Regenerating health, cover-based shooting, a time travel plot, a portal reference, a quick-time event, and I'd like it to be an in-name-only sequel with a plot that centres around Americans killing terrorists with big guns.

Just Resident Evil 4 in different locations. And bring Barry back into the story, he's always been my favourite character. Never quite got the fascination with the run and gun, it wasn't needed in 4 and it wouldn't have improved anything.

EDIT: Also, no co-op. Or at least not in the same mandatory sense like it was in RE5.

I want it to just turn into a bloody third person shooter already, it hasn't been survival horror for a long time, its now this weird hybrid that's teetering on the edge of being a TPS but desperately trying to cling to its old ways as if to say "no really, I'm not an action game!" Everything about the games scream action, except the awful and clunky control system which don't belong in the environments of either RE4 or RE5. It's really quite laughable...

I say, cut the pretense, and just bring it over into the new genre, make the controls looser and smoother, and fix the shitty inventory system. OR just scale it right back to real survival horror mechanics.

I'd like a return to T/G Virus zombies. The slow scary ones. The ones that took most of a mag to the chest before they finally went down. The ones that turned into Crimson heads if you didn't cremate them. Because fucking hell, there was nothing scarier than that dread. Watching that corpse slowly get darker, more red, as you frantically searched for more ammo or fuel.

Also, no co-op partner. Really ruined the atmosphere. Fucking Sheva/Chris. I AM TRYING TO BE SCARED BY THIS GAME, SHUT YOUR GOD DAMN MOUTH.

Ammo should be limited, weapons basic and as much as I loved dear old Wesker, please let him stay dead, RE5 ruined him for me... RE5 just sucked straight up.

Need to get RE2 back off my mate now that I think about it, must spend more time with my dearest friend Leon.. (mumbles incoherently as he trudges off into the night).

That the cool guy in the trailer is one of the Wesker children

Lickers, Hunters, Tyrants and Crimson Heads must make an appearance

The game is actually fucking scary.

Then I will definetly get it.

1) Run and gun.
Make it play a little like Uncharted with the non-pause inventory system from RE5. I think it would be extremely hard to properly challenge and scare the gamer using this style, but I'd prefer it to maintaining the RE4 control approach.

2) Plenty of focus on incorporating environment.
I don't want this game to be a typical third person shooter. I want to have scarce ammo such that I'm forced to attack using the environment in order to survive. Guns can be used to save me in a pinch, but most of the focus is on outmaneuvering zombies and attacking them with whatever is lying around.

3) No Wesker.
He's an awesome character...but quit forcing him down our throats. Let RE5 be the end of it.

4) Bosses that aren't over the top and monstrous.
I hate the RE trend that every boss is a human that mutates into something 2x to 30x it's size after you finish a conversation with them. Make some bosses simply skilled combatants that challenge the heroes. Alternatively make the bosses an extra challenging sequence that feels like a boss. Notably the cabin sequence section 2.2 in RE4 feels like a boss without actually having one.

For fuck sake, let me at least sidestep when I aim. I'm getting tired of having my gun jerk into a corner only for me to have to come out of aim, face right, take a step forward, face left and aim again.

Shit, that's not something you should be hanging onto, that's bad game design. I could understand it in the older games, but the newer ones shouldn't stick to an older, clunky control scheme just because their series would be "forever changed" without it. It really wouldn't if they would just bring back actual zombies (which they're doing) and a decent antagonist.

Edit:

I suppose I could ask for it to be scary, but then again, its never really been scary in the first place. I suppose it was scarier when we were all younger, but lets be honest here, scary stuff even back then is laughable now.

You know, I think if they just straight up copied Dead Space in terms of Combat, it'd be a nice edition to the game.

You mean the control system that made that game so unique and fun?

Judging by most of the rest of the post you just want to turn it into another Uncharted game, which I'd be fine with because I love the Uncharted series, but I'd rather RE6 went back to what made RE4 great rather than distance itself.

Oh, and just drop co-op altogether; we all know that survival horror isn't nearly as exhilarating if you've got a friend with you.
