*Spoiler Warning*

Tai, Gears of War 2. Shocked me the first time.

And Maria, from the same game- I thought it was sad.

Well, that's rather...broad. Okay, I guess I'll bite.

<color=white>Makoto in Kanon. Had me crying for a day and depressed for four more.

Half-Life 2 Episode 2.

If you've played it all the way through you know what I'm talking about.

Skagzilla from Borderlands. Why'd he have to go and die?!

Okay, okay, seriously:

I was incredibly sad to see Krew go, since he was one of my favorite characters. Same goes for Sig, but he came back, so that was cool.

The Boss at the end of MGS 3. Making the player pull the trigger was just cruel. Especially when you're told at the end she wasn't really a traitor. (It's been out for years, I assume the Spoiler effect has worn off).

Anyone in Heavy Rain. Suprisingly I even care about the characters I dislike.

Anyone in The Path. I know I tend to jump to that game for everything, but I love it.

How about Eli at the end of Half-Life 2: Episode 2? Valve had spent several games making his character rich and well-developed, and they even added another twist to the whole Gman thing, an then they just cut the entire line short when you least expected it.

As far as games go, I can't think of anything at the moment. But as for movies, I can't say that a death has made me sad but there have been plenty of deaths that have made me laugh a bit, mainly the deaths in films such as Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St, Alien etc. Purely because most of the people who do snuff it are generally annoying and you'd be glad to see the back of them.

Carlos from Saints Row 2, Merc's death in Mirror's Edge, and the bridge scene in CoD4.

Also, some of the deaths in Dead Space make me faintly disturbed, they can get pretty gory.

I know you're new, but be careful with the spoilers. Use
TEXT[*/spoiler] without the * to put a spoiler in a box.

Tales of Symphonia had me blubbering big time as <spoiler=spoilers>all your team mates are killed off, one by one. I always liked Sheena and Raine the most, but the most touching scene was with Genis. So horribly authentic. So glad when I saw everyone made it. Yeah... I get very engaged in good RPG's.

Eternal Sonata also made a bit sad when <spoiler=spoilers> Polka takes the dive at the end (yeah, she doesn't actually die, but still) and when Claves dies. Such a sweet girl full of so much love.
But aside from that scene, Eternal Sonata actually makes me pretty happy a lot of the time. Oh! I can't forget about Skies of Arcadia! When Belleza<spoiler=spoilers> kills Galcian and let herself spill one tear, and when Ramirez rages over his death, hitting the ground. Same thing when you meet him. It's very touching, and I can really feel her love and his rage. It was also too bad you had to kill a brilliant man like Galcian. A great loss, and at the hands of the player no less. SoA was always brilliant like that.. so raw and yet so bold in the face of that. Most inspiring RPG ever made.

I'd say Mordin, I got attached to the guy and when I left him on the line to hold off the reapers he ended up dieing. He was the only one. I shouldn't have taken Grunt and Garrus with me. WHY COULDN'T IT HAVE BEEN ZAEED! Seriously, the guy has the personality of a brick.
