So I recently played that new Family Guy game at a friends house and it wasnt that bad to be honest, it wasnt really that good either but if it was priced at 15$ as a XBLA game it would be a cool game.

Still the biggest problem that I had with it is that it didnt used the Family Guy IP properly, although they kind of were smart about the game setting.

(Rant about the game)

Basicly the game is about Brian and Stewie travelling multiple universes to stop that rival kid of Stewie. The idea is actually cool since what more has Family Guy to offer in an interactive medium? No one cares about exploring Quahog and all that matters are the jokes, except in that multiuniverse episode where its actually cool to explore the different weird and funny worlds that they come across.

This game sadly does that poorly since every world is incredibly uncreative and mostly turns out to be "What if X rulled the world?". The banter between Brian and Stewie is fun but since you play as them you only get to see it in cutscenes, they should have made what Ghostbusters did and make the player a new character for the game to make Brian and Stewie NPC's that would always act like themselfs. What makes these characters good is the interaction between them and taking that away by making one of them the player doesnt work. In Batman no one wanted to be Batman because of his personality, they wanted to be Batman to wear the costume and do Batman stuff like beating the crap out of thugs.

If the character has something unique to him that the player can do too then fine, give the player the ability to control him but if the character uniqueness is his personality and interaction with others how can a player replicate that? The best parts of the game will be in cutscenes when the control is taken away from the player (wich is what happens here).

I kind of started thinking what other cartoons would be cool to make a video game out of it, South Park is looking like it will be the Batman Arkham Asylum of cartoon based games.

TLDR: So what cartoon game would you like to see done properly and using the shows strenghs?

I think that Futurama would be cool as a GTA game since it has quite a lot of cool places to explore, and imagine that buddy system of GTAIV with Futurama characters, getting a call from Bender asking to go steal an orphanage and ending up burning the place.

That would be awesome - a true fact that cannot be disputed

For the uninitated, ReBoot is a CGI show from the 90's, one of the first CGI shows, I think. At any rate, it is mega kickass, because it takes place in the computer itself - a large portion of the characters (sort of the generic population) are zeroes and ones, but there are others, like Dot, Slash, Megabyte, Hexadecimal, etc. So a bit meta when you look at it. But the real kicker comes with the fact that when the "user" (referred to as some sort of deity) plays games, the games actually drop onto the city and anyone caught in them becomes an NPC. Woah, meta meta.

Anyone wanna take a guess as to what the initials "MLP" stand for? (You all knew this was coming...) I've seen plenty of people say they'd like to see this in an Elder Scrolls fashion. But honestly, I'd love to see more of a Donkey Kong 64 route.

Generator Rex was a TV series I enjoyed very much. And it turns out it got a videogame. Though, considering it's a cartoon-based game made by Activision, I don't have much to hope for. I could totally see it being something that less bloodthirsty [Prototype] fans could enjoy.

And then there was the good old Buzz Lightyear of Star Command Action Game. Big part of my childhood. Kinda reminds me of Ratchet & Clank now. It's something I haven't seen anywhere else. It's a third-person shooter that kind of has racing in it as you keep racing various criminals to their hideouts.

Adventure Time.

Yep, I haven't played it yet but I hope it's awesome, probably is too with the series creator and WayForward working on it.
Though the one thing that I really want is an epic story with ups and downs but from what I've seen it's kinda bland.
Prove me wrong!

To segue from that, if they take the parts that were great from origin and integrate them into the game with good mechanics then you'll have a good game

Sure it can! "Reboot would be a lame show to turn into a videogame." There, I just disputed it! :p

For a non "just-to-be-a-dick" reason, I'll say it'd end up being like a new-age remake of Tron. :3

As for my own suggestion: Rurouni Kenshin. Yes, there's already games based on it, but I want an english port of the badass Kenshin fighting games they have over in Japan!

Shinsei-J has it right methinks. It looks like Adventure Time will be a great success of Ducktails proportion!

Why didn't we ever get a Rock Band/ Guitar Hero Dethklok? It's too late now and I can accept that but that could have been the most brutal Guitar Hero of them all. Metallica is good but, they're no Dethklok.

I would also love a Looney Tunes game but I have no idea how to implement something like that.

Both South Park and Futurama already have games based on them. Futurama's in particular was pretty sucessful.

But other cartoons to make a game from? Hmm...

I wouldn't mind a Felix the Cat or Inspector Gadget game- probably be more fun than challenging, but it could be quite quirky getting to the next part where a context sensitive item appears- Conker's Bad Fur Day style. Plus with Gadget you could switch between Gadget, Penny and Brain. Which by the way would have completely different game styles, if we're following the show. Goddamn this game writes itself...

To be honest though, I'd like a proper Tintin sandbox. Not based on the crappy Spielberg turd of a movie, I mean based on the great 90s cartoon. Travel around the world in open levels on the trail of some caper, mystery or plot, fending off gangsters and other assassins etc. Throw in a battlefield like multiplayer war between Syldavia and Borduria (maybe a Los Theodoros themed one too), load it up with all the guns, bombs, tanks and aircraft from the books, and you have a winner.

war planet shadow raiders
the opening because every time i mention it i must post it,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXDH2NUYrgg
i think it would make a great RTS, were you take control of one of the planets and atemp to take control of the other world, with the interesting cultures and technologies the planets have it would be each race different to play. and you could hav environmental debuffs, like fire warriors take more damage on the ice planet.

it could make a good mass effect style RPG were you re play the show, tiring to unite the planet against the beast planet

The Futurama game had some serious problems, the best of it were the scenarios and the cutscenes while the interactive part of it was just bland. That is kind of saying that Batman had already showed all his potential with a game like this:

And South Park only had one decent game, although it was a tower defense... so yeah.

I watched a walkthrough of that game just 2 days ago, used to play it as a kid. I also used to play Action Man: Operation Extreme and actually liked it a lot, dont know if it was actually any good but here is some gameplay

Actually true. I should have specified a proper adaptation. It could be glorious. Then again, it's most possibly impossible due to variety of factors. Technology is not one of them.

Sadly, there was a Playstation Reboot game and it was awful (although the ending FMVs were pretty good, you can find them on Youtube). Still a good idea though, same for Shadow Raiders especially if you set it a while before the coming of the Beast Planet so the four planets could have conflicts between each other first before having to become an alliance, more variety than just fighting Beast Drones 24/7.

I don't really follow modern 'toons so this one's about as old as the previous two, but how about Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot in the style of Armoured Core? Pretty much every episode had a 'boss fight' against a massive robot, mutant or alien at some point, and you have your choice between a small nimble robot with infinite flight and more advanced neutron weaponry in his fingers and a huge bruiser mech armed with rocket-powered fists, missiles and gatling guns. Both are very funny characters, and so are the main villains.

The Felix the Cat game wasn't too terrible; the platforming was okay, but the powerups were all over the board.

But... no Tony Jay. It just wouldn't be right if they made a ReBoot game without Megabyte.

D:

Don't make me cry. Tony Jay is one of my favourite VAs ever. I did feel sad when he passed away.

But I figure it doesn't need to be set in Mainframe - it could be spread out through other systems. It could even be an MMO set in the time Mainframe was closed off. Plenty of potential there - Daemon just emerging and stuff.

There are some cartoons/anime I'd like to see as videogames: Code Geass and Ghost in the Shell.
Code Geas lends itself better action shooter as it's about open warfare while Ghost would probably be more of a stealth game.
The 2008 Simpsons game is good too, and didnt Ghost in the Shell had a decent game?

You mention Batman Arkham Asylum, but Batman Arkham City almost did something amazing by allowing you to play as Animated Series Catwoman and Batman (with DLC, and also maybe Robin, not sure about that one). If they had included animated series models for each major villain and maybe the thugs, that would have been amazing.

And aparently the simpsons game that was released not long ago wasn't bad, and the Futurama game, while horrible, did have great writing.
