I'm sorry but what's a "Mary-Sue?" Is it anything like an "Anna Mae" they seem equally unliked....
A Mary-Sue is a character that is just perfect. They have mad skills for no real reason, and are liked by people despite being bland. Bela, from Twilight, is an example
Um, Drizz't did more than just "forsook the evil ways of his kin?" This isn't the story of some hick who stops binge drinking he took on an entire city, no, an entire culture! A culture that was as messed up as a football bat so yes, in my book at least, that makes him extremely likeable as was the story of how he survived in the underdark.
I don't mind the whole "surived the underdark" thing. That doesn't seem to shocking. However, need I go over some of the stuff that goes on in Menzoberranzan? He would have been more interisting to me were he to suffer from insanity of some kind. But that is just my take on the character. Also, I really hate Chaotic Good characters. But then again, I follow a more LG-LN path.
I also don't know what a self-insert is.
Writing a character as a avatar of you, minus any flaws.
I'm sorry you gave up on Final Fantasy XIII,
Dont be, I'm happy to have that thing out of my life.
part of the great story is, yes, the way he does grow and develop. Yes he was whiny in the beginning, then again, I love the story because it makes it easy to see through the perspectives of the characters and if I had lived through what Hope had to in the beginning, whiny hell, you would have been lucky to get me to even move. No need to appologize we all have different opinions, I just get curious why sometimes.
He wasn't the only problem for me, but he was the main one.
Still, I may watch a LP if they cut out all of the combat minus boss fights.
