These guys know how to make people happy. No DRM, free DLC, more than 80 hours of gameplay, no dumbing down for consoles. It's like a PC gamers wet dream.
I pre-ordered mine on play.com originally but then cancelled in favour of gog.com's much better DRM-free offer. This is certainly welcome news; until now, I've never bothered with DLC apart from a couple for The Force Unleashed and Watchers Keep for Dragon Age: Origins, all of which I swiftly regretted buying.SomeLameStuff said:As time goes on, I'm getting more and more pleased that I preordered Witcher 2.
Yep, I was going to wait for the game to go on sale or something and its blowing my budget to hell for this month but whatever... I believe in something so I'm going to put my money where my mouth is.NathLines said:FUCK.
IT!
I'm pre-ordering this now. I have no fucking excuse anymore. I just have to support CD Projekt for everything they're doing.

I reeeaaaaally didn't like what I played of it, which was admittedly only a few hours, but all this stuff I keep hearing is making the devs sound like good people. Dunno, will possibly reinstall it, and if they release a demo for witcher 2 I will certainly try it, but I still dunno if I'll like this game.
The only issue I had with the first game (which I played recently for the first time in anticipation of The Witcher 2) is its combat, pretty much everything else, most of all the choice and consequences they implemented are absolutely amazing and if they do combat right while keeping everything else on the same level as the first, then The witcher 2 will very quickly become one of my favorite games of all time.
Yes, because charging people for content that you create is clearly incredibly scummy.Azex said:i wasn't planning on getting The Witcher 2 since the 1st one didn't really leave a huge impact on me. but seeing how truely awesome these guys are handling there product i will Deffinatly buy a copy.
CD Projekt are a class act in an increasingly scummy buisness. I hope this shows the rest of the devs how things should be done.
Check out some gameplay videos. It's awesome. They got rid of the aim and click combat in favor of a more interactive and fast paced combat. Still very strategic though, more so than any other RPG today. It looks brilliant.Gordon_4 said:bob1052 said:For what its worth, they have a new engine and a completely redone combat system.Grey_Focks said:I feel like I should really try to get back into the Witcher because of all this. How have they re-done the combat system?
I want to know because the Witcher (like DA: O) had a story that sucked me in, but I hated the combat so the game wasn't as enjoyable as I had hoped. So if the combat in Witcher 2 is better, I'll happily sink Day 1 Dollars on it.
Oh get of your high horse and stop being a dick, we're talking about DLC, not the full game, we're happy to pay a fair price for the game but most DLC is rip-off priced rubbish, purely created to wring extra cash out of gamers. Or worse its actually a part of the game (which you've already bought) which is locked away until you pay still more money for it.Radeonx said:Yes, because charging people for content that you create is clearly incredibly scummy.Azex said:i wasn't planning on getting The Witcher 2 since the 1st one didn't really leave a huge impact on me. but seeing how truely awesome these guys are handling there product i will Deffinatly buy a copy.

God forbid they continue to charge people for games!
Anti-piracy measure: you need to register a serial code on The Witcher website to get this (and the Polish language pack AFAIK, and any other language packs or stuff of similar scale that CD Projekt cooks up).LightningBanks said:Not that Im not happy about this, but if the release day DLCs free, then why isnt it just in the game?
Remember Mafia 2? Good God that was a rip off!Continuity said:Oh get of your high horse and stop being a dick, we're talking about DLC, not the full game, we're happy to pay a fair price for the game but most DLC is rip-off priced rubbish, purely created to wring extra cash out of gamers. It can be overpriced to shit but that doesn't meant that the devs don't deserve compensation.Continuity said:Oh get of your high horse and stop being a dick, we're talking about DLC, not the full game, we're happy to pay a fair price for the game but most DLC is rip-off priced rubbish, purely created to wring extra cash out of gamers. When was there EVER value in buying games on release? The benefit of buying a game on release is NOT value, but having it at the earliest possible time, rather than waiting.water_bearer said:Yes! Finally a developer who understands the incredible WTF that is paid DLC content.
I hate paid DLC, it's the reason I don't buy games when they release anymore. Having to buy a game and then having the developer release "other parts" of the game separately with additional fees is such a swindle. Especially when a year (usually less) down the line the whole shebang gets released in a GOTY edition that is $20 cheaper than the original. It kills the value of buying a game on release...
Except, CD Projekt is one of the largest game publishers in Poland. So it goes to show that even large corporate entities can still have souls and retain the ability to treat loyal customers well. Game on EA, Activision, Ubisoft, ect.Canadish said:Small independent studio produces stunning looking fantasy game, DRM free copies are made available, with all the depth of a classic RPG, and offers free DLC to boot.
