Persona 3:
Shinjiro Aragaki and...Y'know...YOU. Shinji was my second favorite character (Koromaru still wins there), and he was just a badass character. One of the few whiny ones, and they kill him. And you, the main character, after all that work to save the world, die in the end. Still aggravated that I did all that for nothing. Of course, it is my fault for getting the Special Edition and finding out that you actually die, and not just fall asleep.

Shadow Of The Colossus:
Agro. I mean, technically, she doesn't die. But for that brief moment before that final battle, my heart was torn out. The one constant companion for you in that world, and Team Ico has to "kill" her off at the end. I actually cared more about the horse than I did the Wanderer.

Character deaths that made you very happy, sad or any other emotion...
... because when all the other threads have been done, I still think I can start an original thread by combining them all.

Anyone in Heavy Rain. Suprisingly I even care about the characters I dislike.
(Giddy fan boy glee) Yep. I really thought that I would have cried if almost any one of those characters had died for me. Almost even the rotten egg one.
I at first didnt like Nahman Jaydan, but he grew on me, the chick I always liked, and same with the dad. And I thought that the PI was the closest to earth (Dont read if you have not finished)
How wrong I was

(seeing how it is player based I wont use spoiler tags) If Tali had died from Mass efect 2.

Prince Rurik in Guild Wars

I was so happy I jumped up and cried for joy.

I wasn't too thrilled when Saidra died. She had the best accent in the whole game.

0 for games.. I really don't think i ever care for any video game character that deeply.. I did however laugh my ass off when Seymour in FFX died because he is one of the worst villans of all time! Not because hes evil.. Because he fails on all levels! + look at his freaking hair do! And he wears some girly kimono.. And he wears a eskemo suite to a wedding.. Anyway.. For anime tho. Kamina from TTGL he was just so badass that he didnt deserve to die! But semen took his place! His name is Simon but they pronounce it Semen! OH HOW I LOVE THE JAPS!

Killing Whisper at the arena on Fable. Jeez, what a ***** of a character. I delivered that last stroke with a smile. I thought if the game wanted it to be a hard decision to make, they should've tried making her likeable.

On the same note, not being able to kill Thunder really got my goat. I disliked him in equal amounts.

I want to avoid spoilers, but a certain character who dies around two thirds of the way through Bioshock.

Also, I think that character deaths were done spectacularly in Bioshock 2 as well.

Well, since he hasn't been said yet, The End from MGS3. That whole fight was just amazing, and his death was just sad. And then the fight with The Sorrow where you see his bird flying over him saying "grandpa!"....made me feel like a right prick. And, as said before The Boss from the same game was also pretty depressing. In terms of happy deaths, my first chainsaw kill in Gears of war takes that blood covered cake.

The death of Lazercat caused much sadness (not teechnically from a game but i dont really care).
I'm kinda surprized that it took a page and a half to mention this.

I have to agree with all the people that said A. Ryan because...

***SPOILER***
He makes you kill him.

It's so sad. At least I thought it was sad.

Sadness:
Drakengard 2
The death of Caim and Angelus in the second one. I had to pause the game and recollect myself before I could keep playing. If you've played the first game, that scene is so damn sad. Also, the death of Urick was sad though I knew it was going, thanks to reading a spoiler. And I also must admit that I felt bad after killing Yaha.

Shadow Hearts: Covenant
The ending. Sure, Yuri got a second chance if you got the good ending but damn, it was so sad to see him get skewered.

Shadow of the Colossus
I know Wander didn't die, but heck, his fate was still sad. It just wasn't fair.

Death Note
The death of Light Yagami. Yeah, he was a sick bastard but he was my favorite and I cried when he finally got caught and died.

Silent Hill
Lisa Garland. The music made it even sadder.

Final Fantasy X
Tidus. Despite what many people thought of him, he was my favorite FF character and man, that ending...I cry every time I watch it.

Rage:
Rule of Rose
Brown's death. That scene just...ugh. Complete rage. 0.0

Joy:
Shadow of the Colossus
The "death" of Agro. I'm sorry but I hated that horse. Only to find out he didn't actually die...ugh.

I think it's clear that it's easy to upset me in a game though. xD I get very attached to characters...

I got really sad when Qui Gon Jinn died in episode 1 I dunno why.
Because he was played by Liam "Throatchopper" Neeson. OT: Barnum in Fable 2. I really hate Reaver.

First time some of the characters died in Left 4 Dead. It really teared me up to see the optimist black guy dead.

Of course, they all resurrect themselves in the safe rooms. So I didn't start having much pity after knowing that.
