The player character from Home Front for being to stupid to pick up grenades and throw them back, or to realize that an M-16 and M-4 both take the same kind of ammo ( and are practically the same gun, if I'm not mistaken).

Well, the Master chief has less personality and emotion than a cement block. he is the least interesting character i have ever come across, that of itself does not make for a bad character, but the way the fanboys treat him as bad-ass in hyper-condensed really puts me of the character.
Hey, you know who has even less personality then Master Chief? Gordon Freeman. Seriously, tell me I'm wrong. In fact, Freeman and Master Chief are almost identical in every way(Power-armored badasses who become symbols of hope to a downtrodden human race while conquering an alien menace alongside a tomboyish female sidekick), except MC has more lines of dialog. Like, 3 of them. Also, MC actually had a much more legitimate claim to the whole "symbol of hope" thing, since was actually the only soldier in a war for survival that could actually fight the enemy effectively. Freeman actually CAUSED the alien invasion in question, then disappeared for around 2 decades. Seriously, how did people even hear about him? He was nobody! I mean, what exactly did he DO pre-dissapearance to garner all that faith? Spectacularly fail to save the Earth? Yeah, that sounds like a real symbol of hope to me! Anywho, that's it for me. I have to kick a beehive, poke a bear, and maybe play with some fire.
I'm a Half-Life fan, and I approve this message.

I'd vote one of the Jericho squad. I remember playing that game...their way of showing "I am mildly frustrated at you, squadmate" was to level a gun at their chest.

Master Chief from Halo, and Marcus from Gears because they have like no character traits except for "Hero" and "Blood thirsty mother f**ker" respectively. And Duke Nukem. Yeah, he is supposed to be satirical, but whats his name from Bulletstorm was also, but he knew when to shut his damn mouth, while I want to hurl my controller into my television, and snap my Turtle Beaches in half every time Duke mutters one f**king syllable.

Duke Nukem. He is everything wrong with humanity. Not just gaming. I mean he is a turd of a human

Lara Croft and, Nathan Drake. Nathan Drake murders his fellow man in pursuit of shining antiquities from days long past. Lara does the same thing only she also murders animals and sometimes monsters, also for shiny antiquities. I think Lara is the worse character though since she offers male game-players partial nudity if they help her murder her archaeological rivals. What's that Lara? you'll take off your top and swim around a bit if I help you blingify your house? Alright!
That's actually perfectly fine my me :D

Nathan Drake. The utter douchebag of the gaming world. I loved playing uncharted 1 and 2 in terms of gameplay but some of the stuff Nathan says and does is just so irritating. His dialogue is the sole reason I cannot enjoy the series which is a little bit petty but dammit I want to beat him to death.

Tidus from FFX
Or pretty much all FF heroes XD outside of maybe Zidane.
Wakka? He was awesome. Also those cat...things. You know what red and the gun arm guys were cool too. I would say FF after a certain point although all Cids are awesome.

Roxas from Kingdom Hearts.

"This game's too fun. Looks like we'll have to add in an annoying, broody character to hijack the campaign, taking out all the good parts to make room for endless angst."

even MC tho, he's not insufferable. i also think the relationship between him and cortana is a very interesting one indeed. sadly, this probably goes right over the heads of the average halo player.

*sigh* Gordon Freeman is supposed to be you, the player. He is a blank slate that you step into and are supposed to fill the role of as a super badass particle physicist gun-totting hero of mankind.
Not to nit pick, but that was the intent (valve didn't even wanna give him a face, but marketing wanted cool box art) of valve. IMO, I found it a lot more fun to play with the very mild role-play element of me being the hero then playing a predetermined character profile (like marcus fenix or Nathan fucking Drake). But hey, again, IMO.

OT: All of fucking Noble Team in Reach. Dear god above they sucked soooo horribly. Not even the developers wanted them around they killed 'em off so quick.

This guy:

Who did this to Final Fantasy:

I chunked all that in a spoiler tag to save space. If this may be construed as a low content post...well, what more can I say. That was a character who was a disgrace to not just the game from which he came, but an entire franchise. That stands out in a game which is itself a disgrace to the franchise.

Hell, I'd go so far as to say that character was a disgrace to an entire genre but for the fact JRPG's were already stagnating in terms of narrative, story, aesthetic and characterization by 1999 and he was more of a symptom than a cause.

Definetely either Chell or Freeman, in a world that can make characters have personalities and actually be intersting we have silent camera's that people gush about for hours.

Duke Nukem I fucking hate him, I was only reminded of that when reading some of the earlier posts. Galen Fucking Starkiller, I don't care what anyone says he is a gary-stu incarnate, hate!

Kratos, just a psychotic murdering dick and Mario, fat racist stereotype with as much depth as my pinkie

This *****, I can't even count the amount of times she annoyed the hell out of me.
She's not the worst, but still. Annoying Ashley.
