None of these men deserved what they got.
Seriously, Fredo!? Have you never seen the movie? That little shit sold out his own brother and started a war with a potential ally family who was honorable. And he did it out of jealousy, because 'nobody took him seriously'. I wonder why. Fuck Fredo!

Same, I then got through all the assassination missions and got unlimited ammo for the best rifle and kicked some Brotherhood ass.

And I feel like there was a character that made me sad that they died but I can't remember. Of course the final enemy in any game when you finally kill him is always satisfying.

Arl Howe in Dragon Age Origins. So happy to finally get him to shut up. Any number of characters in Fallout 3 caused both. Dogmeat, charon=sad. Tenpenny, most of megaton=:)

The death of Lazercat caused much sadness (not teechnically from a game but i dont really care).

Final Fantasy 6:
Cyan's friends, family and king dying in front of him, and then he gets to watch their ghosts depart the mortal plane. He must be one stubborn samurai of conviction for that to not drive him suicidal with grief. (Its more fun to defeat Kefka with only Cyan and his bare fists of fury.) The music composition was awesome; from the playful, sinister Kefka theme to the urgent Unforgiven to a gripping, tragic silence. Seriously, Silence IS GOLDEN for this moment. As a player you bearly know Cyan, but how can you not feel sorry for him when he finds his wife and only son are ALREADY dead? The mournful silence speaks for itself.

Megaman X1
The first time Zero died in Megaman X was inspiring, because it seemed like Sigma was winning the war against humans and Zero's sacrifice was humanity's last chance.
The music was down-beat and bassey, and I felt it was reflective of X's resolve.

Megaman Legends:
After shooting down the Bonnes in the Flutter. The idea of actually killing them after Tron's shame and Teisel's swanson speech terribly off-color for a happy Megaman game. It made me realize that they evolved from annoying distractions to likable rivals, and it makes further encounters with them more satisfying.
I mean, would you murder Team Rocket if given the chance?

All of the Silent Hill 'bad endings' were emotional enough to motivate me to get the good endings. And even some one of those endings still left a bitter taste.

Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness
Death murdering Rosa as Rheinhart was absolving her was a great shot of rightous adrenaline: You get a good reason to HATE Death, not just disagree with him.

Can you blame him for feeling jealous, for feeling angry?
He was overshadowed twice, looked over, and stepped on.

Maria in Silent Hill 2, when she gets stabbed before she can get into the elevator in the hospital.
Tenpenny's death in GTA:SA. It was just a tremendous sense of finality.
Arthas killing his father in Warcraft3. It was badass to say the least...

Tales of Symphonia had me blubbering big time as <spoiler=spoilers>all your team mates are killed off, one by one. I always liked Sheena and Raine the most, but the most touching scene was with Genis. So horribly authentic. So glad when I saw everyone made it. Yeah... I get very engaged in good RPG's.

But aside from that scene, Eternal Sonata actually makes me pretty happy a lot of the time. Oh! I can't forget about Skies of Arcadia! When Belleza<spoiler=spoilers> kills Galcian and let herself spill one tear, and when Ramirez rages over his death, hitting the ground. Same thing when you meet him. It's very touching, and I can really feel her love and his rage. It was also too bad you had to kill a brilliant man like Galcian. A great loss, and at the hands of the player no less. SoA was always brilliant like that.. so raw and yet so bold in the face of that. Most inspiring RPG ever made.
I KNOW!!!!! Both of those are so true. I was shocked in Symphonia and in Arcadia, I really liked Belleza...also in Arcadia
<spoiler=spoilers> when Drachma goes down with his ship, I was really upset! But he makes a comeback, so it was all good
Then, in Tales of the Abyss when
<spoiler=spoilers> Asch dies near the end....I was so sad! I wanted him and Natalia to get together....

Ive said it before and ill say it again... Brads death from dead rising almost brought me to TEARS, i liked him so much.
I fully expected to see him stagger out of the tunnels after earning Zombie Genocider with his bare hands. Brad was awesome.

I respectfully disagree. Fredo got off light, unless GF2 doesn't mean Godfather 2.

As for me, I'll say it: Watching Aeris buy it made me happy until I realized it would give Cloud an excuse to emo out for the rest of the game.

I wouldn't call getting shot in the back of the fucking head light.

Upon their mother's death, and at the urging of their sister Connie, Michael relented toward Fredo and seemingly offered reconciliation. However, it was only to draw Fredo in so as to have him murdered.

Fredo and his nephew, Michael's son Anthony, developed a relationship and were to go fishing on Lake Tahoe. However, Anthony was called away by Connie, who told him that his father wants to take him to Reno. Fredo was left alone in the fishing boat with Al Neri and he took the boat far out onto the lake. His suspicions prior to his death are left up to interpretation. As Fredo prayed the Hail Mary, Neri shot him in the back of the head, not knowing that Anthony was watching from his bedroom window, who then had a deep resentment toward his father ever since.

He sold his brother out. He betrayed his capital-F Family. He's lucky to have died so painlessly.

I don't blame Fredo for feeling jealous, but he did put Michael's children in harm's way. Michael might have been able to forgive everything else as 'just business,' (albeit doubtfully as Michael is the ruthless type anyways) but its pointedly clear that Michael was most upset over his children almost getting shot as they were playing with toys. Isn't that a major violation of the Mafia code anyways?

He wasn't trying to do that, he was trying to get something for himself for once, he was unaware he was being used in a larger plot against Michael.

I lit up like the Fourth of July when I watched the little sisters jump on top of Fontaine and stab him repeatedly with their little ADAM Gathering needles in Bioshock.

I nearly cried when Shepherd killed Ghost in Modern Warfare 2 and in COD 4 a single tear rolled down my cheek when I saw Gaz get shot in the face.

Because Don Corleone knew he didn't have what it took to be in command. He was willing to get his own brother killed so he could become someone else's puppet. No sympathy. As far as his knowledge of the attempt on Micheal's life, he admits to knowing about it, but says he just thought Roth was trying to intimidate Micheal. Stupidity does not get you a pass.
