spy sounds daft but im sure Pixar know what their doing, its proberly a cover so they can get into V.I.P areas or something.

Im very much looking forward to it.

I don't care about Cars. It was decent, but nothing special. I'm more concerned with Monsters University. If they mess that up, then we can start worrying.
