Forget Japanese cartoons. "Ren and Stimpy" or half the stuff shown after hours on the Cartoon Network has been made in the US, and the material is crass and definitely not for young kids. It might be funny to the right people, but it's not shown alongside Dora the Explorer, and for a good reason.

Uh, The Simpsons. I don't feel I really have to elaborate all that much, just The Simpsons.

I'm 18 and I still watch all the cartoons I grew up with on occasion, I remember a couple years ago, my parents kept asking me why I was still watching them at my age, asked how I still found it entertaining. Of course, they're hypocrites because when Spongebob is on the TV my dad laughs at the jokes when I sit there, wondering why he is.

I would show them Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.
That cartoon is definatly 100% fun for all the family ;)
I actually did that once.
Do tell.
A guy in band said that cartoons are for kids. I invited him to a friend's house and we showed him the whole first arc. Bastard never talked that kinda smack about cartoons again.

I was watching South Park once when my Aunty came to visit, can't remember what episode it was, but Cartman was parading around in a nazi uniform giving the "Töten sie die Juden" routine and she went "Well that's not very Family friendly is it, why are they showing it at this time?" No shit Sherlock! And it was 9 at night. ¬_¬

My parents used to think that then I showed them Family Guy, turns out my mum's a sucker for fart jokes.

Yea, most of the supposed "mature" kids at my scool. But fuck them, If I like watching cartoons, they can never stop me form doing ti, so its all good.

Though when your a grown man watching shows like Roly Poly Olly or Sesame Street alone, with a seriousness like you would regular shows, I'm sorry but I'm going to judge you.

Some people that I told that I like Dragon Ball say that it's "For 5 year olds." Which if they watched the uncut version would be sorely mistaken. Whenever I watch The Spectacular Spider-Man, some people will say that I'm watching a kids show which is kind of true but there is some stuff that appeals to the older crowd.

My Pop Pop (Grandpa) Thinks that Cartoons are for youngens and that I should take up Music (Which I am a good Pianist and Violinist) instead of being a Cartoonist.

Plenty of people tell me that. But then I show them Ed, Edd, 'n' Eddy, Samurai Jack, and Megas XLR.

That usually shuts them up. Especially Megas XLR. It doesn't matter what age you are, giant robots kick ass.

I also show them Pixar movies. I even got one of my "manly" friends to cry when we went to see Up.

Also Futurama.

Ever met someone or a group with that mentality?

I honestly havent.
not lately. I tend to stay away from those people.
or show them "Bible Black" then I wait to see if they feel the same afterward.

I remember one episode they helped a ghost commit suicide.
Oh god...."Ren's Toothache"...that's not for kids, adults or ANYONE.
