When Liquid Snake died.

Then he didn't die, so I killed him again.

Then he didn't die again so I blew up his jeep.

Then he didn't die, and finally FoxDie got him. Stubborn fucker finally went down after that didn't he?

Axel dying was mega :( for me.

Watching Arthas ram Frostmourne through Illidan's chest was all kinds of badass. Pity it didn't last.

I'm physically having to force myself to go back and play Heavy Rain and kill everyone off to get different endings.

I loved every character in that game so much.

I was a bit surprised in Modern Warfare 2 when

Sheppard killed my two favorite characters in the same scene.

SPOILER EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS KINDA
Probably Andrew Ryan, from Bioshock. He was such a well spoken and conflicted character, who saw the world he made for himself collapse around him. It's too bad you didn't have a choice in killing him.

For Skies of Arcadia, I can relate.

I did not like Galician, even as a villain. And I appreciate good villains. Granted, he was a step up from the damn Queen of Valua, but I feel the badass trophy is for Ramirez to take. And incidentally, I could understand his outburst when Galcian died. He admired the man, probably like a father figure.

But my game-related death will always be...

Shinjiro Aragaki. Even the main character's game-plot-important sacrifice doesn't overshadow this, I think. Shinjiro didn't have the benefit of the Wild Card or even a stable Persona, but he did what he had to do. He joined the team to kick some ass. And then he got shot by that asshole, Takaya. Still, he did what he had to do and accepted his lot in life, getting up and walking off...'till he died. I liked that, dammit. He had style. Rough around the edges, but he was cool.

<spoiler=Myeah>Ramirez was a better villain figure. I just liked Galcian as a strong, admirable character, which helped with making you understand why he was like a father/mentor to Ramirez. I never really saw Galcian as a villain, as he was only doing what he thought was best. And for that, I have to admire him a bit.

Big shout for Eli in HL-2 EP2. Also most of the deaths bar Ashley Williams in ME 1 and 2. Actually only Ashley and Mordin died, i loved Mordin so that pissed me off, but fuck Ashley, Racist so and so. Carlos in SR2, Linh in SR1, Roach and Ghost in MW2, Gaz and the rest in MW1, James aka Daddy (Liam Awesomesauce Neeson) in Fallout 3 and various others.

Tai, Gears of War 2. Shocked me the first time.

And Maria, from the same game- I thought it was sad.
I was sad when Tai went. I was sad about Maria at fist too, but then I was happy because it meant Dom could finally shut the hell up about it!

ME2 mini spoiler below.
When Miranda got killed on my first play through. Thank christ!! I Really do hate her...

Carlos (SR2), James (Fallout 3), Fredo (GF2).
None of these men deserved what they got.

Ashely from Mass effect. :D

I was happy.

Least likable love interest ever. With the possible exception of Aerie, but she was just annoying; Ash was a full on Bi**h.

I'd say Mordin, I got attached to the guy and when I left him on the line to hold off the reapers he ended up dieing. He was the only one. I shouldn't have taken Grunt and Garrus with me. WHY COULDN'T IT HAVE BEEN ZAEED! Seriously, the guy has the personality of a brick.
I had the same problem, apparently
Its best to have him escort the Normandy Crew or take him with you to the final fight b/c he's very frail. Oh and I actually like Zaeed, but then again I love the Canderus Archetype

Anyway, two that stick out in my mind at the moment are
I actually was angry at Garza's death, mostly because it could have been avoided if Rico wasn't such an Idiot hot head. Seriously, Garza was the only member of the squad I came close to actually liking. Rico can die and be violated by the cast of Deliverance, not exactly in that order
And
In Bad Company 2 when Flinn gets shot down you could literally trip on my jaw at that point. I liked him especially at that point, plus since they made Haggard serious in this one, it was good to see him in his usual optimistic and playful mood when you recovered Flinn and had that race. Oh well, still a great game
I know there are more but those ones stick out at the moment.

Ya, I know better now. The first playthrough was a bit of a trial run.

Just to see what would happen if I chose which character. I actually got the engineer and the fire team correct, but the Biotic choice ended up costing me Thane and then Mordin died in the next battle. I redid it and switched Miranda as my biotic with Samara and ended up coming out on top after leaving Grunt and Garrus back. And I sent Tali back with the group both times since I find her combat capabilities lacking. Second playthrough I took Jack and Mordin with me to fight the human reaper.

I can't even play the version where Alistair would take the last blow. Can't do it. It's the ritual for me, every time. Or sacrifice myself, that I can do.

Someone posted a video with all the deaths. I could not watch it. Those characters are my pals.

And finally, the death I thought was most satisfying... dun dun dun
When I finally got to kill Arl Howe after playing the Human Noble Quest. Actually, the whole beginning of the human noble quest is quite gut wrenching. And I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but if you play as a female human noble, Arl Howe's men ask you if you are going to be around the castle that night, and then kind of snicker if you say you are. Nasty!

Sad?

Andrew Ryan definitely, because I knew the game would get boring without him.

And strangely Ravel, from Planescape. I know she's an evil old witch, and you have to fight her, but she did what she did because she loves your character, even though you make it clear she's not touching your prick. The way she calls you her "precious little man-thing"...I felt like the ring being caressed by Gollum. Creepy, but also special.

Any time an Overseer or a President dies in Fallout, I'm a happy guy.

I hated most of the characters in GTA4, but I never wanted to kill Faustin. It was obvious he was cool with you. I did all the side shit before I was forced to kill him. I just couldn't believe a game that touted 'player choice' would force you into such an obvious set-up. On the other hand, I hated Playboy X. He was such a fake prettyboy, I emptied 50 rounds into him easy, then kicked him a lot. It was like Robocop. And when Manny got wasted was hilarious.
